Question Online maternity stores that don't charge the earth?

I'm looking for something to wear to a naming day in about a months time (I'm the godmother).

I'm already showing but not huge, the weather here has been really hot so I'd prefer a dress, like a maxi dress.

All the sites I've looked at so far are too expensive considering this will be my last prg and I won't get all that much wear out of it.

    Any recommendations??

Ive found with maxi dresses you can just go up a size.....no need to actually buy maternity clothing. Ive also found as soon as something is labelled maternity the price seems to hike up a bit.....Baby doll tops (not mat tops, but can be worn as mat tops) are still very much in fashion....that with a good pair of mat black slacks would look great.

Ive bought 3 standard items this pregnancy - white mat shorts, indigo denim shorts and black slacks - all from pumpkin patch online store. Tops i just make sure they are jersey material (stretch) or have the baby doll style (where it allows for a growing tummy). I shop at target right thru to forever new (more expensive......).

Yeah mbear, I was thinking the same thing but the problem I'm finding with 'normal' maxi dresses is that most of them have triangular cups and spaghetti straps - no good for a decent/mat bra underneath and I can't get away with anything else now.

I just checked out SweetLily and OMG, I"m in LOVE with two of their dresses but can't justify $197+++

Anyone seen any maxi dresses around with normal, thicker straps?? I have one my mum made me but it's been worn to death already and is getting really tight around my bust and ribs. I might just end up calling her and asking her to make me another one in the next size up. The last one cost me $30

Willow - there is a shop at Miranda (yes, I know, miles away) that stocks a nice range of maternity clothes. I got dresses that can be worn pregnant and non-pregnant and they were $70 (but reduced at the time) The brand is Szabo (with on-line website) and the quality is excellent. Most of the items can be a during and after pregnant item. My black pants are sooooo comfortable and dressy too but can be casual. They are also real person sizes so you don't need to worry about a size 12 being a size 10.

Thanks Michelle. Have already checked out their website but none of the dresses grabbed me. I'm going to go shopping tomorrow to try to find something, if not, I might get my mum on it

Try beautiful bellies, i went into their actual shop the other day and they had a great range of stuff at reasonable prices, havn't looked at their on line store, but be worth a look.

I got a maxi dress from Glassons which i wear all the time. I didn't even go up a size, it's nice a stretchy. It is strapless though, so i wear an underwire strapless bra with it, or i got a little tiny shoulder cardi that buttons just under my boobs IYKWIM that i can wear if i wear a regular bra witht he dress.

Hmmm, smart thinkin' 99, I got one of those two....I've also got an underwire strapless I could probably get away with.

Will check out that site, hoping to find something tomorrow though.
