Near heart failure - I must learn to read things!

So, I was going to have my glucose test last week but I had been sick and was pretty washed out all week so left it for this week. My OBGYN said to do it week 25 or 26.

Today, I thought I would phone up and ask what I had to do before hand, eg fasting as I simply had a mental blank thinking back to my one in 2006 and 2007/8.......thank goodness I did.

On the referal it clearly states - book in and a 2 hr glucose test....

In a MAD PANIC, I phoned around a number of pathologists and being without a car duirng the week, had to find one I could either walk to or catch a bus too. I finally got into one at 9am tomorrow and it is a 25 min walk from my place which does not bother me...excercise is good!

I have to get MIL to take the kids to preschool...she has never done it before so DH is calling her today and I will phone preschool and let them know to keep an eye out for her to show her what to do when she turns up tomorrow.

    Phew.....talk about a close call!

Perfect way to stop and do nothing though! I read for 2 hours this morning after I had my drink.

I thought it was only 2 hours if your first (1 hour) test came back high? (that's what happened with me!) - i did the first test which was one hour, then OB rang and told me the results were high and i needed to the 2hr challenge test...which unfortunately came back showing i did in fact have GD!

Yeah, the GTT is usually the first port of call, and is the one hour test. The GCT (2 hour test) is usually only done if the GTT has been failed, or there is another reason to strongly suspect GD.
