    Need some info...

    Hi Guys,

I have a couple of questions I was hoping someone may be able to help me with. May be a little TMI so I apologise in advance

First, I was advised by my doctor I have an unstable pelvis (sympis pubis dysfunction) I was wondering if this can cause early labour. Has anyone had this or knows someone who has?

Also I had an internal haemaroid (spelling?) which has now become external. I have a presription cream that my doctor gave me a while ago that I have started using. Has anyone had these before, how long does it take for them to go away when using the cream?.

    Thanks in advance

I can't help you with your second problem, but with the (SPD) Im' not sure if it can actually cause you to go into labour early or not, but it can get progressively worse with the pg. I imagine that some women could get so bad and need to be induced early though. A lovely woman in my Belly and Baby Buddies group had this condition I will ask her to pop in tell you her experience with it.

    Meanwhile, check out this article from the main site;

Hi, I can also only tell you my experience on haemorrhoid. Sorry dont know much about SPD.
How far along are you? I had haemorrhoid before and during my preg, come and go in the first and second trimester. Came back quite bad in my late pregnancy and because I had quite a speedy labour with 3rd deg tear and the use of vacuum, the haemorrhoid went really bad and inflamed after labour. All the midwives I met at the hosp felt really sorry about me Hope I dont scare you or anything.
Thats just me, I know everyone has different experiences.

In the early stage, if its not bad, it will go away in a couple of days after using the ointment.

Hope it goes away for you soon, dont forget to keep putting the cream if it comes back at the end of your pregnancy. I think I would be able to reduce my problems if i had treated it carefully before. Btw, I am assuming you get the pregnancy friendly cream/ointment?
Make sure you eat plenty of fiber. Yoghurt, dried prunes, prune juice are great as well.

Hope it clears up soon and someone here would be able to help you with your other questions.
GL with the rest of your pregnancy.

Hello Abbys Mum, I have PSD and as far as I'm aware it has no effect on labour except possibly to limit your positions as some may become uncomfortable or painful. A physio would be able to tell you more, or if you google 'symphysis pubis' you'll find lots of info.

One good tip I found online was to put a plastic bag on your carseat so when you get in and out you can keep your legs together and swivel. Can get a bit sweaty on a hot day, but it's saved me a lot of pain!

Hi Abby's mum, I'm the person Sherie mentioned, I had SPD during my second pregnancy, which was a huge shock since my DH was away for 4 mths and I was quite debilitated by it. To the best of my knowledge there is no association between SPD and early labour, although I understand some drs might consider it grounds for an induction if you're in a lot of pain and ask for one.

With regards the actual effect on your labour I understand you may need some extra positioning assistance depending on your symptoms, however I had a c/section this time so if anything DD's birth was the first time in months of being completely pain-free! LOL

There is a fantastic site here Pelvic Instability Association . Try not to get too scared when you read it as SPD can get quite bad but not necessarily. In fact if you see a physio early on and start doing the right things you can minimise your symptoms and carry on functioning to a degree.
