Parenting after LT TTC #5

hi girls,
been mia while my mum was visiting. it was lovely to see her and ash got spoilt.
saph - i got AF at 3 months and she's come every month since then! brh. i feel ripped off (ash is breastfed). I do find that bub feeds very poorly the week before my AF arrives, happened 3 times now but not sure if its the hormonal changes or just coincidence.

smithy - that is being ridiculously organised! lol. good on you!

kelly d- tell me about the teething!!! We have two teeth. One is all the way through - arrived fully last week and the other one popped out on Friday... he's not even 6 months yet! brh.

He's also sitting up - a bit unsteady but he's there and sort saying 'bubba' :) although it's mostly a whinging "bub-bub-bub-bubba'' and comes with a quivering bottom lip (naughty mummy and daddy laugh at him at that stage as its too cute).

still in the 25ht percentile for weight and 90ths for height and loves loves loves his solids. i think he would just keep eating if i kept offering, it's astonishing! mum reckons he's the neatest baby eater she's ever seen lol - why put food on your bib when it can be in your gob!

Woweeee! So much to catch up on. I won't say I'm back, because I'm more just a visitor at the moment but aren't we all with these busy little babes.

Firstly, oh Janie, my heart is in my mouth every time you write about your Jazzy. We all know this could so easily happen to any of our babies and it really brings it home. You are being so brave and I know exactly what you mean about being "that" parent that doctors see coming. I think my name is known in medical circles all over Australia at the moment. I'm knocking on more doors than the Salvos:redface: You know you are right though and you are your child's best and only voice and advocate so don't give up (and I will take my own advice too!). I really hope your paed and new gp give you answers and solutions.

I can't manage much more than match stats on my little bundle of happiness so here I go. Well my jazzy is 7 and a bit months now and well she doesn't much care for rolling. She's been there, done it and really didn't think it was worth doing at this stage so moved on. She has two huge bottom teeth which make her smile just the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen (of course) and she is cutting her 3rd tooth, another bottom one and this time it's hell so I'm hearing what all the teething fuss is about this time round. The first came with barely much fanfare, although now in hindsight, I'm sure that's what made our car-trip down to K.I so difficult at the time, cos those teeth arrived as soon as we got here. She is sitting up totally unassisted and it's funny to think that I look back on photos as "the lying down era". 7 months is absolutley awesome!!!! Andy and I are just loving life with her so much.

I'm doing all the wrong things and I really don't care. Do you get the feeling that I'm a bit worn down and over it. well I honestly just want to be a MUM. I just spent last week in burnout mode, which I have to do every few years and pull the shutters on the world and lock myself up in the house (yep slightly agrophobic, but only slightly). I just returned from melbourne after taking jazz for her MRI and CTs which were under anaesthetic, so slightly emotional time with flying alone and the procedure etc. Now I'm waiting for results and still no word. Jazz had her first cold, plus a sore throat from the tube down it and she cut a new tooth while in Melbourne. At least I was staying with my mum so we weren't alone deal;ing with it and apart from the obvious yucky bits, we had a great time.

Some of you know when you feed and have all your routines, that's what i mean by I'm doing it all wrong. jazz sets her own routines and it's not worth trying to break her out of them. If she wants to open her eyes as big as saucers and laugh at me when I put her down, there is nothing i can do to get her there, so I have to just laugh with her and try again another time. I can't be bothered getting hung up on things too much. I loooooove a bit of structure and when she does have any routine, it's all about her body clock, not because of what I do. I rock, I feed, i co-sleep and if she's not ready for bed, so be it, we play or wind down quietly. Whatever it takes and whatever works. Haha, I'm a rebel. I'm with you Poppyfairy, I've gone form Jazz sleeping 12 hours straight through, to now being lucky if she sleeps for 2 hours at night without a feed, so without co-sleeping, I couldn't function. It breaks my back as she follows the milktruck round and if it moves, so does she. Daddy is quite safe with 2/3 of the bed to himself but we both love it and laugh about it and he just loves that jazz is sooooo bonded to me. He had no bond with his mum, she is just one of those strange mums by name only.

Anyway, of course there's so much to say, but that'll do for now.

Thanks Marcellus. I'm lucky because my DH and I are totally in sync and I feel for the girls whose hubbies act like babies. A quote from my DH the other day: "there hasn't been a single day that having Jazzy hasn't been more amazing than I could have ever possibly imagined". We have literally been baby gazing for 7 months and I can't see it stopping any time soon.

I forgot what I wanted to tellyou all about Jazzy. Well, I have just learnt a new lesson for the day...Jazzy can remove lids off highlighter textas. You know how you sometimes just give them the things that seem safe just while they are right beside you, and they grab at everything. Well I set her up with a bunch of safe office "toys" and she was sitting at my feet and then I looked down and her face is covered withflouro green high lighter, as are her jarmies, her hands and the carpet. Oh dear...the first of many accidents, but a very cute one.

hi murph! i don't think there is 'right' or 'wrong' when it comes to bubs - just what works for you! i've recently decided to ditch the guilt trips i've been giving myself about various things in particular listening to my doc and starting ash on solids early (major guilt trip there). but cutting yourself some slack is so liberating and also looking at the bigger picture!

These babies are growing up too quick!

Murph as long as she is happy and you are happy you are doing everything right. I have always said as a mum you should listen to advise and then do what fits you. Xavier has no daytime routine and is a really crappy daytime sleeper and always has been. So I gave up trying to force him into a three sleep a day routine and he sleeps when he wants to sleep. In saying this we do have a fairly strict night bedtime routine but this stems from Campbell. Bed is at 7pm when nieghbours finishes, teeth story and bed. Campbell has been in a bed since he was fifteen months old and he has never gotten out of his bed. Even if he is not tired at 7 he goes to bed and just chats to his friends (teddies). Xavier has fallen into this routine as well and he sleeps from 7 til 9.30 when I dream feed him and then he sleeps til about 6.30-7.

It is hard to have to watch you little ones go through these procedures, we have been there with Campbell, you just have to soldier on and not let it get on top of you they are more relisient then we think. Campbell has had 2 barrium swollows, try getting a brest feed baby to drink chalk through a bottle. The only good thing was he had to fast so he was extremely hungrey and took it.

being a mum is so dam hard sometimes,but omg the joys they bring to us,theres not a day goes by were im not laughing at charlie atm,and shes just the same ,we were in such a wonderful routine and thats just gone out the window now lol ,she was sleeping till 8am every day NOW 6.50am :o and im not happy jan lol..
was eating (well trying solids ) now couldnt give a bugger about them ,its amazing how they can change from one day to the next.so im the same now i just let her do what she wants really :p shes the boss and i think she knows that lol..
so you hang in there girl friend ,keep up your wonderful work and enjoy every second with that beautiful girl of yours and pls give your self a break hun ,we do the best job we can on the day ;)

so anyways girls i hope you all have a great day,its a lovely warm day here today so im washing all bed sheets (i hate remaking the beds lol) and im going to clean the chooks pen out yipee gee im exciting lol BUT guess what did i tell you all the chooks are laying eggs now ...well they are and we now had 3 eggs :clap:

Hey Murph! Yep I am with you! I am doing everything wrong too!! LOL! But I sat and thought about it and I thought that half of the things we sometimes feel pressured to do are not 'lifetime' skills. Daytime napping in a cot for example, by two they are out of a cot and by five they are at preschool or like here in the UK at school all day with no naps. So why the big fight to get them to settle in a cot? DS naps on me, in the sling, in the carseat and sometimes on our bed (most times with me napping beside him!!) He may sleep for 15 minutes or an hour...if he wakes up happy then it must have been enough for him. Night time sleeps are different. He will need to be able to go to sleep at night as he has to do that for the rest of his life. So we do have a routine for that. But it does involve me feeding him to sleep. But I figure that other mums are using dummies or rocking or some other tool to get them to sleep so what is so bad about him getting his favourite thing as his sleep association? Going to sleep is meant to feel good isn't it? We cosleep with a cot sidecarred to our bed. He starts off in that for about two hours before we go to bed. Then at his first feed he comes in with us. I think he feeds about twice in the night....I have no idea...I am asleep for a lot of it!!! I LOVE cosleeping. Love waking up and snuggling in the morning. Love when you stir slightly and see their little golden head sleeping soundly and contentedly beside you!!! LOVE breastfeeding lying down and we both drop off to sleep and stay in a cuddle for alot of the night. Although my SPD is coming back so I sometimes wake in a bit of pain from sleeping on my side too much but I take a few paracetamol and it helps and I am going to see a physio so hopefully that will help. Anyway the crux of it is I have no idea when DS naps, I have no idea when he feeds. Even his nighttime routine depends on what we are doing.....there have been a few nights lately where because of our committments with our new vegetable allotments we have been to evening meetings and get togethers and he has slept in the sling in the pub or wherever till midnight!! LOL While we can do that with only one child we will!!
Anyway everytime I feel a pang when I read something about what a 'normal' 4 month old does or hear people talkiing about putting their LOs down for a two hour nap in their cot, I just think 'there are millions of babies around the world now who have never seen a cot, live in a one room house which probably doesn't have a clock in it to record their naps, but they still manage to function as children and adults eventually!!!' And even in 'first world' countries the attitude is different. In fact an Italian lady who we met in the pub the other night responded beautifully to someone's protest to us that 'isn't it past his bedtime' when they saw DS asleep in his sling. She said 'bedtimes are for adults, babies sleep whenever and wherever!!' Love it!!!!!

Just wanted to share a minor miricle Linc slept 5.15pm to wait for it da da dum 3.45am! :leap: although DH and I both got up to check him :lol: He didn't sleep much yesterday at Aunty's 2x20mins and 1 45! got home guzzeled a bottle shower with DH and SLEEP! Week two of work is blah but I'm getting a plan in order. I wonder if I could get a nanny for the mornings! LOL nice thought anyways. It seams just 8-10am is my issue, and Linc's most unsettled time.


Cold here today but pretty sun is making all the grass glissen and sparkle I do love winter. (for a while)

Poppy I am with you, we have a nighttime routine which really is a cuddle and bed a 7pm. But during the day he is all over the place and I have given up trying to do a routine. He sleeps when he wants to or not as he is today. I have a friend who is trying to force her newborn into a very structured routine of you will feed now because it is time and you will sleep now because the routine says you will, I have had to back away because it doesnt work for me. I hear you about the back pain. I slept with X this morning and I feel like a cripple today. But then my pelvis is so bad again that I an back in the brace that I used whilst I was preg.

Just need to have a little brag. Xavier sept from 8pm til 6.10 this morning. Yay

oh saph that's wonderful although i'm hugely jealous!
just discovered a 3rd tooth coming through... one of the top fangs!!! his 2nd one isn't even all the way through yet, and i thought the front 2 came next! should i be worried? see someone? He's only 6 months next friday, at this rate he'll have a head full of teeth by 8 months!

I wouldn't worry about teeth grub. Some children get them all really early and some take forever. I heard that your children's teeth (and when they come through etc) is roughly the same as your own. Do you know if yours came early?

i WISH miss E teethed like me! i had no issues - mum never knew i was teething! E is pretty good, but she loses it completely when it gets bad - and is then inconsolable!
and bah - she is over 12 months, and cos of teething, we're still getting at least two wake ups during the night

am reading but not posting much - i tend to read while feeding, and it's hard to reply while holding E (she wiggles too much now) - esp at the moment - dislocated my wrist five times in three days. it's something that has been happening over half my life, but this is the worst it's happened in the last several years and is being made worse cos i can't just put it in a sling and retire it like i need to - i have to look after E!

We spent our first night away from litle A teh other night - he slept 11.5 hours straight. lucky granma! He sill wakes up most nights. 2-3 times a night is good at 5 months Lenny! Or it was for A anyway :rolleyes:

Do'nt worry grub, they get their teeth when adn in whichever order they come. Would be good to get then over with quickly, though.

Oh, have to tell you, A is a man now. He keeps telling us 'me a man'. :o Not sure where this came from.

ETA - me too BG. I slept through from 4 weeks and mum never knew I was teething till they apperaed. NOT like A at all.

Big hello to all my girls. I'm still here and still sane but geez this teething is going from bad to worse.

Marcellus: I've got a teething necklace for Tara, but find it hard to us as she has such many folds around her neck the necklace keeps getting stuck and cuts into her skin. I think I'll have to hold off using until maybe the big back teeth start to come through (ie: when she has lost soem of the chubby folds around her neck).

Grub: Yay for Ash, I hope he is coping better than we are....

I so want these top teeth to come through..... we are now getting the horrid nappies as well as the grumpiness... yesterday we had 4 dirty nappies and I've already had 2 this morning as well. She must have the clearest system around now.......

Anyway better get moving, little miss cranly is sleeping at the moment so that's mummy's que to get some housework done.

Kelly I say stuff the house work. Put your feet up and have a rest.

just back from another overnighter with Jazz in Adelaide. Thanks for sharing your own experiences about routines (or whatever way you're surviving). Of course all that goes out the window with the teeth hey. It's comforting knowing that we are going through it together. jasmine just lunges forward and attacks anything she wants to sink her teeth into. It was funny when we were in Melbourne cos it was usually her Nana's face. Lucky Mum saw her lining her up and throwing the head back like a little animal and got out of her way.

My tip for breast feeding and teething is to have lots of lie down feeds, as it takes the pressure off their gums and they can control everything in comfort. On the really bad days an nights (like the shockers I had before going away on Monday), if you can do it, just resign yourself to staying in bed and giving them around the clock access. With a cold that was making her spewy and teething driving her nuts, she just wanted access to my body to cling, comfort, feed and hydrate and we rode the fevers through with a full day and night in bed. We were so lucky, she was a brand new happy girl for our travels and therapy.

Still no results on the mri and ct. Why am i not surprised? I was told 5 working days from may 25th and still nothing. We are only talking about whether my child will ever be able to hear anything for the rest of her life, why would my pulse be racing and anxiety peaking. Arrrggghh, I hate these flippant throw away things people say and then others tell you that was never going to happen. vent, vent, vent! So someone will ring me next tuesday (maybe) and i hope they sleep well on the weekend because i feel sick. ho hum....

i have been seriously missing in action because of university hell, anyway a big nasty statistics exam yesterday and I am FREE for 4 weeks. Yippee! holidays rock!

Adam is nearly 8 months old, nearly crawling, well launching off his knees and face planting anyway, teething madly (2 bottom teeth, very very sharp) and busy keeping mummy up half the night. All to be expected, but despite the sleep deprivation, I am enjoying my little boy.

so long no read or chat, work/life is so busy but good.
DH has decided to call it quits at the end of July so Linc will have his daddy home with him all the dime :D childcare didn't work out at all.
Linc has still got a cold 4th week and had gastro (and shared with mummy) :(
Went to the natrapath and got a few sprays etc and fingers crossed it works well.
Oh Little man had his first orange mash today and ate 3 table spoons full :) been trying to eat my food for a week now so I guess it's time.

We are all great miss c is owning the house starting to yell at everyone shes so funny and god help the house if theres no one talking to her lol.she is so dam spoilt im finding it hard sometimes and she cant sit by herseLf any more pmsl.but apart from this she sleep all night has 2 very good sleeps of a day and is eating solids now like theres no tomorrow.we got a new ride on mower on the weekend and shes been rideing the mower with daddy omg she loves it pmsl.

Hi girls went to sleep clinic today and as hard as it is I hate to say it but the nurse was right :) I was picking Linc up way to early from his nap. Has anyone else gone to one of those? I hope it works for night too. But Linc was still having 3-4 naps a day nothing substantial and today with a bit of restraint from mum he's still in bed 1.5hours later (he did wake up but I didn't pick him up) Now I just need to share the "plan" with DH and Nanna.

Smithy so glad Charlie is being a good girl. It is great when they are loud, has she found out her voice carries in the supermarket yet? Linc has :rolleyes: but it is cute.

Green glad you got some answers from the clinic. Xavier still doesnt sleep well during the day, but up until he got sick slept fine at night. I have been just leaving him to cry oit out a bit lately, but Campbell will go into him if i dont. He climbs in the cot to cuddle him and give him his dummy. Sweet really but oh so frustrating. It is really hard when you have 2 because He will go down and then I will have to get him up to go pick Campbell up from kindy or something.

As for the colds, Xavier had croup which is a new one for us. Campbell has never had it. they seem to just keep reinfecting each other. It's nice that they love each other so much but sharing the snot and bugs is a bit much.

We have been really busy, but then who hasnt. Hope everyone is doing well.

well thankfully it's been a quiet time on here so not too much to catch up on for a change. drum roll please...results in on thursday....all Jasmine's MRI and CT scans came back normal so looks like a green light for the cochlears. I still haven't had the answer to my appeal against medibank's decision not to fund us early but apparently the decision is in and if I didn't hear on Friday (nope), then on Monday I will know one way or the other. It's been a tense time.

In other news, Jazzy and I travelled to Townsvillle on our own and her dad caught up with us on the weekend and flew home with us. Oh dear what a lot to arrange the morning of the flight there. Took Andy to the airport for his flight to Canberra for a conference, came home and got ourselves ready, then drive to catch ferry, caught ferry, drove to Adelaide, then for the most important bit, I forgot to go to the loo before arriving in the long term car parking and nearly wet myself trying to work out how to get from the car, struggle with lugggage and a baby in a sling, find out if and when the bus takes us to the terminal ...pheww. made it. Deep breath. My sister was texting stuff to me and all I could manage, was "I'm having a crisis, need to pee". Oh I honestly bow down to single mothers who have no choice other than to do everything on their own.

Townsville was great. We went for a wedding, the wedding was cancelled (no sadness there), the groom went ahead with the reception (albeit a watered down version because most of the guests are his long time friends and we were all there for him). How awkward, the raving bride showed up so you can imagine the lead balloon effect that hung over the funeral, err, I mean...err.

Meanwhile my sister arranged an impromptu Welcoming party so that the kids could all wear their wedding gear. They were meant to be in the wedding party so were a bit bummed that all their dum dum de dum practice was for naught. Anyway, we had a lovely little photo sesh with the kids and ate party pies so it was just perfect. We are not religious but my auntie made a christening gown when my sister's oldest was born 10 years ago and both of my sister's daughters have worn it at about 4 months old. it was such an honour and it fitted Jazz at 71/2 months.

Lots to say but I'll tell you the milestone of the day. Jazzy ate a pancake. Firsts real solid, other than fingers of food and mash. She bit everything off and chewed it up and finally the dogs discovered what babies are good for as she dutifully broke bits off and fed them. Life is a dream at nearly 8 months, it just gets better every day.

I've attached a huge heap of photos cos I just got FB working for me again. Scroll through very quickly if at all cos there are 71! they are for my family but for any of my BB family too.

Yay on the green light for the implants Murph - fantastic news!

i haven't been posting much - lots going on here and yet nothing really! am now working three looooong days a week - if DH is working, i have to be otu of the house at 6.30 (so up at 5.30), drop DD at mum's, and get to work by 7.40. thankfully mum has a cuppa waiting for me when i arrive so i at least get another drink before work. am now working til 5 - home at 5.30ish if DH at home, 6 or after if i have to get DD from mums. depends on whether the poppet demands a feed straight away or not! it's very tiring. next week i have to work four days so it's going to be a long week!

DD had her 12 month needles yesterday (only a few weeks late - she had snuffles when she was first due to have them) - she was a trooper. screamed for a minute but got over it quick enough. she was getting lots of compliments for her attitude and being such a gorgeous little girl. she really IS gorgeous - such a lovely personality (albeit a bit strong willed) and she is just so friendly and beautiful. ahhhh gushy mummy moment! she is walking properly (little miss independent), talking soooooooooo much (short sentences like "who is it" "where's daddy" "what you doing" "i don't want to" lol) - the GP said she was significantly advanced for her age - which is fantastic for us to hear, and confirms for me that we'll have to keep extending her development. i don't want her to be like me and get bored and rebellious. need to work on ways to develop her social smarts as well as any academic smarts. she is young for me to be thinking about it, but mum has been talkign to me about how alike E and I are, and "OMG, you needed constant stimulation" (and social skills therapy cos i was so damn shy - still am!) - so i guess that's what i'm facing lol. my brother's two DD's are very much the same - needing art/craft/reading/writing entertainment all the time. so i guess it's somewhat to be expected. E's favourite toy at the moment is a noises book - she will find the pictures that go with the noises! ahhh extended gushy mummy moment! lol. guess i'm just proud that the GP noticed that she was doing really well for her age...

gloat away bg. that's what we are hear for and that's your job! you must feel soo proud of E :) oh my goodness I felt tired just reading about your day! how do you not just fall in a heap at 7pm?
I reckon in 6 mths i'd feel ready to go back to work but only part time. HOwever we are getting posted from here a month after i'm supposed to go back from mat leave so I won't be going back. Fortunately we don't have a home loan or such and can afford for me not to work.

murph - hope the answer comes tomorrow for you and glad the tests have been done and it's looking like things are getting sorted... finally! i hope. lol Had to laugh about the dogs discovering the advantages of a baby. My community health nurse helpfully suggessted that some people put down old shower curtains for solids... i was like "oh, we just let the dog in''. Cookie Monster now knows its dinner/lunch time and waits patientlly for the mess to ensue :)

oh saph that just sounds so adorable - campbell comforting X. you must get a pic of that one :)

green - yeah i was alwasy johnny on the spot with Ash whenever he cried but now I have learnt to leave him a little while... especially at night as often he'll call out a couple of times and just decide it's all too much effort and he'll go back to sleep.

we'll it's generally agreed, the thread has slowed.BUT we are not slack, we're busy!!!

all is well here. Ash is continuing to love his solids and has cut back his breastfeeds. Having trouble getting any fluid into him after his early morn feed til his afternoon tea. We've tried every sippy cup ever made, dreamfeeding during the day, cutting back his solids (pft he just got hungrier and didn't sleep at night) and have dabbled with forumla over the weekend all to no avail.

He has a reasonable bedtime feed, a good dreamfeed and a fairly good early morning feed with small snack feeds until after his 2nd nap. Been stressing out that he's not getting enough fluid but am trying to relax as he's very certain he doesn't want anything! SO MY question is how many breastfeeds were you 7/8mth olds having.
Ash is only 6 and a bit months but we started solids early for various reasons and on the advice of our doctor.

anyhoo have done a backflip on using our frozen embies. have now decided we weill use them before we leave here so that's by december and i have to go on metformin so will have to wean Ash in a couple of months. it's been a big decision and given our foray into formula and bottle was an absolute disaster this weekend i'm feeling very nervous about it.

going away to visit my family this week... Ash's first trip to my hometown. super excited. Will probably think about weaning bub after that. but talk about feeling guilty!!! i feel like an awful mum but i can't bf him on the drugs so have no choice really.

anyhoo sorry for the rant. am feeling pretty low about bf atm and terrible about deciding to wean him. all the reassuring arguements go through my head (i gave him 6+mnths of breast; lots of babies are on forumla with no ill effects; he's basically weaning himself etc etc) but my heart doesn't hear what my logic is saying!

at 8 months e would snack all day - but as to REAL feeds, she was only feeding maybe half a dozen times a day. she is down to about four decent feeds now (and whatever snacks she can sneak - but it's three sucks, "thanks mum, i'm gong now!". it was around then that we could go out and she would go for several hours without feeds BUT, she has always been a fantastic water drinker. she has cups stashed everywhere and tells us when they need filling up

Grub, i live in an exhausted haze atm! thankfully when i'm home DH is here too so i can at least relax a little - provided we have nothing on (which is very rare for us at the moment!). am struggling with it all, but given DH isn't really able to work much (no spud farming work in the wet, and not much else happening locally that he can do due to his visual problems) it's a case of either me working or we have no income at all. it's hard but it is what it is. going longer hours and more days (for us to have the income) has made me seriously consider weaning DD onto cows milk (so i get your thoughts there grub!) so that DH can do the overnight stuff - but it just seems too hard! i'm struggling with the insulin resistance on the long days too so may have to speak to a dietician to help me work out a better eating plan that is sustainable both at home and at work. not sure there is one really. a choccy bar on the way home from work is my cure for the flat evenings at the moment. it's not working some days, but it's all i've got! this week i'll probably have fresh vegie soup waiting for me when i get home - oh, and a baby hanging for boobie milk!

Grub X has five to seven feeds a day and we havent started solids yet. Have been thinking I will have to start in the next few weeks but trying to hold off a bit longer.

saph, definitely wait as long as you can. I really regret listening tothe doc and starting ash so early but it's done so i have to drop the guilt and move forward.
but cos we started so young (4mnths) we went very very slow. Farex with lots of EBM and just some basic veg.
Now he loves loves loves his food and eats so well.

thanks bg. Ash just doesn't want anything! not boobie, bottle, sippy cup. so i'm going to try not to stress so much and just go with the flow as I can't force him to drink (learnt that one the hard way).

omg he is just waking now! was put to bed at 6.45pm yesterday! woke at 8.30pm for a feed and 3am for more booby! better run ox

Hi Grub. I'm not one to ask about number of feeds - DS would have still been having 10 or so at 8 months, but he wasn't eating much till 12+ months. You're right you can't force things - always makes things worse :doh: So back for more in December? Exciting! Is metrformin no good when breastfeeding? Good luck with it all :hug:

Yeah, I'd delay solids as long as possible for 2 reasons - mess and nasty poos :rofl: (it's part of my lazy parenting philosophy)

It's tough working two jobs BG - hope you get a little time for yourself and recharging.

We're good. DS tells me he has a baby in his tummy too. and sometime he takes it out to give it milk.

just a quick one and it might help Grub. Have you tried spoon feeding Ash water? You know that Jazzy never took to anything other than boob for drink feeds so that applies to water too, so I have been spoon feeding her all along, especially with meals between mouthfuls and she loves water so much. Even when not drinking to swallow, she loves the feel of water in her mouth as she is not a dribbler, even with teething so it must just be novel and gets her blowing raspberries and vocalising. bathtime is just a giant water drinking frenzy, so i don't know why I bother boiling what I feed her. A bloke on the plane saw me spooning water to her and said I'd given him the idea to try on his son.

thanks murph. we have done it a couple of times. sometimes it works other times it's all down his front. but might try it again tonight :) he actaully seemed a little intereseted in the sippy cup today while visitning friends and has taken a coupel of feeds during the day today. so who knows! but he hasn't slept well! so he'll either eat well or sleep well lol. not both at once. pft

Wow it seems everyone has found some spare time recently to get back on line. This is my first chance as Tara is already in bed and DH is working until 7pm tonight so a little window of free time.

It wonderful to hear how everyone has grown so much and all the new adventures everyone is embarking on. Murph I have my FX for you that Medibank can get their act together and Jazzy can get her implants ASAP.

Sorry for no extra persies but things have been hectic recently and I seem to loose track of what is happening with everyone but trust me I think of you all.

Well I was supposed to be mid cycle for an FET but as my FS decided to change things up a little this time around (as he has been getting better results) of course my body has decided to not respond at all and after running around like crazy having scans every couple of days, which is a logistical nightmare with a baby in tow, my cycle has now been cancelled and I'm back on provera from tomorrow to hopefully get AF in the next couple of weeks so we can go back to the previous protocol which we know works as Tara is the proof. Ah, such a headache as we are planning on going away for a week and a half in August so now we have to juggle a transfer hopefully end of July with planning when I need to be back home for BT's etc.

Apart from this issue everything is going well with Tara. She is an absolute joy and is so funny now with her little personality starting to show itself. She is such an attention seeker and is happy for anybody - even strangers - to pay her heaps of attention and if people ignore her she screams at them and bangs on anything to make a noise to get the attention to her. But the thing I love hearing best is when people are always telling me how gorgeous she is especially when she gives you a big toothy grin. Oh, and we have also started to wave, today at Mothers Group she was waving at all the other mum's (mainly because when she did they paid her attention) and then smiling and laughing as she is so clever. As you can tell I'm such a proud mummy of a very cheeky little girl, fingers crossed we have one more just like her waiting for us on ice.

Anyway, better be off as DH will be home soon. Take care everyone.

i'm TIRED. E isn't sleeping - she is sick and it's not good here - so tired!

i think E has had a reaction to the needles she had on friday - either that, or the toys she was playing with at the doctors - she is so quick i just couldn't stop her. she has the snots big time. pretty sure, from her cries, she has a sore throat too. i feel awful for her. she is just so unwell. i want her to be ok - i HATE seeing my baby so unwell. i was in tears with her last night - there is only so much i can do and she is waking EVERY sleep cycle. tonight i'm going to experiment with her using me as a matress and see how we go - she might actually sleep (one can hope).

Damn, too bad about the setback with your cycle Kelly. Hope the next one works like a charm!

oh bg just wanted to send you lots of hugs and the sleep fairy! your plan sounds very good. i'd be pulling her in bed with me so she feels close to you. I know when i'm sick i loved being cuddled and stroked and loved so i reckon E will just love that. good luck i hope you both get some rest.
But do try to remember - this too will pass, it won't go on forever.

no cluckiness here - i think life has just shown me that we don't need another to be content - i love my girl, and would welcome another, but am content with just one

co sleeping worked last night - it didn't the night before. after a marathon screaming session where the only thing to comfort her was to sit in he middle of my bed, snuggled onto my shoulder/chest, rocking. we ended up snuggled off and on most of the night and got FIVE HOURS unbroken sleep! OMG - i feel like a new person! i NEVER EVER EVER want to hear that cry again. i was in tears.

ash has beena little champion night sleeper the last 2 nights... 7pm, dreamfeed 10pm and then nothing til 7.30am! i am pinching myself. and he even had a reasonable, but not great, BF before his breaky.

Yesterday showed me i really need to only offer boob every 4 hrs as before i was so worried he wasn't getting enough i was offering it all the time.. maybe why he wasn't taking much. He also took water from a sippy cup this morning!! yippee... alot dribbled out but i could see he was swallowing and came looking for more.. probably helps that i'm better rested and more relaxed about it.

oh and i think someone asked about the metformin, doc looked it up and nope can't bf. i don't think it said you can't but it certainly didn't say you could iykwim. but i think i'll just try to wean in a month or so time when i've had time to accept it, process it and put in a plan of action. I think we'll just go cold turkey as my attempt to comp feed him really was not successful.

for now i know i have limmited bf time left so am enjoying it much more and spend the night feeds baby gazing.

bg i can just imagine how unsetting it is to watch your bub cry in misery. how could you not cry. big hugs and hopefully she's over the worse of it all. ox
