    Sliced Chicken Meat

Hi I was wondering if it was OK to eat the sliced chicken/ham that is sold in the sealed plastic containers in the cold section (with the cheeses) at Coles etc. A friend of mine has heard it is ok as long as you use it within 12 hours? Does anyone else know?

    Thanks!

Hi, I was told that the only safe luncheon meats to eat where the ones you cooked yourself at home but they had to be eaten within 24 hours. eg, silverside, chicken, turkey all of these could be eaten cold if you cooked them yourself. With the other prepackaged stuff you don't know how long it's been sitting there in the packet or on the shelf. I'd check with your midwife if your unsure.

You're going to get lots of different opinions, so it's really up to you and what you feel comfortable doing. I was actually told that those prepackaged sealed containers were fine as long as you stored it properly and ate it quickly. I had cravings for ham during my PG with Kynan so I ate the prepackaged stuff.
