I'm having very light spotting, but it is continious - in that every time I go to the toilet, there is blood when I wipe. I am 6 weeks pregenant.
I want to get this checkout, but who should I see
My regular GP
Midwife (Am going to a birth centre, due to see them for the first time on Saturday)
Or A GP that deals wtih pregnancy/birth, a list was given to me by my GP
Or should i just go down to emergency?.
I have also posted this in the bleeding and pregnancy sticky.
Hi there, when i had my m/c i went to my doctor and then he refered me to the hospital, hope all goes well and it's nothing to be worried about, good luck
Unfortunately at 6 weeks emergency is unlikely to help much.
i have a great GP and went to her when I had spotting at 6 wks - how long have you been spotting for? Have you been ahem intimate with partner very recently? Sometimes this can be a contributing factor.
Midwife I think unlikely to be able to do much either. But,, perhaps GP could send you for a scan - at 6 weeks they should be able to detect if any problems with formation and it is likley to include/be internal.
Sorry I don't know the answer to your question but I just wanted to pop in and give you this
I am almost 12 weeks and from about week 5 to week 8 I had continious spotting like you are descibing. I don't have medical insurance as I am on holiday visiting my family 30,000km from home but I have my morning sickness to keep me reassured. (it couldn't be this bad if I lost the baby)
I just wanted to reassure you that not all spotting is bad.
Go see your GP and he/she will most likely give you a referral for a scan. The GP will then be able to tell you what to do from there.
I know it's scary when there's bleeding, but it can be normal. My sister had heaps of spotting and bleeding in the early days of her pregnancy and she went on to have a healthy little girl.
Thanks for the advise. I have made an appointment for this evening. I will ask the doctor to send me for a scan, as I want to be sure, to get the worry off my mind. I'm fairly sure it's nothing as it has been so light, but it's better to know I think.
I appreciate the help and will update after the appointment. fingers crossed!
I have been having the same thing and my GP referred me for a blood test and a scan - she then did it again a week later to make sure bubs was growing etc. Good luck!
Well I just went to the Docs, and I'm off to get a blood test tomorrow, and then another one on Monday (if I don't have an obvious misscarriage over the weekend). The doctor thought it was a little early for a scan, so it's just waiting to see if the levels rise in the test between Friday and Monday. Monday is my birthday, so hopefully that means good news.
I'm a little teary right now, this is my first pregnancy and I'm just sad that I have to be worried, I want to keep this baby, even though it is so early. .
I know exactly how you feel. I had a week between my 2 tests and I was going crazy with worry However, today on our scan we saw a heartbeat and a little blob. I have had a week of bleeding and everything still seems to be progressing so don't lose hope!!!
Aaaww Dollyroux totally understandable. I had spotting from 5.5 to ~9 weeks (and full-on red bleeding!!!) and also had the blood tests plus scans a little later (as your GP suggested)... and it all went on to be fine, I was just advised to rest-up/take it easy for a bit. So I know how stressful it can be, plus it's easy to be teary at the drop of a hat when you're PG anyway! Here's an e-shoulder to cry on, hope you feel better soon. And birthday on Monday sounds like a good luck charm to me!
We eventually decided that our little drama-bub just wanted to scare us... he's grounded for at least 12 months already!! But as someone else said, hang in there, spotting doesn't always mean it's going wrong (there's heaps of examples of spotting but going onto have a fine PG in here!). Just look after yourself, take it easy and spoil yourself where possible! Here's some more to keep you going.
And Nai - same goes for you too! Look after yourself

Good luck with the blood test today, I'm thinking of you. You might want to ask when/how you can get the results (if it helps reduce your stress, it's important!)
It's a funny thing, while I have had a m/c previously I didn't actually get spotting with it. My theory is on this PG, that bubs just wanted to say "mum, slow down & relax". I'm assuming you don't have any bad pain or cramps (from what you've posted) which is a really good sign. Hang on to your positives, take it easy (never hurts to wrap yourself in cotton wool for a bit!), plan some nice things to do and just keep remembering right now... you're pregnant! (someone told me that when i was stressing, and I just found it helpful). Oh and of course, cry when you need to and post in here - everyone is a wonderful help & support.
Aww, Belfie - Thanks so much. I had a blood test this morning and I will ring the doctor around 4 to see what the results are.
You are correct, I have had no cramping or pain, so I'm taking that as a positive sign.
I still feel pregnant, which I'm also taking as a positive sign, sore as boobs, ridiculously sensitive nipples and feeling permenantly car sick .
Thanks so much for the continued replies, I really appreciate and I am feeling much more positive today. Amazing what a cry and a sleep will do for you!
I think you can get spotting around the time you would usually have your period as well as your body adjusts to being pregnant.
I had spotting with this pregnancy around the 10 week mark and bubs is still hanging in there. Only 5 weeks to go (plus 2 as I am sure it will be overdue).
