    What's this pain?

I hope someone can help me without my having to go to far into TMI. For the past few days (probably a week) I have been getting sharp pains in my pelvic region, sometimes it feels like a stabbing pain in my vagina, other times its a pressure in my pelvis. Is this just baby pushing down? I have noticed in the past few days, I am getting alot of movement against my hip bone, rather than up near my ribs as previously.

    Any ideas

Clare, I don't really know what the cause is - I think it can be pressure from bubs - but it certainly normal. I had the same thing with both my pgs. I hope it eases for you soon.

    Hi Clare,

I think it is the pressure from bubs - I have been having the same pain on and off for weeks now - probably since about 33 weeks - it is completely normal.

    Goodluck,

    Hi there

I have pain in my Pelvis and sometimes into my Vagina as well. Mostly when I try to lay down on my side and sleep at night. The pains I suffer are sort of like Braxton Hicks, but lower down, and can sometimes go for longer. When I saw my Ob at 35wks and 3days she told me that Jr's head was 2/5 engaged. I put the pains down to the head Engaging, and so did the Ob. Before this 35wk app, I had been feeling the same pains for about a week and a half, maybe 2 weeks. Totally normal, in fact the more women I hear about having these pains, the better I feel myself!

So, hope this helps and thanks for reassuring me.

    Hi,

I have had similar pains (also felt them in my bum!!!) when I saw my ob he said it was the baby's head engaging in the pelvis, the pains are caused by it pushing down on various nerves.

When it first happened to me I thought they were (very painful) contractions, but they were never regular and the intensity varied too much.

They come and go, but I find the best thing to ease the pain is a nice warm bath and plenty of rest.

    Hope this helps,
    Clairexx
