    Pregnancy and the Work Desk!

So i figure i am by no means the first woman to have this issue, and i am quite sure i wont be the last....

How are you supposed to be comfortable at your desk at work?? I cant sit any further back from the desk because then i cant reach to type. My legs go numb because i have a little head stuck down in my pelvis and she loves to kick the desk as well! Then my upper back is hurting because i end up slouching to alleviate the pressure of the desk on her!!!

All my lovely fellow past/present sufferers please tell me what i can do!!!

I sat with a plastic box under the desk to keep my feet elevated and that helped me get comfortable. Plus I leaned back and pulled the keyboard into my lap - if the cord doesn't reach that far, you could look at getting a cordless keyboard that plugs in with a usb? Those last weeks aren't fun

Can you ask if you can sit on a fit ball? A girl at work did this and she loved it.

I did the same as PRMG when I was still working with DD1. I got enormous pretty quickly so had the keyboard against or on my belly from 5 months or so. I also had a lumbar support pillow that I used from about this time too

I'm finding the same issue with our dining table at home now. Its got waterfall edges and then a sort of cross piece that goes under the table top and I'm struggling to reach my plate to eat. Not good when I'm trying to teach the girls good table manners and I'm leaning all over it myself!

Yep, the same thing is happening to me. I just do a lot of getting up and moving around and changing position but sometimes there is no avoiding it! If I find I'm getting too uncomfortable or JuneBug is kicking the desk I end up getting up and doing some filing!! Then when my back gets sore I have to sit down again. Hang in there hun!

I have adjusted my desk (and lowered my chair) so it is high enough to be above my belly and below my boobs (which isn't much hahahahaha), the desk is way to high to meet ergonomic recommendations but personally I find it very comfortable and can reach my keyboard and mouse etc without having to slouch forward.

And yes, regularly get up and stretch, walk around, I find this helps massively

Apparently my chair is low but comfy for me. I often sit with my legs crossed under me but on my chair (iykwim)

Very bad posture but I also have a wireless mouse/keyboard (I do the stationary ordering so got what suited me)

When my lump finally protrudes a bit more, I think I'll find it more difficult

I also alternate between sitting on my chair and lying on my bosses floor! When I have to go and discuss things with her I lie down and let the little man stretch (and she gets a good chuckle seeing my belly go all weird)

Not sure if this is an option for you but I was getting a sore back at work and I just had a workstation assessment completed by an occupational therapist. She made adjustments to my chair, desk and computer height etc, gave me some lumbar support and also some other tips for working during pregnancy. One was having the desk and computer height higher than you usually would, can't remember the theory behind it but I certainly feel better.

Hope you can find a way to work comfortably!

I grabbed a couple of the recycling boxes & used them as foot stools to elevate.
