I was just reading up on a few alternative ways of turning this posterior bub of mine, little bugger that he is, Im sure I had him with is back along my right side towards the front last night then this morning before I got up I felt him move back again!
Anyway I don't think acupuncture or this moxibustion thing will work for me. I can't find enough info on why it would work & honestly my minds just not that open. Im what you would call a open minded sceptic. I need a little more to go on to be open to it. But anyway...
I came across an article on diaphragmatic release, again there is little telling me why this works but it has me interested. I want to know more about it. After all it seems like something DH & I could do here at home & Hell if it works great, if not, then I will just get back on my hands & knees LOL
I've heard of it and I've got an article on it somewhere (probably the same one you read).
I haven't actually used it or known anyone who has but the concept is intriguing. And absolutely worth trying if you want to turn your bub.
I think with any of these methods you really do have to keep an open mind though. There aren't really any conclusive studies that substantiate their effectiveness 100%, the evidence is anecdotal (ie. people's experiences) and I've certainly seen many women get results with acupuncture and moxa. I guess the thing is that they can't hurt - you have absolutely nothing to lose except a bit of your time by trying them....and if they don't work, they don't work nothing lost. But everything to gain
The other point worth making is that they often aren't used until the very end of pregnancy - which is when you expect to see babies getting into a birthing position, or turning head down, or labour beginning anyway in the case of being post dates. This makes it all but impossible, even under controlled conditions, to verify whether the treatments worked or whether it was going to happen anyway. So I doubt we'll ever have irrefutable evidence for many of these methods, and the same applies to diaphragmatic release.. But there is a vast body of birthing women's experiential knowledge that says they might work and they don't do any harm and the studies that have been done on moxa and acupuncture have been promising.
Hey fionajill
I'm having the same problem, stubborn little bugger turned back on me too. My chiro has been trying to release my sacrum? as its not quite in the right place and that should help, I have done everything, pelvic rocks, inversion, crawling, knee to chest all the results that I have had is really really sore knees. I have also come accross the diaphragmatic release technique, I have a chiro appt tomorrow morning and am going to ask my her about it, throught maybe if she could show me how to do it then DF and I could work on it at home. I really want this bub to be in the best position when I go into labour, I have been approved for my vbac and want to be as prepared as possible.
