Clexane after birth

Hi. My doctor put me on clexane from day 1 of my pregnancy because I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Embolism resulting from DVT- 3 years after my last pregnancy, and he therefore wanted to take precaution.
I have been on Clexane 20mg for the first 3 months and I'm now on 40mg daily. My question is, how long after delivery would I have to continue with clexane? My doctor says I would have to continue for as long as I am breast feeding!!

Hi Kenyan mum, I have been on Clexane 20mg for the entire pregnancy, went off for a week prior to my C-section, and started back on last night, my OB as said to stay on for the next 6 weeks. But I guess every one is different. All the best with your pregnancy!

Hello,
I was on heparin for the first 20wks of the pg, and then clexane for the 2 wks after my c-section - much prefered the heparin - it hurt less

Not sure about the link with BF and clexane...sorry
