    Static electricity when preg

Its weird but I've found for quite a few weeks now I've been carrying alot more static electricity. Yes it sounds funny but I constantly get those little shocks when I touch things and when I brush my hair it frizzes out everywhere. (Like those ball things we had in science class in high school that you put your hands on so your hair stands up!)
So just curious if anyone else is having same thing. I've not got new clothes or shoes or anything all same old stuff.

I've had the same thing shellbell. I must look like an idiot when I get out of the car and I'm trying not to touch the door with my skin to avoid a shock!! Seems to have settled down a bit now though.

I've had that for what seems like forever It's not pg related for me. I close my car door with my knee and to open our metal gate, for me, is nerve racking! I have even shocked dd on more than one occation. I wear lots of wool clothes, so I don't know if it might be that I just know that DH is constantly teasing me and letting me get out to open the gate ... idiot

And some days are worse than others ... could it be weather related?

OMG I can't believe I've never noticed this thread! This has been happening to me ever since I was preg also and I thought I was going mad and over exagerating but I'm so relieved to see it's quite normal!! It's like I have some weird extra electrical energy! When I take my clothes off it makes that horrible crispy buzzy sound (I don't know...that static electrical sound, ykwim ) and terrible when I brush my hair. I can't even use my favourite satin pillow case coz it bothers me so much!

Well, glad to know I'm not the only one

Hey guys, for me it is pg and weather related. Up in sunny Qld I get the worst static in june/july when there is virtually no humididty. It is gettting better now as it is starting to get muggier.
I have also had it real bad in early stage of pg. but my skin was soooo dry. I couldnt put enough moisturiser on. (ps got super itchy as well for a while)

I got a lot of static electricity shocks whilst pregnant. Never worked out what it was. My hair wasn't an issue though but my skin was a little on the dry side early on. I have always had issues with shocks but it got worse during the 1st & 2nd tri. Bubs was born "normal" so I don't think it did anything to him. He's a very settled baby so it will be interesting to see if your bubs end up settled as well.

Ooohh Satya I hope it means bubs will be settled, or at least helps!! I've never thought it was harming, or evening affecting bubs and I certainly hope it isn't. I've just been curious to know why it happens I'm going to ask my chiro next time I go, she seems to have answers for everything.

This is the weirdest pg related thread but I love it! Years ago I used to get shocks but lately its just ridiculous. I never thought it was pg related until now! How funny!

Yeah maybe it is to dry skin, well I've only really noticed my hands being alot dryer than usual. Hmm its a mystery we can all solve together!

Thanks for the response to that
Ive been going crazy wondering if I was the only person that had experienced it and if it would harm the baby. It reassuring to know that other people experience it and it does no harm

Just to throw a spanner on the dry skin thing ... I have dry skin, BUT have sweaty hands??? So my hands are 90% of the time moist when touching metal stuff ...

I'm going to experiment and try to butter up a bit more .. see if I can get my skin more moist
