What did your's cost?

Just curious what the average price for maternity clothes is where you live. I was just visiting a friend who is due about the same time that I am, and she had just gone out and bought a bunch of new maternity clothes, which were very cute! But the prices! I remember them being expensive when I was pregnant before, but she got two t-shirts on "sale" for $45 for two, and some capris for $59! Again, they are really nice, but I don't understand why maternity clothes have to be so crazy expensive!?! I have been looking around at the second hand stores (there are a lot of good, well established ones here especially for childrens and maternity clothes) but there are going to be a few things I'll need (want?) new. And the other thing with the maternity clothes that I have found is that the shirts are often too short, and the quality is not that great. I found that they lasted me until I was about 8 months, and then everything started to look pretty worn. There are not too many items left from my previous pregnancies that I want to re-use.
So is it just in North America that the prices seem crazy, or is this what everyone has to pay? (BTW, from what I can tell, the Australian dollar is pretty close to equal to the Canadian dollar.)
