Oh Murph, I am with you with the churning stomach. We went and saw a finacial advisor this week and they have recomended we buy an investment property. we are going to see them again today and they will be recomending some places to buy. Will let you know if any are in orange. lol
Why is money the route of all evil. The thought of getting into more debt scares the hell out of me but they assure me we can afford it. Would love to know how. And they assure me it will make us rich in the long run, yeah right that or bankrupt.
Yes Murph it was Campbells teeth. He is so proud of his robot tooth and was such a brave boy. Xavier is next we are seeing the surgeon again next friday about his hernia and I think we have decided to get it fixed now whilst he is still very little.
Hope everyone is going well.

Just wanted to share Tara's new statement that she says... When we say to her "Love you" she now replies with "Wuff U" and then gives us a big kiss. I don't think she knows what it means at all but I know she loves the reaction that she gets from DH & I when she says it.
I also hear all day long, when she is looking for me..."mummy, mummy, mummy" over and over again...

Hi girls we are back! Had a great time in London and will catch you all up on it in the coming days. As you can see by the time I am still a little jet lagged! Jazzy was awesome on the flight, slept most of the way and when awake was quiet and easy to entertain. We had heaps of people coming up to us after the flights commenting on how good she was. My advise to anyone traveling with a toddler, invest in an IPad. Best thing we ever did. You can purchase movies and tv shows so she sat watching the Wiggles most of the time she was awake. We also invested in a good pair of child specific earphones so they would stay on her head and they are also noise restricted so they can't turn up the sound too loud. Jazzy knows how to operate the IPad on her own which is very cute and rather scary to watch!
Glad to be home in Melbourne. I am originally from christchurch and still have a lot of family and friends there including my mum, sister and nephews, dad, step mum and half brother and sister. I am happy to report that they are all well. Although my sister did give us a fright as she was working in the city and the building she was in had all the stair wells collapse in. So she was stuck on the 15th floor with no way out. Luckily she was rescued with no injuries, but we were unable to contact her for 4 hours so didn't know how she was during that time, it was just horrible. And I felt so useless being on the other side of the world. But we are some of the lucky ones. There are so many people who has suffered so much in this tragedy. Buildings can be replaced, but people can't.
Hope you are all well, I will try and get up to speed in the next few days.

no way janie! are you sure you came back on the right date??? not too early??/ I can't believe how quick that time went!!! that's so good that she travelled well for you! OMG pretty scary about your sister, but i'm glad she's well. I hope she's not too traumatised by it all.
My aunt's MIL lives over there, in her 80s and apparently wasn't doing well after the last quake in sept. the poor old thing was so frightened she'd sleep in an arm chair. So i can't imagine the physiological trauma that so many people now have because of the quakes.
I saw your sig Janie and Jazzy is like an old woman! she's nearly 2 FFS! when did that happen!! lol.
kelly - i WUFF that lol we say it to ash but nuddin yet! he's stuck on saying "mon-ner" as in monster the dog (cookie monster) for everything. birds, planes, cars are all "mon-ner". OMG JUST TAKE THAT BACK HE JUST, like right now said car to a red car I was talking to him about.
saph- that's exciting about an investment place. i'm not sure orange is the best investment centre tho lol.
murph - find anything? is it cos of the cost/condition etc that there isn't anything for you or is it a tight market?? good luck love.
afu - not much to report. I think, *think*, we've successfully weaned ash of his night time feeds including his dreamfeed! We just dropped them all cold turkey and if he woke, gave him water. Last night we went down about 7pm and didn't hear him til 7.30am! But you know what they are like, it was probably a one off!! but i really hope he does this from now on, with the new baby due soon it would be great to only have to get up to one child iykwim!
Funny little thing, DH and I were in bed and bub was just wandering around being generally cheeky .. we heard a bit of a noise, he wheeled his toy box into our room and pulled it up next to DH's side of the bed so he could play lol. very cute, he was giggling as he was wheeling it!

Hi ladies,
As per usual I've been reading but not able to post - our laptop still isn't fixed so relying on my phone.
We're gong well - Finn started swimming lessons a few weeks ago, he just loves the water! He's even okay with going under the water now :) He has been teething again, he seems to have skipped the top middle teeth and going straight to the eye teeth. He hasn't been too bad but still so incredibly snotty - he cries at the sight of a tissue now!
Sleeping is a bit all over the place and I'm not sure if it's related to teething or not. He's only been having one sleep lately which means he's awake from about 2ish to bed time, which is about 7:30. I cannot get him to have another nap nor can I get him to sleep before 7:30. And even then he wakes about 4-6 times in two hours before he's ready to settle properly. Is it a phase???
Anyway, better go settle him again. Sorry for the lack of persies, will try again later! Hope everyone is well xx
-
lise, Ash did the same thing with the teeth. no middle ones but a couple of fangs... looked so cute! And he went feral every couple of weeks and would do what you are mentioning and not settle at night for ages.
He's 14 months and only just gone to one sleep a day. He does 2pm to 7pm but is really ready for bed then. Mind you his one sleep has been pretty decent 2 to 3 hours. I think every baby is different and maybe finn is just ready but by the sounds of what he's doing at night, it does seem like he's getting a bit overtired re not being able to settle into a good kip. But i'm not sure i can offer any advice for you if he refuses to go down.
Are you giving him anything for his teeth? maybe they are what are keeping waking him iykwim. We used pandaol, sedegel and brauer's teething relief all together at bedtime and found that was the only ****tail that seemed to help DS. But we would give in reluctantly as i don't like dosing him up on drugs iykwim. But on bad nights, he's sleep much better if we did this... Oh and remember you can't use the teething gels (bonjela/sedegel etc) with nurofen - apparently same active ingredient or something.
sorry not sure if that helps or not. I just think they can be just little toads at that age and not much you do can change it. BUT like you said, everything at that age is a phase, so he will outgrow it... just feels like it takes forever!
-
Lise - probably is a phase. I am learning that nothing is permanent in this parenting lark. Even the good stuff! Just when you get used to a certain behaviour they go and change it on you! Sleep often changes aRound teething or a developmental leap as well. DS slept very little when he was learning to sit up, roll over, brawl and then walk! Which with teething periods in between added up to very weird sleep patterns for months on end. Some days we get big naps and on others nowt at all. Good luck!
-
Hi ladies. I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. Grub suggested I stop by, but i have to admit I've been lurking here for a week or so now... Our beautiful daughter was born 5 weeks ago and she's keeping us on our toes. We're having some problems with slow weight gain (not yet back to birth weight :(), but other than that she's doing great. I look forward to getting to know those of you I haven't met before.
-
Welcome Juniper and congratulations on the safe arrival of your little princess. Oh they know how to keep us on our toes right from the beginning don't they!
Looking forward to getting to hear more about you and your family.
Janie xxx
P.s. I don't know what has happened everyone, but I seem to have blinked and my baby is somehow about to turn 2! How on earth did that happen?
-
juniper- glad you came in! but warning KellyD and MadB are here too... lol couldn't keep them out! hahahaha. And if you come across a character called Murph run a mile ;) okay, only joking, these ladies rock.
Red Riding hood! wow i saw your ticker... now that went fast... DS must be hanging out with Janie's Jazzy and eating spinach! lol.
well just a quick one, DS is handing me shoes which means "let's go mum". we have a tour of the birth centre].
oxoxo
-
:welcome: Juniper! I think I remember you from some previous threads. :congratulations: on your precious little poppet!
Lise, sounds like teeth for sure and is he in a Wonder Week too? Don't worry too much, it will pass. If you get really desperate, I find a car trip does the trick. My DS is a bit the same, it's lucky dip as to whether he has a nap at all let alone two, but he refuses to go down til about 9:30-10 at night (or almost midnight in last night's case) but I guess that's what happens when you're created by two insomniacs! Every time I even think about complaining my mother quickly reminds me that I never slept a full night until I started school, and only ever slept an hour and a half at a time until then
:goodluck: with the tour Grub! Are you thinking of a water birth?
OMG Janie :o, how fast has that gone??? I think I joined the preggy thread just as you had her! Seems like yesterday!
Oh RRH... a woman after my own :heartbeat:! I love the term "nowt"! My dad is from Sheffield & both he & his sister have been in Oz since the early 60s but I love how their thick Yorkshire accents come back whenever they get together.
:hello: to Murph, Saph, KellyD, Lenny & anyone else I've missed.
And Barney? You've been pretty quiet of late! We miss you in here!
AFU, not much going on. Woken up to a very snotty, miserable boy who also has a nasty tooth (#7) coming through. Last couple of days he's been off his food and it's been a battle to get him to drink anything (which was really tough in the 38 degree heat yesterday) and not sleeping much at all. As I said it was almost midnight last night after resorting to driving laps around town for an hour (normally when we get in the car he's out before we've left the driveway) and he woke grizzling about every 15mins. Normally I would tuck him in with me but I have a bit of an asthma cough that I feared would constantly wake him up (fat difference it made ) Anyway poor DH, between fido & snot monster his eyeballs were pretty much hanging out of his head this morning!
Anyway enough of the "woe is me" talk... hope everyone has a great rest of the week!
-
Hi ladies. Sorry, no time for posting
Welcome Juniper! My goodness I remember when you got your BFP. How is your little one going? It must be stressful with the slow weight gain - hope things are getting easier for you.
-
Hey all!
I was in here this morning typing away my novel while Jazzy slept and then lost the whole lot...grrrrrrrrr. Dont you hate that!! Turns out DH has packed the keyboard from the laptop and I was merrily typing away on the laptop keypad without remembering all the whizz bang buttons that do who knows what at the most inconvenient moment. It's enough to drive me back to pen and paper.
Arrgghhh, gotta run, forgot to put the dog water up!
-
OMG it is 8.40am and both the boys are still asleep. What do I do with myself.
-
put your feet up! have a cuppa :)
hi murph!
madb- i reckon it must be Mad House with a newborn and another little one!! hope you are well tho.
yeah were is our Barney?
-
Barney has left the building I'm afraid.
Did it last long Saph?
I'm trying to make some nappies but I think a certain someone has run off with the soft side of the hook and loop stuff....
-
oh that's sad.
YOu just know the moment she posted, both boys woke up in a feral mood! always the way! lol. but hopfeully not!
geez, you are good making your own nappies! i do cloth but i'm a buyer lol. ox
-
Nope Campbell slept to 9.40 and I got Xavier up at 10am. We had to go out.
That is sad news about Barney. Sending her all our love still anyway.
-
oh that's so great saph! bet you were wondering if they were okay tho! what did you do?? don't say housework! ;)
-
Argh, my iPad ate my lovely long post, now I'm cross!!!
Just a quick one now to say hi. You'll notice in the next two weeks I'll probably be in here all the time cos DH is off to Washington for work so I'll be a tad lonely :p I really wanted to go too but we couldn't get Finn and I on the same flights and I wasn't keen on flying with Finn by myself so we're staying put. I have asked him to look at the new Bugaboo Donkey!! Not that we need one yet but still!
-
Grub so did not do housework that does not even enter my thought patterns. Nope I made phone calls in peace, played on the computer and just did nothing. Was lovely.
We have some sad news, Campbell did not get into the private school we had hope he would get into even though he was only 3 weeks old when we put his name down. But we have decided that it is not such a bad thing because the fees are over 5k so that would be more then 10k when Xavier gets there. He is just going to continue coming to school with me. We will prob move him to the local primary school when Xavier is at Kindy. On the up side it does mean that there will be no more daycare fees for him after this year. Yay
-
Hey Saph bummer about the school for Campbell, but my sister who lives in WA (not too far from you I think) put my niece into the local primary school while my older nephew was going to high school at the local private school, she then transferred her across when my nephew got older and was a couple of years from leaving school to make sure that she got a place due to having a sibling already at the school.
I know she thought the cost was a waste of money when my niece was little but it is all about having that placement instead of going on a waiting list. Are you still able to place Campbell on a waiting list for future years to see if anything becomes available or are you just going to now look at seeing if the boys can go there for high school instead (scary thinking of high school when they are still babies).
-
Kelly, We are looking into other private schools for high school, we will leave him on the list for High school but it is about $3000 more then the other private schools iin the area. It just happens to be aqccross the road. We are not looking for primary school, he is just going to keep coming to school with me for the next few years. gotta go need to take 'Campbell to kiondy lol
-
Sheesh, must be hard to get into that school Saph if you've had his name down for years already and still couldn't get in!!
Hope everyone is well xx
-
Okay have a teething question, anyone ever had bruised gums. Xaviers gum has been black for just over a week. It has gone today but I think that is because it has broken through.
Next question anyone used the teething beads and where do I get them from.
Hope everyone is doing well. We have a long weekend here but DH is working so reallt it is just me being stuck at home with the kids. lol Campbell promises that he is going to help me tidy the house. Yeah right. We have a valuation on the house on thursday for the new investment property. Sorry Murph not in orange.
And to continue the all about me post, I started on my treadmill tonight. 10 mins at a time slowly but I can still walk now so we will see how we go in the morning. Yay for me, I have missed it.
-
Yeah we've used the teething necklaces. Check out Mumma Rocks, they have a FB page I found them really good for when the teething is REALLY bad. Sorry, can't help with the bruising though.
-
-
Grub! That pic is AMAZING!!! Mine only ever looked like E.T or an even uglier alien, hehe
-
Oops, just thought, maybe it's not your baby, but a generic ticker pic.
-
  murph, you crack me up! that just made my day. Yes it's generic but how good would it be if we could see them like that!!!
How is the move going??? have you found a place???
Saph - how you feeling this morn after the treadmill???
lise - how you going with DH away? it's hard isn't it?
Madb- hows the mad house?
boc - hey lovey! what's happening in the Valley lol
just got back from playgroup. the ambos were there for show'n'tell, so Ash was so excited.
he woke up every hour last night between 11.30pm and 4.30am! i couldn't get back to sleep after 2.30am until 5.45am!!! so feel very very tired. Not sure what was wrong with him either, just seemed to want cuddles.
:) ox
-
Hello out here, hope everyone is doing well.
Grub, treadmill set me off again, so back to the drawing board. Discussed with physio, we are going to try for one min intervals to see if this helps rather than 10 mins. No more walking to the park.
I am so over screaming kids. Campbell loves Xavier to bits but at the moment everytime he goes anywhere near him Xavier screams and then campebll gets louder because he is louder. I am going insane I have them screaming at each other from the minute they wake up until they go to bed. AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH Gotta go Xavier is screaming because Campbell walked past him.
-
oh saph! that scares me!!! two screaming!!! I have one child who has mastered the art of a high-pitched squealing - i think my ear drums imploded yesterday it was that ear-shattering lol.
hpe you get it sort saph, but does sound like you've got a long road ahead of you tho. big hugs :)
omg i've got only 15 weeks til this bub arrives!!! how fast did that go?????
-
Take 20...
Okay, this is about the fourth time I've tried to reply and my post has been eaten so let's hope this works...
I haven't had as much time to post with DH being away as I thought as Finn has turned back into a rotten sleeper. I thi k it's a combination of teeth and missing DH (at least I hope it is, I hope this is not the new routine!) but he's back to screaming when I put him in his cot, I have to feed him to sleep again most of the time, which I don't mind but then he wakes up in his cot and can't/won't resettle...
Grub, I can't believe you're that close already. Has this pregnancy flown by compared to last time?
Kelly, how are you going? Hope you're not too uncomfortable xx
Saph, sorry the walking isn't working cor you yet. Here's hoping the shorter intervals do the trick. And two screMing boys, sounds like you need some noise cancelling earphones ;)
Murph, hope the house hunting is going well, it's hard trying to find a house from afar isn't it. Is there someone in Orange who can go inspect properties for you?
BOC, DS is soooo big in your FB photos, such a little man!
Hope everyone else is well, sorry, can't scroll back anymore to see where people are up to(can't wait till DH comes home with my laptop!). well one week down, one to go. As much as Finn and I are missing DH I think it's been good for us. I think our relationship has taken a turn for the worse since we had Finn, we haven't had any time together really and we're lacking the intimacy that helps keep you together. So I think when he's back we shall have to call upon family to do some babysitting for us so we can have some together time. Trouble is, Finn is still such a bad sleeper, I went out for a couple of hours at night a few weeks ago with some fellow mummies and had a text saying DH was out of ideas. Went home and apparently Finn had cried the whole time - DH had even given him a bottle of COW'S MILK!! So I felt incredibly guilty, but wondering how we're ever going to leave him without stressing the whole time...
AnywY, enough blabbing, must go do some tidying up. Hope everyone has a good weekend xx
-
lise, that babyhood stage is so hard cos they are always teething, growing, learning etc and you just never know sometimes why the smeg they are crying all the time! but it does get heaps better.
DS is now obsessed with DH and loves his daddy so much that he is happy to spend entire days without me ... and i went out for dinner for the first time since Ash was born - a girls thing as well... Ash didn't even bat an eyelid! went to bed very happy. Mind you if daddy isn't there for bedtime... end. of. the. world.
but i know what you mean about the relationship. i think the blokes have a hard time no longer being number 1 in your mind and we have a hard time sharing the love cos caring for a LO is just so exhausting. it doesn't help if you aare both tired either and neither of your needs are being met!
what if you just started with a coffee out or morning or arvo tea with you and DH til Finn is better without you? that was he get used to you going away.. and coming back and you get some time but don't have to stress that he's not sleeping/crying.
Yep, this pregnancy has flown by! I know poor kelly isn't feeling that ATM. are you there kel?
hope your house hunting is going well murph
Hi boc, madb, lenny, saph, janie,
Juniper - how is it all going??? love to hear from you.
oxox
-
lise: So sorry to hear Finn isn't the best at the moment, as grub said they go through so many changes that you just don't know what it is going to be next. Even with a good baby when they have those out of the ordinary moments we are scratching our heads trying to figure out what the problem is...
Thanks for asking how I'm going....as grub has also said I'm very much over this pregnancy.... 9 1/2 weeks until my c/s date and I really don't know if I will make it that far. I measured my fundal height yesterday and it is something ridiculous like 45cm and I'm only 29 weeks today. We had a scan last week and both boys are measuring about 2 weeks bigger than our dates and both weigh just over 3lb each, so I'm basically carrying the weight of a full term baby around. I'm now struggling with sleep and trying to toddler wrangle but luckily it is a long weekend here this weekend which means a few daddy days so mummy can put her feet up. Although not today as DH is doing the garden but that's o.k as Tara has just woken from a very sound 2 hour sleep and is happily watching ABC kids at the moment. It gave me a chance to do some washing for the boys as hopefully we will be putting up one cot tonight in our room so I can get everything organised.
Anyway enough whinging from me, I hope everyone else is doing well... Oh and I know that Barney has left us but there was a BA that her daughter had her baby this week, a little boy called Cruz.
-
Lise, we have no family support and getting a babysitter is very rare. So we have dates at home. We put the boys to bed and then eat together and watch a movie. we just make time for us at home. It is also much cheaper then going out. But then sorry to brag we have never had a problem with our boys sleeping. From birth they both went to bed awake no later the 7pm. Campbell went into a bed at 15months and til this day he is 4y3m he has never gotten out of his bed. Even in the mornings he will wait until we get up.
But then at the moment Xavier spends his days screaming, especially when Campbell looks at him, walks past him and god forbid touch him. lol But I feel for all those who have to get up during the night. I am constantly waking becuase I am in pain so I know how you feel.
Hope everyone is having lovely weekend.
-
Yes, think we'll have to start small and work our way up. But we definitely need to start doing something together.
Hope everyone is enjoying a long weekend :) I don't even know why anyone else has it, and with not working and DH away I'd completely forgotten about it until today! Finn surpassed himself today, less than 30 mins sleep and not surprisingly, IMPOSSIBLE to get to sleep tonight. Oh well, it can only get better...
-
oh lise, he'll pass out eventually! hope he went down okay after your post. oxoxo
-
OMG, scared myself silly this morning!
The other day Finn got his leg stuck in his cot and let out this almighty yell! Well early this morning I was fast asleep and heard another yell. I didnt think it sounded like Finn but then I heard it again so thought it must be. I jumped out of bed, ran into his room only to find his cot empty!!!! I started freaking out straight away, trying to work out how someone could take him without me hearing ( I'm a VERY light sleeper!) when I suddenly remembered I'd taken him in bed with me at the 4am feed! I ran back into my room and of course there he was fast asleep. I couldn't sleep at all, my heart was pounding a million miles an hour, so very silly of me
Hope everyone is well. Nick is home tomorrow, woo hoo!!!!!!!!!
-
i was going to offer you a "oh poor lise' sympathy post but I'm laughing my bottom off at that one lise!!! sounds like you need more sleep lovely. Just glad he didn't wake when you bolted from the bed.
but i can imagine your heart must have been in your throat for a few seconds til the ole brain started to, you know... work! lol.
ooh... alright then, i'll send you a virtual hug for being tired and stressed and giving yourself a mild heart attack.
:)
