    Question Removal Of Cervical Stitch

When does labour normally start once a cervical stitch is removed?

I think it can be different from everyone, some can go into labour pretty quickly, some have to be induced!

    Dee,
I was told when they removed mine that you should pack your bags just in case. Most girls I have spoken to usually go into immediate labour or labour for a day or so at home and deliever within 2-3 days

Thanks Bec - you probably remember me mentioning my niece and all the dramas, well she`s 36 weeks now and the stitch comes out on Tuesday, ohhh she might be born on Matthew`s Birthday. Hope your doing okay Bec, I`ve missed you.

My sister had the stich removed then had to be induced about 2 weeks later. I think it's individual

    Thanks Lilli and Claire.

Apparently the Dr`s are thinking she`ll go into labour quite quickly once the stitch is removed, in a way I`m hoping she doesn`t as she`s only 36 weeks and the baby is a couple of weeks behind dates so a few more weeks of cooking would be beneficial but as my parents say there must be a reason why they are taking the stitch out as early as 36 weeks.

    Dee,
mine was taken out at 37, it is because the weight in the last few weeks pts tremendous pressure on the stitch and can rip the cervix along with the stitch..well that was what my obst told me. I suppose when I got to 30 weeks I was over the moon so anything after that was great

Thanks Bec, I should have thought of that myself. I agree the biggest hurdle is to get to 30 weeks and like you she`s done that which has amazed the Dr`s, they thought she`d deliver before 30 weeks so it`s all uphill now
