How far do you have to be before asking for a S&S, 37 weeks or later???

I don't think you would find many Drs willing to do one at 37 weeks unless it was medically necessary to induce the baby.

In my experience it was only done at 40 weeks +
Even then the cervix needs to be soft and partly dilated and favorable to induction otherwise it probably wouldn't do much but be a painful ordeal. It's painful enough at 3cm's dilated!

My Obs wouldn't do it before my 40wk appt, which would have been at 39 wks + 5 days. She said doing it before then would probably just be painful and trigger spurious labour and make me hate her

I agree with Raven though that they prob won't do it unless you are beginning to dilate/efface.

    couldnt find the post. :-S

also, I think I read you were going for a c/s...? Would the s&s be to try for a vbac? Because you'd probably be better waiting for spontaneous labour so they don't try to impose limits on you...
