    Pregnancy heartburn

I'm getting heartburn after EVERY meal... even after a drink of OJ...
Its driving me up the wall, and I dont have a doctors/midwife appointment for another few weeks to find out of continual use of ant acids is ok...
Gaviscon & Mylanta are classed as OK... but is it OK with continual use?
Mylanta has a warning on the label to consult your GP if using for longer than 14 days...

    Any info would help!

I used TUMS and they are ok as long as you don't go over the max dose.

I had the heartburn from hell not long ago and then I had acupuncture for it 4 weeks ago and haven't had any since. It's like a miracle!!!!!!! Definately worth a try!

i was sucking on Rennies all day for most of my last pregnancy. Although probably not ideal many many pregnant woman do.

This pregnancy i have been seeing an osteo and a chinese medicine Dr which has helped my reflux alot. I still get it but no where near as bad.

ETA- The chinese med Dr did acupunture on me too! It rocks.

I'm not much help because I am currently sucking down nealry 3L of milk a day. However I have those chalky tabs/drinks so only take them if necessary.
Pick one that has minimum or no aluminium in it (Rennie I think has the lowest). Zantac can also be taken.
One that really worked for me last time (just keep forgetting to buy them this time) is Fruit TIngles - you know the lollies?
Also make sure you don't lie down for an hour or so after meals.

I actually found that bananas worked well for me in my first tri, apparently they have a natural antacid in them that helps to settle the tum - be careful though because bananas also contribute to constipation

Some good advice there. I am on the mylanta tabs as well. They are the only ones that taste half decent to me.

Just wanted to let you know that the whole "If you suffer from bad heartburn while your pregnant than your baby will have lots of hair" must be a myth as at my scan this week they said my baby hardly has any hair and I ahve been suffering badly!
