Hi SueW,
I'm Rh- I've had plenty of anti-d injections but never had a blood transfusion.
Hope someone here can help.

I'm O-neg and have had the anti-D injections too but never heard of invitro transfusions. I would find out more about it, the article Kelly posted explains what normally happens if you are a neg blood type. Good luck.
Yeah i'm neg too and never had transfusions. Don't need anti-d either.
Im O neg and had the anti D but no transfusions
I'm having all the blasted blood tests and anti d needles too, but no transfusions, so sorry, I can't help you there much either.
If I knew what blood type the Man is (he doesn't know, and neither does his Dad!) I mightn't have to go through all this (Steph is o-neg like me). Does anyone know how to find out what blood type you are? Do you need to get a referral from a dr?
A question for all other pg neg blood group ladies. Do you wear, or think it would be a good idea to wear a SOS type bracelet, especially if you are o-neg (as if you are o-neg, you can only have that blood type in transfusions, etc)?
Moving to preg general discussion, not a medical condition.

Netix- I have a blood card in my wallet that i was sent out after I had my blood tested and found out I was Onegative.
Rosehip Fairy- For your first child you dont need to have the anti d shot until straight after the pregnancy or a miscarriage. It was probably pushed on you after your first child as this will protect future children who may have rhesus positive blood from being attacked by your body. You wouldnt have had antibodies in your system in your first pregnancy as your body didnt recognise the baby as being something foreign (it only does this when your bloods are mixed which can be if you have a bleed or a bump and at birth). Your doctor was just trying to protect any furture pregancys you may have. He should have explained this to you though.
Im a -ve blood group and had 2x blood transfusions AFTER the birth of DD#1.....
good luck.
Ali, I got sent one of those cards during or after my last pg, even though I have always known what blood type I was. It was something Mum made sure that my Bro and I knew.
i know O-neg is meant to be the least common blood type, but my whole family is O-neg! (me, my brother, my late sister, Mum, Dad, Dad's new wife even, and Steph!) Still don't know what the Man is though![]()
