Parenting after Long Term TTC #6

All the effort you girls go to making these cakes. I bought Tara's one as there was no way I was adding making and decorating a cake onto my list of birthday party things I had to do...

Oh, tonight is the last night of my pessaries (I know you girls will understand) but so far everything seems to be going good. My m/s has now eased up and only comes back now and again to remind me, but I am so tired all of the time. Poor Tara seems to spend a lot of time in bed these days as well so mummy can rest but I think she might be doing some more growing so she is tired anyway.

My belly has now really popped out and I can no longer suck in my tummy to hide the fact anymore, although sometimes it feels like I just need to do a big poop KWIM. Next scan in 2 1/2 weeks so FX all is going nicely but if my belly is anything to go by then these guys are growing at great rates.

As I said, it was awful. Inedible even. Even looked awful.

Anyway - we have 2 embies left and will give them a go. We've had incredible good luck with transfers & pregnancies so don't face the same daunting challenges as some of you :hug: I think if I had serious health issues, difficult pregnancies or if we'd suffered many failed cycles and/or miscarriages, then I'd feel very differently about the whole thing.

Definitely have to agree about all the cute babies!

Haha, but Kelly you at least had a party! I had little ol me, DH and Jazzy and I still made it look hard. In my defence, I did take her over to Adelaide the day before and was a bit shagged but I wanted a bit of a party feel even though I had her in quarantine (keeping her away from kids til the op :(

It's like a safety-blanket feeling when you have those pessaries so I know what you mean. You have those little sticky bubs holding on tight and you don't need any help. You're almost through the worst of the m/s phase and into the 2nd trimester so just rest up and listen to your body. Sleep is something you can never make up if you work up too much of a debt. I'm glad Tara is helping you out. I get the same and I'm not even pg, just the breast feeding takes it out of me and I need an iron check.

It's almost time to wean Jasmine. I never thought that I would last 12 months but it has been fantastic and so convenient for all the travel I've had to do. My body has handled like a dream and I know I've been really lucky. I know others choose to go on but I would be happy to stop now only that I'm keeping her going until the operation so that I can still nurse and comfort during that period. Don't mention that word. I don't want mine back - I've had 21 months of freedom and no chocoholic binges.

Hope you're feeling better Neptune. Take it easy now that your exams are over and you don't need to push yourself too hard. How about a spa treatment or massage to calm that stress. Take care of Adam's mummy xo

Got the boys appointments booked. Xavier is seeing the head surgeon from PMH our childrens hospital and he bulk bills so there is no out of pocket expence. Campbell is seeing a kidney specialist so different doctor out of the same rooms and he will charge $215+ they cant tell me the exact charge because it goes up today and they dont know by how much. How can there be such a difference in charges. It is disgusting that they charge this much for children. What about people who cant afford this and have to go through the public hospital. We are already waiting a month to see them and that is going private.

How much does Jagger look like the cartoon pic in BOC'S signature? He is so cute...and talented to be sitting up like that in the bath so young.

As for what tiffins are, well I thought you might be more cosmopolitan than that:p They are tins that stack together and keep your food warm (seen all over India, but we got ours in Thailand for yummy night picnics of curries and rice).

Busy busy busy, as we all are but I have to have a litlle brag. I finished all the chrissie shopping yesterday. Just to pick up the kids layby on the 1st of dec and that is chrissie and 2 birthdays all sorted. I even started wrapping the ones we have here. Yay for me. Campbell bought Xavier a big christmas bear so we had the huge drama of where he was going to hide it from him. lol

saph - you super organised woman you! last year i had all by chrissy shopping done by oct but not wrapped as well! lol. This year i haven't even thought about it... can't really do much anyway as we are in transit... so have to wait til i'm at mum and dad's in FNQ to do it i think. ugh.

Hey girlies, give me some ideas for 1st birthday pressies for Thy Gorgeous One. We are thinking of getting him a trike that converts into a ... well trike. but it does from 10mnths to 3 years with a sun roof thing and 5 point harness and goes to allow them independent riding. Big Dub has them for $100 and we figure number 2 would use it too.

What did you get your kid/kids??

I only have 1 thing to buy - DS' secret santa assignment. Then I'll make some charitable donations and I'm done :D Pretty slack, hey?

1st birthday - you know, I'm not sure we got DS anything (aside from teh ****ty cake)... He got stuff from the family - clothes, books, puzzles, maraccas (great present!), some little cars & trucks, that kind of thing. Those trikes might be a bit hard for him now (i think I saw them in a catalogue yesterday!) - there are ones designed for the little ones, that they can just push along. DS still can't work the peddles on his trike, but plenty his age can.

Well Xavier is getting a wooden kitchen. Being number 2 we have all the baby toys already and to be perfectly honest he is so not interested in them. He prefers to play with Campbells toys. So we have got him a few fisher price toys and then the same stocking stuff as Campbell. Cars, beach towel, bucket and spade, ball, new pjs. (For Christmas)

For Campbells 1st birthday we got him that bike, but it only lasted him a year as he out grew it and he found the seated bikes to hard to ride. Another good idea is the little tikes cars. Campbell used his until he grew out of it recently. He still pushes it around the yard, I think he is wating for Xavier to get big enough to go in it.

Birthdays and Christmas' are big deals in our house with lots of pressies but then they dont get much else throughout the year. And we are like you Campbell is so excited about christmas but he still has his birthday first. (16th) So his party is on the 16th and then our family christmas is on the 19th. (We are running away for christmas and having just the four of us.)

And as my reward for finishing all my shopping Xavier and I (Campbells daycare day today) are going to the movies to watch life as we know it. I'll give you the review later. lol

lol marcellus - let go of the cake! lol. the trike we are looking at has wheels that lock in, so you just push them about until they can get to grips with the pedals iykwim.
I know everyone will give him stuff just that we'll be in a hotel between homes in a strange city, so the only pressie he'll get is from us... I really want him to have something special and make a fuss of him on the day. I know he won't KNOW it's a spesh day but i will and all the other pressies probably won't turn up for another month til we're settled.

darn that baby. i ssooo wanted to go to playgroup today, it started at 10am and finishes at noon... but somebody, after waking at flipping 6am and not going back to sleep grh, decided he would have a little sleep at 9.45am.... HE'S STILL ASLEEP!!! suppose that what happens when you wake up at 9pm and scream til 11pm like he did last night.

not really sure why he did it either. he got a bottle, drink all but 40ml. screamed and screamed so offered a new full bottle and drank all but 40ml. screamed and screamed. so read him a book or two, had a really long cuddle and he went to sleep! wtf? do you ever think your child is sent by the devil to kill you? hhhmmmm pondering........

Hi Grub - that is exactly what we got for Jazzy's first birthday and she loves it! We are getting to the stage now where we have taken off the security 'rails' and trying to teach her how to peddle. It has been a great buy.

Marcellus, dont stress Campbell is 4 and he cant ride a bike either, but then he only ever went backwards in the walker. We thought our walker was a dud, but xavier has worked it out and is everywhere in it nothing stops him. (Not even my legs) lol

well marcellus and saph, we all know MY son is a genius. am just filling out his mensa application now... I might be biased, but his nanna and granny agree completely with me. so no backwards riding here, i'm sure... pretty sure... mostly sure... i think :p

Howdy, just killing time until we have a Skype session with Jazzy's therapist. I'm an expert in first birthdays now Grub, just ask me:p. As I suspected, they would rather have the box! So whatever you buy, just make sure it comes in a box. Clothes got thrown over the shoulder (of course), like my cousin used to say.."err, stuff". I actually wanted to get one of those bike/trikes you're talking about but I think it's a while off yet, so I got good solid developmental stuff. I think Ash will benefit more from walker type things for a while yet, like ride-on, push along things if he doesn't have one but only you know what he's like. There's no way we could put Jazz into that bike seat like you and DH did (even with your mighty Super woman belt to save the day). sorry for the in-joke everyone. I tried to double up and get a block trolley, hoping it would do as a walker as well but nah, we still have to get a walker because she just wants to walk and stand but it's a drag on us always having to get grabbed and then we're stuck. The poor thing is forever being palmed off and set up to play inthe kitchen cupboards but she takes it a bit literally and climbs all through them to reach every single thing and empty them completely. I was trying to cut back on bulky plastic toys that only last for one developmental stage but i guess walkers are pretty important (probably more so than developing the kitchen cupboard crawl technique!)

So my advice is that the first birthday is likely to be more about you, than him iykwim. I found this great little wooden toy at the post office on her birthday so that her dad could give her something after work. It cost 14 bucks, consists of 4 wooden balls and a wooden hammer that you hammer through a little bench frame thing. It provided hours of fun and she uses it to put all her blocks into. she gets it out every day and she can't hammer the balls through yet but it's just one of those great toys that she can use so many ways. sooo the moral of the story is ...get him anything. did you find this helpful?? You know waht A also really liked (and still does) is those little wooden toys on wheels (he has a dog, buzzy bee and train) that come with a string so you can pull them around.
I suspect A is just too busy talking to learn to use his legs properly.
