Well, my husband and I just returned from our twenty-week ultrasound, and everything is going just fine. Our little girl is growing perfectly, and our sonographer could not detect any abnormalities in terms of bodily structure and organ functioning.

...However, she did say that it appears as though the umbilical is missing one artery. She was quick to assure me that this in no way guarantees problems in the baby either prior to or after birth, as it becomes significant really only in the event that abnormalities have been detected, and I am trying not to worry about this. We are going back for another scan in a month so that she can look at the kidneys and heart in greater detail, and I have been forbidden from googling the condition in the meantime.

I am curious as to whether any other mothers have had any experience with this - or whether you know of anyone who has gone on to have perfectly healthy babies with the presence of a two-vessel cord. I'm feeling quite calm about it as we don't have any other reasons to worry, but would be interested to know of similar circumstances.
