Painting a cot?

Hi ladies

Just wondering if anyone has painted their cot? and / or can recommend what to paint it with?

I bought a varnished one 2nd hand that I want to paint white, mainly as it has a few marks on it I want to cover up.

Seeing the damage DD has done to her cot- teeth marks all along the top of the rail and she has scraped the paint off (went in one day and she had flecks of white paint on her mouth/cheek ) I would firstly make sure it is non-toxic and kid safe! Maybe ask the paint guy at your local hardware store?

I will go and have a talk to them.. Hopefully they can help :-) - we have a small paint section at the hardware here. The next closest one is 700km away. :-(
Surely they will be able to find out for me tho? :-)
