    Ultrasound....will they see anything?

    Hi everyone
I'm 5 weeks pg today and im going for an u/s on monday which will make me 5w4d. Do you think they'll be able to see the bubs ? Im having weekly u/s but i'm just curious. What was the earliest youv'e seen your bubs?

I think you may find that it is to early for a heartbeat...that is usually detected after 6 weeks.
But there should be a sac and possibly a Fetal pole.
You would be able to see more if they do a internal u/s with a probe rather than an abdominal one.
    I hope it goes well.

I would say its more then likely they wont see a HB but they should be able to confirm a gestational sac and probably a fetal pole at 5wks4days via an interna; scan.

At 5wks3days they couldn't see a fetal pole within the gestational sac at mine but at 6weeks they saw the fetal pole and HB. So a huge difference in just a few days. Both were transvaginal.

Thanks guys. I have to have transvaginal scan for the first 12w anyway because i have a retroverted uterus. Hopefully we'll see something!

Yas, I've got a retroverted uterus as well and the sonographer was able to see bubs fine doing an external scan at 7 weeks. Of course, it depends on equipment and the preference of the sonographer... just thought I'd give you some hope that you won't necessarily have to have internals (or 'dildo-cam' as I have heard other girls on here refer to it!!!) for that long .

Good luck, hope you see something on Monday and that you get to see a lovely heart beat very very soon.

I had a scan at 5w5d and there was a gestational sac, a yolk sac and that is all that was seen. I am now almost 39 weeks into that pregnancy. It wasn't done trans vaginally though and I believe if it had been we would have seen more.

All the best for your scan
