:hug::hug:oh poor you and linc green big hugs hunny and hang in there sweety i know its terrible when they need to do pooys.
i found that if i used the coloxyl drops they would work but i tell ya what ill never use them again i rekon they give them more pains in the tummy than anything :shakehead:
so my trick i have found is PRUNE JUICE ONLY A TINY BIT LIKE 1-2MLS IN WATER once every couple of days hun even if he wont drink it in the water i trick charlie and put in it her formula bottle ;) and ive also got another awsom trick hun lots of belly rubs around the belly button ,rub both ways ( clockwise and anti clockwise)just nice and gently and also when he finally does poo lift him up over your shoulder sort of gives them a better pushing motion .
it will get better sweet girl i was sooo stressed about this pooy bizz but all seems to be going really well for us now ,his first poo may hurt a bit if he hasnt done one for a while but after that they should soften rite up and he will prob still cry but i think it just takes a while for them to get use to the sensations of pooing :rolleyes:
please do not put any extra water in his formula bottles ,thats not what we are suppose to do still follow the dirrections on the tin hun as wrongly made bottles can make them very sick and he wont be getting a proper feed ;) GIVE HIM WATER SEPERATLY KK and also in the water old wives tale or not i still put a bit of brown sugar in the water makes her think its not just water lol...

Do you mind if I pop in here? My DS was conceived after four treatment cycles (IUI) following 18 months of TTC.

I'm also feeling a lot of time pressure to start TTC number 2 (although some days I think we should just stick at one), as I have no idea how long it will take, or if we'll need assistance again. I'm still BF (although have had to complement with formula since DS was 3 months, due to low milk supply) and AF has not returned, which makes me a bit anxious. I enjoy BFing DS, but am putting pressure on myself to stop so my cycles can return. I change my mind every day as to what I should do.

Anyway, that's enough about me. Looking forward to chatting with some other likeminded people.

Hi Honeybee. I hope I won't freak you out when I say I think I remember who you used to be.

I'm the same age - and also feel the pressure some times that I should be going for #2 ASAP, but DH and I are pretty comfortable waiting. Also pretty comfortable with only having one child if that's the way it turns out. I'm on some fairly nasty medications and need to have stopped them for 6 months before I can go back to IVF so it's a big decision to go again. Although, we do have the advantage of having a couple of frozen embryos from Sam's cycle... So I can wait until I'm 39 and still have the same chance of getting pregnant that I did with Sam at 33. Without that, I think I'd be in a bigger hurry to get back to assisted conception, though.

Interesting day here - Sam appears to have decided to skip his afternoon nap but both DH and I are ready for one.

Hi BW - It's good having a couple of frosties in storage for if/when you want to get back on the rollercoaster. I hate thinking about it, makes me stressed. Am currently thinking I will give it until DS is 18 months, then try to do something about it. But as I said, I change my mind every day.

Welcom BDT and Honeybee. BDT, the first few months can be stressful but hang in there, it gets better each day as we become more atuned to our LOs.

BW, what a horrid week you had. Glad Sam is doing well. About the speech, we can't really use Miss E as an benchmark. I read a research paper that said at this early stage (1 year old) the most important thing is that they understand us and communicates with us in their own way. We should be worried (but not alarm) if they don't point or make eye contact (especially the finger pointing).

BG, Miss E sounds so cute. I am turning bright green!

Grub, I've got 4 frosties from Lyla's batch of embies and although I do feel positive about them I must play down my expectation so I wouldn't be so dissappointed if they don't work. I will be content with 1 because I don't think emotionally, I could go through another stimulated cycle.

Kelly, Lyla did the "tuck feet under bum" thing for a week or two and then "see saw" crawl with feet pushing but head still down or get into "push up" stance without getting anywhere to finally crawling at 5 months. Although she does skip the "natural crawling" soon after for the "monkey walk" and then pull to stand. Will be very interested to see what Tara does.

Smithy, glad that Charlie is going along nicely.

Grub I think that's why I stoped BF Linc was screaming at my breast and was being so fussy I took it to heart as when he's being fussy around a bottle who cares. Oh DH is a PIG he's not in my good books and frankly he could have stayed away! Also a friend recommended the DUNSTON Baby Language DVD I've ebayed it and will let you know re what baby wants.

BW skipping naps how was he in the evening?

Marcellus I've thought about it long and hard but he was in pain with my milk but he's in pain now, OMG what to do.

Yes he poo'd Friday after a really long tummy massage with mummy and then again after a bath with DH. all ok and soft, happy baby loads of sleep then came yesterday :doh: He's been pushing all day and all night :cry: I'm so tired and had no help from DH. After me finally asking for the third time DH fed Linc and it all went well but then he left him on the floor for like 30mins and POWER CHUCK! Linc did one last night too but only a little DH thinks this was his whole feed :doh:

So after making a mad dash home to get my tooth brush (at my mums cos DH is off again) I then got handed the baby while DH went to a friends. then we're going shopping then he's off again. After a day of ****ing me and Linc around yesterday doing quick stops at the hardware (an hour) and generally groning every time I asked for help I'm ready to be a single mum!

Ok ok back to the poo, Linc pood last night after a lot of rubbing of his belly but it was pretty hard, so I got out the water again and nothing yet, he was straining all night and only settled (still wimpering) in my arms so no sleep for mummy. I slid him into the sling while he was sleeping so he's not stressed out. I don't know what to do. I feel like this is a never ending battle, runns from my milk blocked up from Formula, power chucks. Am I doing something wrong or is this just what babies do? and if so why don't your friends tell you.

Feeling a little sorry for myself this morning and also really worried Linc is no better off than on my milk. Which is probably gon now anyways boobs are back to soft and no more leeking. :cry:

Yes, this is what babies do. You're probably at around the worst of it right now - colicy/refluxy/unsettledness/whatever you want to call it tends to peak at around 6 weeks.
A lot of parenting is trial and error - we just figure things out as we go along. Sometimes things work well adn we give ourselves a little pat on the back, and sometimes they don't seem to... and unfortunately at this point we berate ourselves for doing the wrong thing (but how do we know until we try?). You're still building your confidence. Confidence comes from competency and competency comes from doing things (ie, trial and error) so as difficult and overwhelming as this is right now, I think this is a really important process. You will get there :hug:
And just putting this out there - your supply may have dropped, but you will still have milk; it's only been a few days.

his pooing sounds just like what my charlies were like and if i were you i would for sure be doing the prune juice thing it really does work a treat hun.
im so sorry your not getting any sleep too as this just doesnt help things when your so bloody tired,so thank goodness for your mum being able to help sometimes.
me personally thinks you are doing everything rite for your baby they are just soooo very hard to read sometimes as you already know ive had 5 kids now and still have no clue as each kid is so different just do the best job that you can hun as this is really all we can do but i think YOUR DOING AN AWSOM JOB :D
as for the POWER CHUCKS one of the other bellybelly girls told me to raise them in there little beds after a feed ,so i did i put a blanket under charlies little matress in her basinett so her head is raised and again worked a treat and im also useing that stuff called INFACOL witch is also very good for windys.

Green if it helps, Xavier is 5 weeks one day today (really must change ticker but just dont know how) and we are going through the same thing. He is really colicy and has decided that 3 am until 10am is the best time to be unsettled. I feel like a walking zombie. I can only get him to sleep on his tummy because he tucks his legs up under him which helps the pain. I am so busy this week with everyones 6 week checks, I just dont know how to keep going. At least the house is extremely clean, it is the only way I can stay awake is to keep cleaning. I cant sleep during the day as I have to watch Campbell. we are also suffering from the power chucks. Just love we it sits in your bra. We have put bricks under the head end of the bed. Campbell slept like this until he went into a big bed.

Smithy - Campbells pead told us to put the extra 10mls in his bottle. This was when he was having big bottles. I weaned him at nine months after doing back to work when he was 7 months. I cant even remember how big the bottles were.

BDT - it took me a while to come over here to.

Well hope everyone is doing well, not that I want to wish my time with small Xavier away but I cant wait to get past these next few weeks and for things to settle down. /the 6 week mark can be hell.

Greenslw - I totally second the prune juice - I found it worked a treat when DS was constipated. Even one dose was enough to loosen things up.

saph i know what you mean. I didn't want to wish my time with DS away BUT i did long for him to grow a bit.
I am really not a big fan of the newborn, young-young baby stage. i have definitely enjoyed it more in the past few days because he's more engaged and aware (and has better head control lol).

Ditto, 6 weeks is the killer week. If you go back to my older posts around this time I was literally going insane. I even had a 10 hour screaming rage one of the days with nothing I could do. I know it's hard and I also had know one else I could rely on, only DH who was at work, but I look at my happy little girl now and can't believe it is the same person.

All the mum's at Mothers Group who have little babies, I now give them warning of the 6 week horrors. It seems every baby goes through it no matter what they are like. Damn those Wonder Weeks. Luckily for us we are not due for another one until 26 weeks (5 weeks to go) and Tara seems to handle them a bit better now she is older.

Hmmm... Have to say that we missed the 6 week horrors. But with a premmie bub, everything, particularly in the early days, tended to happen on a slightly different timetable to normal. Ok, you can all hate me now. :p Just remember - this too will pass.

Smithy, Miss C was a very good size for a 36 weeker. Sam was 2.48kg and a friend's 36 weeker was only 2.1kg. I can't do the conversion in my head but 6lb 10oz is a fair bit bigger than the 5.5lb that Sam was! He's grown quickly too - and gave himself a bruise by trying to walk underneath a table - smack in the middle of his forehead right above his left eye - where he has another bruise underneath the eye from tripping over on Thursday! Poor bubba! :(

BW yeh miss c was a really good size for 36 weeks we were all very suprised when she came out and we got told her weight as i was very worried she would be like my jaymee leigh 4pd 9oz ,but no miss c was a big bubba and didnt even need the special care nursey or anything ,thank goodness hun.
i remeber when you had little sam hun and wow how time flys hes over 1 year old now dear little man :)
and i totally agree on the premmie bubs my jayme was the easiest baby ive ever had ,no problem at all we even used to have to wake her for feeds as a matter a fact had to wake her for everything lol..

Yup, we spent a lot of time waking Sam for feeds... Not that I'm in a hurry to do the prem baby thing again, but he was really cruisey as a baby. Still is now as a toddler too. I think sometimes you can get lucky!

Just wanting to vent, DH is so dumb ggrrr. I left Tara with him for an 2 hours to go grocery shopping and told him she might be need to have another sleep and she will probably need feeding at around 2.30pm.

I get home at 2.30pm only to be told that she has been crying and upset for the whole time I was away and she was even sobbing, poor poppet. I was told she wouldn't go to sleep and just screamed when put down... so asked "have you fed her" to be told "you said she wasn't due to get fed until 2.30pm". If she is hungry then feed her, because I said 2.30pm this became the time she was to be fed whether she screamed or not. I think she was just so happy to see me and once she had a bit of her bottle she perked up a bit for me and once all finished she literally crashed (who could blame her). I just wish that when DH is at home he would pay some more attention to her and her needs, instead of using me as the "what's wrong with her" person. I dread to think what he would be like if I left then together for a whole day as he uses my "guide times" as gospel.

Once I got home he seemed to flee up to his shed, more out of relief that I was home and would look after Tara again. Do men ever get the instinct of what is needed???

We've just found ourselves with some noisy neighbours. About three weeks ago some people moved in over the back fence - DH has had a look and says it looks like 2-3 young blokes. They have a stereo with an amazing sub - and absolutely no respect or consideration for anyone else in the neighbourhood. For the first week we were subjected to doof doof from 4:30 in the afternoon through to 11pm at night. And it hasn't got any better since. Over the weekend we ended up calling the police 4 times in 3 days - but I doubt they are really taking it seriously (the neighbours or the police). We're starting some things through the council, but meanwhile I sit at home with constant headaches due to the noise and the fact that just hearing doof doof makes me extremely agitated and stressed. So I'm getting no school work done at all. I'm sitting here with all the windows closed and the air conditioner turned on and my own stereo turned up really loud in an attempt to completely mask it... Unfortunately, Sam's not going to sleep because of it so I'm still not getting any work done and all my old documents from the pre-Sam days have disappeared from the school server... I burned them to a disk as I kind of expected it - but as we moved, I can't find the disk! I'm so screwed....

as we rent privatly ( a beautiful home too and pay big rent) this b***ch next door just never shuts up screaming ,yelling,swearing,and every time she does miss c wakes up like shes scared :rolleyes: im SOsick of this women if you want to call her that .
they are thie biggest drug addicts,cars come and go all day everyday all they do is fight over money and drugs "WERS MY VALIUM WERES MY CERAPAX WERES MY BONGS AND SO ON " hubby who have slept with the language it just gross they threaten to kill each other all the time.THEN you have her 3 grown drug addict kids coming around doing the same thing then there all fighting over drugs and money
i just want to moove house girls but im so tired and exausted as you all know its a big job with a new born baby then its the money to get another house grrrrrrrrr i dont want to call the ploice as they will smash my house and give me grief all the time im so over this,midnight the other night they started yelling and screaming OMG but if its not then going off its there bloddy dogs barking all the time..oh well from tomorrow ill be calling and seeing what i can do hopefully if what i over heard the other day while they were yelling and fighting they are $1450 behind in rent so maybe they go soon anyway but i guess not as they always seem to get away with things like this .

oh well thats my b***ch for the day im just so upset and agry rite now as she hasnt shut her big mouth all day i feel like just jumping the fence and punching her myself but then ill have the cops on my door

Smithy, you have my sympathies. Ours is just music, and as much as it gives me a really intense physical reaction (there's nothing worse than just hearing the bass and not the rest of it!) as we used to live near a leagues club and had similar until about 3am every Friday and Saturday night - got that fixed through the liquor licensing board... having to deal with the yelling and that sort of language day in day out - urgh!

We can't move - just can't afford it and getting a rental in Sydney at the moment is near to impossible - the demand is just so high at the moment!

BW and Smithy huge :hug::hug::hug:to you both. Home is sacred, and you shouldn't have to put up with that. But that's easier said than done. I am a great believer in 'what goes around comes around' and I'm sure these people will get theirs one day, but I hope it's soon for your sake.

KellyD - vent away. That is annoying, and I sympathise because DH jsut does what he thinks is right when I'm not here (he's never right and doesn't listen to me!) and I come home to a screaming baby when Adam is not really a screamer....DH just mis-reads the signs. On the up side, I feel grateful that he can mind Adam while I go an get things done, so I'm now trying not to whinge too much, but I know how you feel love. I now jsut try and be very careful in how I ask him to do things ie. try and make out it's his idea!

Saph is your little one bottle or breast fed? I've just upped the incline in linc's cot too. Hope this works as the only way he is sleeping is in the sling with a pillow under his head and one on the side so he's jamed in there, which I wont do when I'm sleeping for fear of him getting under something. I also baught some of those zip up suits which are working really well he's a real riggler and wrapping doesn't work real well. Those are some long long nights I hope you are getting some sleep even if you and DH do take turn sleeping. DH was doing that for me before.

Smithy great work on little bubs weight gain. Prem babes seam to grow quick my two nephews 6 and 7 weeks early and from 4 weeks over the 70% mark and still are.

Well it's week 6 for me and with all we've gone through I'm not sure I'll notice any change :lol:

ATM I love my mum. She let me sleep for 3 hours today. Linc was good for one sleep last night but was a horror for the other one. I know it's because he's so blocked up but geeze. i pulled him into bed with me and he was so so so fussy I ended up getting up. I don't think I can do the co sleep thing. I freak out and don't sleep I may as well sit up and watch TV. :lol:

Today he's been chucky. He loves lying on his back but only on the change table so I left him there a little long and up came brecky. I get so distressed when he chucks but he's happy. I guess I think "oh my you needed that food" but he went to sleep and woke 4 hours from when he woke last time. he is like a military alarm 4 hours from wake to next wake to the minute usually.

So as mentioned I've upped the incline in his cot again, not only did I take the front wheels off I now have a pillow under the top end of the matress and :pray: so far so good. He is easy to settle though and for that I'm so greatful, the sling or the fit ball and he's right to sleep. But when he sleeps flat even with the wheels of the cot he gets wind which wakes him up.

It's my 6 week check Wednesday and my stiches are still pretty sore, I've had AB cos two weeks ago they were VERY sore. Poor DH will have to wait a bit longer I think.

:grouphug: thanks for all your advice re poos, I'm trying a bit of breast milk atm. I tried something from the chemist and it did nothing. If no motion by lunch I'll try the prune juice but I do feel like he's so small for that.

and as for the prune juice in every bottle NO im only useing it every 2nd day actually hun and only useing 1-2mls only a very small amount as i too am not fussed on useing anything to be honest lol.but hows this ....:doh: i havent given it to miss c for 2 days now and BINGO this afternoon OMG it was hell she could not poo she was sooo unsettled all day farting all day so had a big pain in the belly grunting her little head off tried to poo only to do a nugget as big as my pinky finger nail :redface: so i could tell there was a big build up then later on this arvo holey dooley did we cop it she screamed from pain grunted till she was red faced and did the biggest hardest poo ive eva seen,so for me she WILL be having the prune juice at least every second day from now on as the brown sugar-water doesnt seem to cut it for her,my poor little girl ..
i hope things start to look up soon darlin girl thinking of you heaps.

Hi girls

Well just heard back from the Child Modelling Agency this morning and they want to put Tara onto the books. They said she is very photogenic with her big eyes and pouty lips, it is nice to think that they find my baby cute enough to do catalogue modelling and possibly commercials.

So off to have her photo shoot done next Thursday and then it will take a few weeks to get her all up and running so we'll see how she goes. Thought I may as well give it a go while I'm at home and if she can earn a few $$ in the process that's a bonus.

Smithy: forgot to add Charlie is so cute and getting a real little chubby.. Gosh she so looks like Coop, no mistaking who's the daddy :D.

oh that's great kellyd! what a good idea :) the modelling thing i mean, not bludgeoning the Dh lol. But my dh's solution to ash's crying is "i think he's hungry" lol. Such a male, all problems solved with food or boobs... so what more could a baby boy want but the combo deal! So hugs to you love and do try to remember not to be too cross at DH, he doesn't get as much time with her as you and needs to learn.. he won't do the timed feeding again i bet :) Ash was screaming the other day and i actually jsut walked away and said to dh as he was trying to settle bub "trust your instincts, you are doing great''. that was very hard to just let DH deal with it but otherwise we're making a rod for our backs if i'm the only one who can settle him.

ash is hhhmmm he is, ummm, having troulbe nodding off through too much oohhing, aaaahhhiing,gooooing and garring at himself. followed by a small chuckle at how smart he is lol. as a result after 20 mins of that he's soooo tired he starts to cry lol. probably shouldn't laugh but OMG they take themselves so seriously that someone HAS to laugh.

but BW my first thought re your neighbour dilema is 3am, work night, back fence, screaming child. ooh no better, 6am saturday when they are trying to sleep off friday night.

Have you thought about contacting their real estate agent to complain or getting all the other nieghbours to gang up?

Well I guess Linc is definatly sensitive to cows milk protien too. Last night was back to how he was prior to the soy formula and would only settle on me. I'm so tired. So back onto the soy formula even if the GP suggested lactose free, "not working"

Sugar water seams to be working thank goodness. Bit vague today but really wanted to share my little pic of Linc. So proud of myself for figuring it out.

:rolleyes: afm.. we took bubba c too have her needles this morning and omg how terrible is that ,she screamed down the drs surgey and i felt so sad for her ,but would rather her have them than getting whopping cough or something else .so now dh is cuddling her on the loung as shes a bit restless and id say needs heaps od cuddles today poor poppet.BUT OMG GIRLS guess what ..my girl went to bed at 10pm last night and i didnt see her again till 5am then she had a big feed a pooy and went back to be till 9am only to have to wake her for the dr :dance: im so proud of her today what a good baby aawww i luv my girl lol..i put her in her basinett in her own room last night so she couldnt hear us and its worked a treat, gave her a bathe and baby massage round 9pm so must have worked woohoo.

Green, just quickly... sounds like it's a cows milk protein intolerance rather than a lactose issue.

Friend's bub had the same issue - for one child goats milk formula was ok, but the next was intolerant to the proteins in that one as well and he had to go onto neocate - an elemental formula only available on prescription. If you're worried about soy (and I would be, but that's me!) then neocate could be the best option.

we had the same thing,, ever since Ash went into his own room everyone sleeps much happier :) Someone else mentioned it.. but i also can't cosleep. it just doesn't work for us... well me. but i have a bad back and find it incredibly uncomfy plus i only ever doze not sleep.

:leap: my girls has slept again
from 8pm till 2am then had a feed went back to sleep till 6am had a feed and still in bed :dance: even after her needles yesterday im so proud of her maybe shes finally finding some routine,i gave her a bath late again and another beautiful baby massage .
so im off to do the food shopping and to buy a new baby monitor there one on sale at toyworl for $40 bucks down from $100:clap:
