    Question Something Just for MUM?

    Ladies - Question Time -:

When you had your baby showers or babies, did YOU receive something just for you? If so what? If not, what would have made your first few months as a mummy with a newborn better (as in what could someone have done for YOU).

I am thinking of putting together a bit of a package for my Bestie and am a little stuck for ideas.

So far JUST FOR HER I have:

    Moogoo Combination Oil CLeanser
    Moogoo Full Udder Cream
    Moogoo Edible Lip Balm
    In Essence Harmony Blend

(all these I have checked the oils are safe for use topically or in burners whilest pregnant)

And I am thinking of getting her a Thomas Sabo Charm to go on a bracelet I got for her. I am looking for stuff tha I can give to her while she is enjoying her last weeks of pregnancy and hopefully beyond that as well.

But I want it to be a really good present so am in need of some ideas ... absolutely NOTHING for Baby in this please.

    TIA

This is a beautiful idea! What a special friend you are.
This may not be the type of thing you're after, but I was given a pregnancy massage voucher towards the end of my pregnancy and I absolutely loved it! It was something I always planned to do for myself, but if a hadn't been given the voucher I know I probably wouldn't have gotten around to it.

    Good luck

Actually I am organising for a dear friend of mine who is a qualified masseuse (pregnancy) to come to her house at the END of her baby shower to give her a pregnancy massage. Bestie will be taken into another room and pampered and we will all clean up for her (its at her house)...... Great minds

I got a jar of Burt's Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter. It was beautiful. Rubbed it daily all over my belly (well DH did as part of his bonding with baby) and I didn't gain one stretch mark!

The only other thing I received that was just for me was a necklace with a pendant of a woman holding a child. It was given to mum when I was born, and she handed it down to me when DD was born.

What you're doing is beautiful, NaeNae. Friends like you are few and far between

Definitely a good drink bottle, bonus points if it's a one that includes a filter - I got soooo thirsty all the time when feeding DD.
If she's a tea drinker you could put together a selection of herbal teas and a tea-ball (small infuser that you dunk in your cup instead of teabags).
A selection of her favourite small little nibbly things, a nice handcream and nail care kit. Gift voucher for a facial.

LOL I just remember how exhausted I was after my baby shower, not to mention how sore I was from all the preggy symptoms so having some pampered down time will be lovely for her.

SOme other suggestions I have had through FB was cooked "frozen or freezable" meals .....

DO you think popping an extra card in with the invites, asking the baby shower guests to bring 1 freezable meal so they can have a good supply of stuff would be too much to ask??

    Chocolates are a must LOL
    Drink bottle idea is great

The meals idea is nice idea and even if they don't or cant get to make something they could at least buy some frozen meals and or snacks stuff.

Some of my friends brought round home-cooked meals at dinnertime when we were out of hospital the second time. They let me know when they were doing this so I didn't have to cook.

DH ignored Mother's Day so I bought myself a charm for my charm bracelet from Liebling.

Cocoa body butter was something I used a lot of whilst pregnant to keep my growing bump skin soft and stretchmark-free.

    washable, re-usable lush breastpads
several WAHM brands are available at the clothpadshop site, and there is also Mazalicious brand.
Swaddlebees is one commercial brand i can think of.
great for saving the new mum from having embarrassing wet patches on her front, when her milk comes in.
the bps are funky, and the soft layers against the skin feel so nice, like TLC for the mum.

lingerie washbags to wash the bps in, keep them together, so you don't lose the pairs in the washload.

    aba calendar
aba subs (so the new mum will get the bi-monthly magazine ESSENCE delivered to her letterbox)
i could add breastfeeding tops (from places like nuvo maternity)

i think the BEST gift, in the few months, would be a friend to talk to about nb stuff - she obviously already has a wonderful friendship with you, so i think she's a winner before you buy ANYTHING for this New Mum Basket.
