Would a red bull be ok just this once?

    Hi...

I would normally never even consider this .... but I got about 2 hours sleep last night and I am so tired I feel nauseous.

Normally I would just try and go home and get some sleep but I have to be at work today and I really need to be alert ..... I've already p!ss farted around all morning ...LOL

Just this once do you think it would be ok to have a can of red bull or something similar just to get me through?

I don't have any caffeine at all normally.....

I would say try some tea or something first. Redbull is a no no - it has the highest amount of caffine than any other drink. Really not good for bubs.

Drinks lots of water and make sure you eat something. That will lift your energy levels.

ETA - just found this on a medical website...

First, their use during pregnancy. Pregnancy increases the half-life of caffeine. Half-life is the time it takes your body to clear half of the substance you’ve ingested. Normally, the half-life of caffeine in an adult is 4 to 6 hours, but in a pregnant woman, it jumps to 18 hours. Plus, caffeine crosses the placenta with ease, exposing the growing fetus to the substance as well.

Yea, My gp advised me to steer clear of all energy drinks Try having a very strong brew of tea, it supposably has more caffeine than coffee.

I'd steer clear of it. You might find that once it wears off you'll feel worse for it too.

I've seen on some energy drinks a warning that pregnant and lactating women should not drink it. I think it's the Gurana that is most harmful.

Best motto I think is "if in doubt, don't!" I drank coke in my pregnancy but did try to limit that after I noticed my daughter moved a lot more after I'd had any form of caffine.

No way would I touch that. It makes me hyper for the whole day even when not pregnant. I wouldnt hesitate to drink coke or coffee though....even chocolate!!

    The answer is probably NO...
BUT I had one while pregnant, on numerous occasions, and my DD turned out perfect!
The only issue I think there is with red bull and pregnancy is that red bull will make your blood pressure higher, which could be a risk if you are suffering with PE or something. Oh and also the caffein.

As well as caffeine, you need to avoid gurana (sp?). That is a definite no-no in pg and is in a lot of energy drinks.
