when is a low lying placenta picked up?

Ok so i may have made it known before once or twice i have anxiety issues and this first time mum thing adds to it nicely!
In the last 18 month so many friends have mentioned they have had low lying placentas, i am wondering when this is picked up? is it on one of the scans or on an obs visit? (i would just like to know if its something else i need to stress about or if i can kinda relax!)

they said it was low at my first ultrasound and it had righted itself by the 20 week one

no worries. you most likely dont have anything to worry about, and even if you find it is low lying a lot of times it moves into the correct position the further along you go. :-)

They'll pick it up at the 20 week scan, sometimes even at the 12 week scan if you have that one. Usually, it's nothing to worry about. Depending on how far away from the cervix it is, you'll just have to have another scan around the 32 week mark to make sure it's moved.

Make sure you ask about it though. I had placenta previa and it was never picked up until I was in labour (don't ask me why!), don't stress about it, but just make sure you know.

At the 20 week scan. Mine was low, apparently 1.9cm from the cervix, so I was booked for another scan at 32 weeks. It had moved a whopping 6cm by that stage so I'm all good for a vaginal birth

More often than not low placentas move far enough away from the cervix by 32-34 weeks.

Mine was lowish, picked up at the 12 week scan. Though as the PG grows the placenta can end up higher as the uterus stretches. This is differnent to placenta previa which is when the placent either partially or totally cover the cervix.
