Royal North Shore Team midwives

Hi!
I had my last DD at RNS sydney through the team midwives. I am just wondering if they are still doing team midwives at RNS? I have tried calling to book in but of course no one answered!! They said on the machine, community midwives, Im wondering if they are the same thing?

Hi Webbmeg, i had my DD through the team midwives at RNS in March 07, and remember them changing their name just before i had her. I am pretty sure that they sill run things approximately the same way

Thanks Maya, yes they now call it community or something. I've booked in but am a little put off. They said I can stay in hospital 24 hours and then Im out, and that they can't send midwives to my house (Im JUST out of limits) so MAYBE manly would send me midwives. I just dont' want to feel Im being pushed out if I dont' want to be. I will post another thread about sydney hospitals I think xo

I wouldn't be put off until i have met with a midwife, i think the booking in woman has too many opinions There was only one midwife in the group who i didn't like (definately in the wrong job!), and i don't think the team would have changed much, we had a 1 year anniversary event a few months ago and they were all the same lovely women. I loved the team midwifery because our midwife was wonderful and i never had to wait for any of the appointments, we also had a student midwife for the birth who stayed the entire time which was great.

I remember being horrified when i was told that i could leave after 6 hrs, and generally 24 hrs is the average stay, but i never felt any pressure to leave once i was there, in fact they wanted me to saty longer after my midwife met my MIL!!! Hehehe.

That sucks you are just out of the limits, it would be hard to trek back in with a newborn just for a check! Hope you find a wonderful place to have your bub
