that's good news about the tv and the laybay saph - you were sounding pretty stressed love. so sending you big hugs! hope that hernia sorts itself out for your boy.
not much to report here. waiting at my parent's til dec 13 then fly to darwin. so catching up with family and friends and relaxing for a bit til we have to unpack a house lol.
bub has been pretty good settling in here. he had his immunisations the other day and is doing very gross runny poos - not sure if its from the shots or if he's getting some more teeth. He's got the top and bottom 4 so not sure if it's early for more etc. any thoughts?

Aw, poor Grub you're a Nige today. I wouldn't have popped my head up from my lurking place, but well you know I can't resist a poor lost soul. Are you okay mate? How did you survive the trauma of having noone talk to you all day? Shaaaaame job 'ey sis? :p
Well there's no point denying it, I'm a star and a legend! We were sick this week so I had to cancel flying to Melbourne and then wouldn't even chance flying to Adelaide, so to keep a whole bunch of media commitments that I really wanted to do for the place that supports us, I did the big, car and ferry trip yesterday. left home at 7am and got back at 9.00p.m. It was frickin mental I tell you. I can't talk down how stressful it was to perform for a bunch of camera men (one in particular was a complete .... fill the blank). We arrived at the Centre, flustered and late and ten news were already waiting, then we performed for like an hour (cochlears on, cochlears off and No she can't wear that ridiculous looking but oh so practical hat to keep them on....grrrrr), then ten outstays channel 7 and channel 9, so we are flicked back and forth for the shots that ten need and everyone else is held up. All t.v crews leave and the photographer from the newspaper shows up, Jazz is frazzled, I'm feeling frazzled for both of us, we perform until 3.00, so all up and constantly without a break we have been doing this crap from 11.30 am until 3pm. ****! I did this stunt out of charity, to give back to the Centre that has done so much for us and I tried to be so happy to roll with it, but I was soooooooooooo smashed. I broke a few time to BF Jazzy and made sure that no matter what, they kept us supplied with water as it was a furnace in Adelaide that day and of course everyone wanted natural light photos. So I could have hit someone, but decided to go with it and it didn't kill me but NEVER again. I didn't even get to see any of the news, neither did DH as we were both travelling, so there you go! But we got up nice and early to trot down to the shops and get the big Adelaide paper where Jazzy and mummy made page 3 girls!!
Today, jazz is a mental case, and I feel so hungover and not with it, DH has been in Vic at conferences all week and he's done in too, but hey, we have got lots of great photos and video (when I track them down for copies) and Jazz has been asked to be an Ambassador of a new fundraising project.....and.... draw breath...
Now no knives out ladies, but guess what has happened since Adelaide heard news of me taking jazz interstate for the surgery? they only went and offered Adelaide's first family the double implant in one surgery, after having told me they don't support it or agree with it and wouldn't even refer me to Melb so that I could have my travel costs covered by the patient travel scheme. Ahh, now if only I was a cynic, I might read something into that, but being the optimist I am trying to be I think only that if we helped clear the way for other families, then that has to be a good thing. Jazz was operated on 3 weeks ago and the same time, the first Adelaide family were offered it for their baby when they hadn't even considered it. That baby was operated on Thursday!!!!!! Another baby has since been offered. :wtf::wtf: I'm struggling with that, but I have to deal with it cold and not do anything rash. For now, jazz has made history as being the first South Australian to have the 2 implants done in one surgery (we actually didn't realise that - their attitudes are so backward here) so we will ride that happy wave for a while.
I'll leave you on a "heaps cool" note...haha, trying out my SA speak. jazzy reacted to sound today...it's really awesome that the picture is just building slowly as the little neurons all work in her brain to catch up and learn to recognise the sound. So she has this book "lester lizard" that has an inbuilt siren that is so annoying but just right on a frequency that actually gets through to where her hearing is set at the moment. She really heard it and made really obvious motions, lilke grabbing at her head, patting it and then pulling her coils and speech processors off. As I played it over and over, we gave her lots of encouragement and smiles and she got less afraid and reacted with smiles, but still touching her head...now THAT was a moment!! she also reacted to soem tests that we did as mock-ups for the news crew in the audiology booth so it's all comint together and the little cloth ears are starting to soak up the world of sound.
Righto you lot, I'm going to bed, the Mongols are all dead (I gave up watching and left DH to watch the Genghis Khan movie), jazzy stirred but didnt wake for the mignight munchies and so it's time to go. have a ripper weekend!

Far out Murph!
Wow, that's about the only response I can muster to all that - you deserve a medal and a long holiday
-
Oh murph love again you have made me cry.
I guess I should explain, I am a teacher of children with special needs. So you can see why your situation pulls at my heart strings, often children who have a special need dont have the support of there parents to be their advocates. I comend you on your effort. Jazzy will lead a full and happy life with you as her mum.
Must go, have 2 shattered boys and we have swimming lessons. Rats.

Murph, I'm also in tears. So happy for you guys, but p***d off about Adelaide's 'tude. That sucks and you have every right to be miffed. Doesn't matter in the long run, but in the short term allow yourself the luxury of feeling annoyed. You worked so hard, and yes i would hope that you pave the way for others, but still not fair.:o
-
neptune - so good to hear you are still here. How is Adam going? and the big clean up?
murph - you made me feel sooo tired with all that travelling and media commitments. tv are a pain in the bum and some paper snappers think their shiite don't smell, it drives me nuts (i'm a journo). But do try to think the best, that it's you guys that forced them to look at their outdated policy and ways and change. that's so great about the pieces slowly coming together for Jazzy.
saph - how are things going? survive swimming?
well it seems ash is teething - four eye teeth. one looks like a blood blister (ouchy) and his gums are so red and swollen! poor bubbub. and it explains the terrible pooeys. he's very very cuddly atm too, which is nice and now gives kisses lol. open-mouthed, slobbery ones.
i'm feeling very tired of late. now 11 weeks up the duff and am feeling it. sorry not much else to say. just a bit exhausted atm.

Oh Murph, keep riding the happy wave and try not to let that cynicism take over. You are a legend. And it is heaps cool that jazz is reacting to sounds.

Hi all,
Have been MIA but always reading.
Murph how amazing that Jazzy is starting to react to some sounds. It must be such an overwhelming time for you all. I know it must be hard to see at others are now getting what you fought so hard for with Jazzy, but how amazing to know that you and Jazzy have paved the way so that others do not have to go through what you guys did.
Barney that is pretty low from your brother! You vent all you want, I am gob smacked that someone would do that.
Marcellus it can't be long to go now! How exciting.
Grub and kelly hope you are both traveling well and your pregnancies are treating you well.
Hi to Neptune hope all is well with you x
Hi to Lenny, saph and all you other lovelies.
Just a quick proud mummy moment from me. My little girl can count to 10 on her own! I can't believe it and am very proud. She is just such a joy, speaking so much and picking up New words everyday. She now says small sentences. We are home from work/nursery today as she has had a fever for the past 3 days so we are off to the doctor today. Luckily no convulsions this time, fingers crossed.
Hope you are all well. I don't seem to contribute much anymore, but I am always reading, so please know that I still care!

:hello: everybody!
Just popping in to say hi. Teeth #2 & #3 have made their way through in the last 24hrs. He now has both top front teeth and one bottom front. NOt looking forward to him grinding them, that sound always makes my stomach churn!
Quick question, and sorry if :tmi: don't know if this has happened to anyone but after my :bfn: I had a normal period, but now, 13 days later I've started again. Is that normal? AF is always pretty out of whack for me but I'm still on the metformin which usually makes her pretty regular. Is this normal?
