    Why the ankles??

I saw my GP today as just found out PG again after an mc in Dec. He checked my blood pressure which he said was good but then he asked to look at my ankles.. Does anyone have ANY idea why he would look at my ankles?? I didn't think of it at the time till i walked out and thought "why did he look at my ankles"... I'm only 4 weeks...

    Any suggestions??

I'd suggest swelling too - hopefully its not because of a foot fetish

    ETA: congratulations!!!!!!!!!

Swollen ankles can be a sign of blood pressure/fluid balance/heart problems. I don't think he was a foot fetishist, just being thorough, as MummaMia said!

hahahaha on the foot fetish!! I've been seeing my GP since I was 10 years old and I'm 32 now so he knows me well and the "foot fetish" suggestion made me giggle.

I assumed swelling to but didn't think it would be an issue at 4 weeks.. He said my BP was good so who knows why he was checking it so early but yes he is thorough and why i continue to see him for anything important and why i have to wait 2.5 hrs to get in.. When you find a good Dr then you stick with them - he knows every broken bone and each injury I've had without having to look it up so that is saying something..

    Thanks for the feedback ladies..

It's lovely that you have such an awesome doctor - I have a long wait for mine every time too but I would never see anyone else! Having a strong doctor-patient relationship is an awesome thing.

Maybe if he look at them again next time you could ask why - I always ask my doctor things like that lol

I though swollen ankles was a sign of high BP and the onset of pre-eclampsia?

My Ob checks my ankles every appt before checking my BP.

Ive never thought about it but every check up i had when preg with DD the doctor checked my ankles and asked if i had any swelling.

Its probably just a routine thing he does on pregnant women.

My ankles were massively swollen from about 25 weeks lol...but they were never checked, I guess I must not have shown other signs? My midwives were never concerned about anything though haha.

I had swollen ankles with DS1. Cant remember when, but I needed new shoes. My BP was fine throughout. I figured it was water retention or something to do with the extra weight I was carrying.
