What can I do to make my cold symptoms better?

I am 6 wks pregnant and woke up this morning with a runny nose. Since then it has progressed into a "i'm feeling really miserable" type of cold...nose running like a tap, sneezing all the time, sore throat, nauseous etc. I don;t have a temp though, so it's not the flu, 'just' a cold.

Has anyone got any home-remedies or advice on helping me get through the evening as I feel terrible!

Oh hun, it's awful isn't it?

Ok, stick with the hot honey drinks and plenty of soup and fluids and rest. For nasal congestion, a non-medicated saline spray like Fess works wonders. You can use Vicks too. A nice warm steamy bath will help. If you start getting a temp you can take panadol as it's preferable for bubs to not get a high fever, but you might like to take some anyway as it will help with your sore throat.

Congrats on the pregnancy. Go to bed and rest if possible. Sleeping with a vapouriser is good and as Marydean said use vicks and it is ok to take panadol if you feel too bad. I really think rest is best though.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

The only thing that worked for me was taking panadol to reduce the head cold pressure, getting a box of tissues, a bottle of water and going to bed.
I also had a fair amount of chicken soup - good for keeping the fluids up too.

I have heard that cleaning out your sinuses eg with the saline nasal spray can help you re-coup orate earlier because it cleans the bacteria out.

I hope you get better soon, and that you don't get another cold
