So what can I use on an achey back?

I have issues with my back during pg, but I have been doing alot these past few days and it is really achey, not the kind of sore it usually is when I'm pg (sciatica/nerve issues) but it's sore like I've been lifting heavy things (I have done alot of washing and bending picking up).
I have some tiger balm, and DH has dencorub and stuff called pain away which he swears is terrific. But I know I can't use some certain things with certain ingredients in them. I have been using a heat pack, but thought maybe some sort of balm/cream might help a bit too. What can I use?? TIA

Hey lilias - back pain is just the worst sometimes!

Have you tried gentle stretching? I suffer scoliosis and i generally stretch out like a cat with my hands in front legs tucked under (hopefully you can get in this position?) and stretch out through the fingers, then a heat pack.

Hope the back pain goes away! HTH

Oh you poor thing. I suffered from terrible back problems while pregnant (and don't want to scare you, but I still do and DD is 11 months old!)

You can't use Nurofen - tablets or the gel. I'm not sure about Tiger Balm but I would be careful, maybe google it. I used heat packs and had a lot of physio. Warm baths helped too. Stretching is great advice. If you can lay on your back for just a bit, bend your knees up and just roll your body and legs from side to side. Pelvic tilts on a exercise ball are great too - a good physio can teach you these.

there is a wonderful product called 'warmties' they have a website with a dot com dot au at the end

It's a wheatbag (or rice??) that you heat up and you can tie onto you with a soft cotton cloth. They are amazing for achy backs because you don't have to hold them in place!

    Good luck!

wheatbags have been the most effective for me

also just floating to get the weight off everything. Even 5 minutes sometimes can help!

Be careful with rubs etc- my pharmacist said most aren't recommended for pregnancy

    Good Luck!

Similar to warmties, there are band aid like heat packs that last 8 hours. Elastoplast and Nurofen make them. Works a treat.
Also, hydrotherapy has worked well for me.
    Back pain is the pits.
    Hope you feel better soon

I've been using Michaels Medi Rub.. and it's fantastic. It's natural and it works sooooooo much better than tigerbalm!!!! goes straight to the muscle
