    Angry What Really Irks Me!!!

I just wanted to say that I am sooooo pee'd off when I see people driving around with their baby/toddler/child in the car unrestrained!!!! What does the caregiver of that child think? It especially irks me when I see a newborn in their capsule with no harness on! I often see people in my area driving around with the kids standing up in the car looking out the window.
I have always been one to make sure my children have always been securely strapped in, their lives are just soooo precious, imagine losing a child because of your own ignorance!
Im so sorry to rant and rave, but this really gets my blood boiling when I see this, why dont the police do more about this situation?!

yes that upsets me too ppl don't deserve to have babies/kids sometimes do they? They don't really look after them like they are meant to.... its upsetting to see....
I agree, i think the police should be looking out for those sorta things more, instead, they are too busy looking after scum bags on the streets etc... or too busy in the office... who knows, i don't know but just seems like there are lots of ppl that get away with lots these days huh...

oh and another thing that really annoys me is the amount of people using drugs and alcohol and still allowed to bear children! Those poor babies often have to be on a program so that their bodies can be free'd of all the toxins the mum has put in while she was pregnant! I sometimes think that those people that just have babies for the money (the baby bonus etc) should not be allowed to have the money, I'm sure that the number of mistreated babies/children would fall.
I know of a lady that has 9 children and she is a junkie! She once told me (with her last bub) that the baby is on a methodone program because the father is a junkie????? Me being a little nieve (not sure on spelling) thought, wow that is really horrible of the father to put his child thru that. Then it occured to me that the father must have really really great sperm and that it had to be mum that was the cause of the baby's misfortune! I am absolutely sure that this particular lady has been a 'user' for some years and had that many kids just for the centrelink payment, as she doesnt work!
Sorry if I have offended anyone, I just cant see the reason that someone would just have a baby only to mistreat it later on when all the money has gone!

    yeah i agree....
I was watching foxtel last night and there was a show (i think on CI channel) about prostitutes and drug addicts having babies and the kids were later in life affected with their education etc as they couldnt concentrate or didn't have anybody caring for them or to love them and they lived in half-way houses etc it was so sad i felt like crying... to see these kids having fights etc living in the streets etc, they don't know any better because noone set them a good example to begin with....
one child who was 5 now, was about 2 yrs old when he watched his father kill his own mother (stabbed her while she was holding him) isnt' that horrific?????? and he is scarred now because of it and isnt a happy 5yr old.

I dont really think that these people actively get pregnant 4 the baby bonus but just dont care about the consequences of their actions. But I certainly agree with the rest. There just seems to be so much abuse and neglect in the world: Adults to children, humans to animals, powerful countries to the third world.

yeah i used tos ee this alot working in childcare... there ws one particular family who had two very boisterous twin boys 3yo as well as a 4yo disabled boy and they just chucked em in the back of the car and closed the door.. ud always see em hanging out the window or jumoing around in the back seat its awful and i can't understand why parents would be so negligent.. we tried to talk to them on the dangers of there actions but they never listened to us...

Yep- this makes my blood boil. Just because you can make a child doesn't make you a good parent. I think it stupid that you need a liscence to own a dog, but anyone can have a kid. Unfortunately the police are just too busy. Another thing that makes my blood boil is people smoking in the car when their children are in the car too, how can they breath? - I take my hat off to the south australian government as they have just made this illegal.

Dear God! I've never seen kids unrestrained in cars, and I'd be taking the license plate number and ringing the police if I did! That's utterly horrifying to contemplate. Even if there were a crash at 50kmh, say, you've still got a child flying at 50kmh until he or she hits something solid- either the interior of the car or the road. And it's faster than it feels.
I'm just shaking my head at the thought...

when i was working at the baby store i was told a story about an asian man who had picked up his child fromthe hospital a few days before and had only been putting the child in a moses basket in the back seat. thought that was thenorm and didnt get why he needed a seat for the baby!!! take in mind that he was relitively new to the country but the hospital didnt even check they had a proper restraint or anythign on discharge and i was told they walk to your car to check now???

I heard that hospitals check that you've had a qualified fitter fit the car seat.. but the hospital never checked ours.

Just yesterday I saw a little girl, no more than 4 or 5 yrs old climb into the front seat to travel. So very dangerous.

Must admit, I haven't seen unrestrained children in a car for years. Sad to hear it still happens.

This is something that make my blood boil also!! Another one is children restrained but not properly.. ie loose straps or in a booster at a very young age.. ect ect..

We once saw a women holding we thing breastfeeding her baby in the front passenger seat.. We got her license plate and rang the police when we got home.. They said they would look into it.. I guess the only thing they would do was say to her that someone had seen her doing this and not to do it again.. It isn't like they could prove it kwim?

No, I suppose the police couldn't prove anything unless they pulled that car over and caught her doing it themselves. But it's like reporting dangerous driving, which I've done a few times; even if the person is driving beautifully when the police catch up with them, it still scares hell out of them being given a warning. Plus the fact that they were warned goes on their record, so if they're caught again, the penalty is more severe. (I think. Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Anyway, today's Herald Sun has an article on kids being improperly restrained in cars. I can't post a link here, but it's clearly visible on their website. Really, I'm surprised anyone would ever knowingly risk their child's life.
