    Amazing how it changes you...

I'm not talking the emotions and scars that going through LTTTC and/or AC leave you with. I just found myself reflecting on how it's given me a completely different perspective on some things.

For example - see the word "cycle" and what do you think of? Most people would think of a bicycle. My immediate thought is an IVF cycle and it can make reading something when I'm not really paying attention quite confusing. "I'm going cycling tomorrow"... Really? Don't you need a couple of weeks for that?

That sort of thing... Anyone else find that it's happened to them too?

Not quite as out there, but as soon as someone mentions having scans, I immediately think of dildo cam and wonder why they have instructions to have a full bladder.

Yep - the world is a completely different place. Even at work I ask some questions that people wonder how I know about that (like OHSS ) I get my education from BB - and my BB friends!!

I regularly drive past a home that has it's business sign out the front, "Funky Follicles".
Most people would think hairdresser, but I think of ovaries and eggs!

Michelle, I'd do double takes every time OH&S issues were brought up in staff meetings because I kept thinking of OHSS...

Megan, I'd be thinking the exact same thing!

I also have to confess to the odd weird moment where I'm reminded that people actually do get pregnant from having sex.

    Oooh yes, this is me!!!
I say ''an internal scan?'' and they say ''huh?''

I do it a lot when people mention blood tests etc as well... and I find myself looking at things like follicles, etc in articles & then confusing myself if not reading it properly

I do find myself saying things to ''normal'' people as well (with reference to IVF things) & I forget that they don't know what I'm talking about when they look at me blankly (especially the abbreviation FS - I forget that the average person doesn't have one of those )

And you can get pregnant by having sex??!!!! Who'd have thought?!!!

This is kinda long, but recently my brother was stressing about when their baby was conceived because the date the doctor gave them was 'wrong'. (you know the number of weeks since AF not the number of weeks since Actual conception - or 'the deed').
I went forth in great details as to the logistics of it all - relating it to my embryos and the EPU and the ET etc. Ooops. I confused the heck out of him and probably told him some things about his lil' sis that he didn't need to know
In the end I just said 'trust me, this is one thing i DO know'.

I forget that most people never have to know about all of nitty gritty dates and details - they just get the fun part

he he...this thread reminds me of when I would tell people that Archer was little for the number of weeks gestation...they would try and tell me how these things can be wrong etc etc...and I would say 'no' we know exactly when he was put back, and even know what he looked like! I got lots of blank stares...

Such a crack up, I also used to get asked how far along I was as I was huge close to the end. Then would get asked if I was sure as I looked further along, yep I knew to the day, time even when she was put back and how many days she was when put back so the dates were spot on. People look at you like you are some kind of weirdo...

It's so funny as now I am already getting asked when we are planning on having the next. When I say I am looking at doing a transfer in Jan 2011, the same blank faces although my MIL wanted to point out "that it might happen naturally next time".. Umm, isn't the only way to get pregnant via a FS, you mean I've been getting it wrong all this time

ddeeerrr everyone knows you can't get preg by having sex! you lot are crraaaazzzeeee

oh kellyD - the number of 'it'll happen naturally next time' comments we are already getting! i feel like say "oh **** orf''. hmm

but seriously, i think i'm much more empathetic to others. also when dealing with other young couples in terms of when the baby issue comes up - before i would have just asked the same ignorant questions that now irritate me so much. but i never do.

i also find my sis (whose having troubles conceiving) and another friend also now on the intervention track, confiding in me a lot more.

oh, one other thing, not so much AC-related but BB related - i have called my DH, DH to other people recently instead of "my husband" lol. they look at me very very strangely!
