    twins?

I got a surprise for my 46th Birthday. I got a BFP at 9dpo on Feb 2 and turned 46 on the 3rd. The lines just got darker and darker.
I've had 2 betas so far and awaiting the 3rd results.
    19dpo = 1396 and 22dpo = 3158.
I had spotting yesterday at 25dpo and pain when my GP felt my tummy so she sent me for an urgent scan fearing ectopic.
the scan showed 2 distinct areas. The sonographer said one she would definitely classify as a sac with a yolk and the other one is a day or two behind so too early to tell if it is another sac or a ??? whatever. So I have to go back in 10-14 days.
LMP was January 10 and I know I ovualted in agony at 6pm on the 24th with BD that morning. Unplanned. I ended up with gastro that day really bad so I figured nothing was possible.
It took us 3 yrs and 8 m/c to arrive at Daniel who is now 10 mths old so this is very much a surprise but totally ok. Daniel knew something was up though and weaned himself from breastfeeds in less than 3 days

I am not counting it as twins just yet though as it is too early for heartbeats and even then we'd have to get past 12 wks and then I may believe it. But for now it is the clear possibility.

Anyone else been thru the possibility of twins and had twins or not?

    thanks and hugs
    Judy

Congratulations Jude! I haven't had anything similar but a friend had twins with a similar result where one was slightly behind the othe other in development, however she didn't have a scan until about 12w so it was a bit further on.

My beta is back for 25dpo - 5332 so it dind't double and not even over 3 days.
I am a bit worried now
    19 dpo = 1396
    22 dpo = 3158 (Doubling time 2.54 days or 59.44 hours) Progesterone : 35
    25 dpo = 5332 (doubling time of 3.97 days or 104.54 hours)
According to the babymed calculator that is a slower than normal doubling
Surely if it was twins my betas would be higher and doubling faster?
My Dr tends to look at the individual level rather than doubling times so she says they are still high considering how far I am.
So she is ok with the number as a sole number as it average for 6-7 weeks but I am not so sure as it has no where near doubled.
The sonographers report was inconclusive and all it said was a possible gestation sac or a possible pseudosac... good thing I printed out one of the pics showing 2 sacs to show my GP coz it was totally against everything the report said. So she is ignoring the scan report and we'll do another scan next Friday and another beta on Monday with progesterone. Even though she wrote it on the first 3 referrals they only tested it once.. so she was wasn't happy they had not done the tests she asked for.

So I am not too sure whether I will stay pregnant with a healthy baby or twins or what... totally up in the air for the moment
I don't have any morning sickness either which by now I am over a bucket. Just can't help feeling this isn't going to make it to Ocotber

i hope things go well for you, but i thought maybe it was twins to start with, as your hcg levels did seem quite high to begin with but maybe you did lose a twin and that is why the numbers have not increased as much, but are still increasing as the other twin keeps growing. i'm not an expert, but maybe that would explain why the numbers have not doubled as much as expected for a twin pregnancy. just to add i am due the middle of october and i got my hcg levels done on thursday and i got a level of 6500, so your levels seem ok to me. wishing you all the best x
