Does this happen here in Australia?
I remember testing at the beginning of each appointment in NZ but it hasn't been tested once this pregnancy.

I didn't have testing during my first two pregnancies - unless I was showing other signs of pre-eclampsia, like I was a bit swollen or whatever.
I get my urine checked at every appointment with my independent midwife though, which isn't a problem, just peeing on a stick![]()
i had it prob in the 3rd tri - mostly because i had high BP caused by the PG & was on medication. if my BP was slightly high at an appt, they'd test. in the last few weeks i was having CTG monitoring (i refused to be induced early b/c of GD) & the m/w tested each time i was in for monitoring. not sure if it's standard though.
Do you mean just the dipstick or the 24hour collection? No matter they're both done for the same reason.
Yep I only ever had it done for high BP. It used to be routine but not any more.
Just the dip stick. Wasn't something I thought about till recently, we use to weigh and test before our appointment so they could record it on our notes, weight was optional although they preferred you to do it. I only stepped on the scales once and that was my first appointment.
My ob only started doing urine tests when my bp went up. My understanding is that the degeneration in Kidney function is caused by the increased blood pressure/ PE, so there really isn't any point without other signs of PE. My bp had been up for weeks before there was any sign of protein in my urine. Could be wrong though.
With both my pregnancies I got tested almost every visit. The first one was through a major hospital clinic and the routine was, say you've arrived to the receprionists, go to the toilets, test your urine and weigh yourself.
With DD2 I got weighed at my first appointment, and I only did urine tests at the end when my BP was sky rocketing and I had swelling, but heavily medicated with Nifedipine whoch is supposed to stop ctx and susequently lower BP.
DD1 I don't think we ever did it, and was only weighed once at the start, didn't even get weighed when I had polyhydromnious and was huge
I am really surprised how much everyone is having to pee and get weighed, I went through a private OB.
Every appointment at the hospital started with a weigh-in and the pee test (for protein etc) for all pregnancies at 4 different hospitals.
I saw a midwife for the first time (apart from the history appointment) and did my first pee test, all clear (didn't expect anything else) she also brought up the weight thing but I declined to go to the dietitian at this stage as I believe I have changed my eating habits for the better already.
My homebirth middie didn't do them unless my BP was high (my BP is always extremely low so never did one)
At the hospital they where in the toilets and you where expected to do one yourself before the appointment...there were also scales in there so you weighed yourself as well.
Ah the joys of the KEMH do-it-yourself clinics
