Uncomfortable downwards/heavy pressure. Could this be braxton hicks?

Ive had this uncomfortable pressure deep down on my pelvis on & off over the last few weeks. It's not painful exactly just a very uncomfortable heavy feeling on the inside ITMS?

It's hard to explain but its a feeling like something heavy is pushing down on that area & feels a bit tight, like muscle soreness but often in the same place.

Is this just bub moving in an awkward position, ligaments stretching & tightening or do you think its braxton hicks?

I thought for sure it would be too early for them but read a few other posts on here from ladies around 18 plus weeks that were getting them too.

Sorry, I don't remember any downwards pressure when I had BH. Whenever I did have BH though they were pretty much painless, and my belly went tight as a bowling ball. Might be just bubs pushing things about?

It doesn't sound like the BHs I had.......they more made my belly go all tight and hard, and sometimes I had to stop what I was doing while I waited for it to pass. But they only lasted 20 seconds or so, and then would disappear.

Yeah with my BHs, my belly went really hard and tight and would leave me a bit breathless. When bub's was rolling from one side to the other (he would do this several times a day!) i would feel lots of pressure, not so much downwards tho but out to the sides. Sorry not much help.. Good luck with rest of pg.

It sounds to me more like things moving & stretching than BH. Or that you are noticing the extra weight of bub, uterus etc.

I'm further along than you, but I often feel like I have a bowling ball in my lower pelvic region. I think this is because my bub is engaged. Maybe it's your bub's weight that you are feeling.

Lisa B you may be right. This is exactly how I feel sometimes, like I have a small bowling ball sitting on my pelvis!

Yeah Lissy, sounds all OK to me, ligaments stretching, the muscles underneath strengthening up, with or without BH going on. I had that intermittently from 20 weeks onwards. BH would happen if I'd been sitting for a while and then just suddenly stood up. Got a tightening right underneath. Your pelvis will be widening out. Just remember to sit and move like a man and later in the pregnancy, yes, waddle when you walk, a nice wide gait. I read a physiotherapists book about reducing pelvic instability, (many physios don't know all this). Protect the pelvis with a wide stance as this helps avoid pelvic instability that can also cause pain lower down. Lots of relaxin hormone flooding those joints!!
