lol lise - likeing newcastle not the company there! if you are up in darwin (or anyone of you lovely ladies) I'll meet you for coffee... i may even agree to lunch if you are really nice to me lol.
Lise, that is exactly what ash is doing atm. wakes between 7 and 8am (although yesterday it was 8.30am!!!!) then we go out and have a busy morning at swimming or playgroup or whatever and he's in bed between midday and 1pm and usually sleeps til about 2.30/3pm (so do i lol). But he's well and truly ready to go back to bed by 7pm.
it's funny how you worry so much about stuff isn't it! 10kg is doing great guns! I have found that Ash's weight gain has really plateaued now he's past 1. He was eating more at 8 months than he is now! He's 10.8kg but has always been a long, thin boy.
omg BOC what are you going to do about this "i don't like my room" thing? i hope it's just a short phase! hope he went back to sleep for you.
I just had a 90 min preg massage - aaahhhh devine :)

Hi Ladies, I popped in once or twice after having Rossi and then just seemed to get too busy to regularly pop back in. I've got Rossi on a schedule now (Contented Little Baby, Gina Ford), and at least now I know when I'll be feeding, sleeping, wiping my bum ;)
Juniper, good to see that you popped your head in, I hope you're doing well.
Sorry ladies, but can you explain the earlier post about Barney? Left us?
My little bundle is just over 3mths and 7kg so I think he's getting enough milk but I'd like your opinions...... Rossi tends to feed only for a maximum of 10minutes on each side so I worry he's not getting the hind milk. In the last fortnight he's also decided that he doesn't like the right side maybe 75% of the time and cries and back arches the whole time. I end up expressing from that side so I'm not walking around lopsided! He's a cloth bummed baby so I'm constantly folding more nappies so I KNOW he's peeing up a storm every day. The other new thing is that he's only doing #2's every maybe 4 days, when he used to dirty 2-3 nappies a day. Each night when I massage him I make sure to concentrate on his belly and I'm cycling his legs. He last went on about Thurs or Fri last week, and prior to then he went on the Monday.
The other thing is that he's forgotten how to use a bottle :( I went a month without giving him one and now I can't get him to take one.
Everything all at once!! Why?! Any ideas ladies? Do u think I should try some diluted juice? I can get him to have only a couple Mls using a medicine spoon, wonder if that would be enough to get his bowels moving? That's if he even is constipated, as I've read that some babies can go a week at a time....(seems odd to me!)
Okay, I promise to spend more time in here and try to sort out who's who in the zoo!
Lise, can't believe Finn is 8mths already?!!!! It seems like just yesterday you were in the preg thread and we were all waiting with baited breath for your BA! good luck with your frostie!!
Chrissy.
The good news is that with this new routine he's pretty much sleeping from the dream feed thru to about 5am so we're a bit closer to sleeping through.
-
ck glad you came back :) I can't say anything about barney cos I don't know anything. I'm not sure why she left or whatever. it was all pretty sudden to me too so sorry i can't help more.
as for feeds - he sounds pretty right to me. Ash would only feed for about 5 mins each side from when he was born and like you, i spent a lot of time worrying he wasn't getting enough etc. in the end i figured my let down must be fast enough and him efficient enough at feeding that he gets what he needs. Remember he's had a lot of practice now he's 3 months old so probably is just good at getting what he needs.
So long as he's doing plenty of wet nappies and his poos aren't little rocks, he's fine and pretty normal to my ears lol. I wouldn't be giving him juice unless you are sure he's constipated... serioulsy a week is normal and yay that's less pooey nappies you have to hose off lol.
oh and the fact he's sleeping so well for you atm is a really good indicator that he's getting plenty of milk (and that weight is fantastic!). I know it's really hard, but do try not to worry. He'll certainly let you know when/if he's hungry. As for bottle refusal, cna't help you there... i think that's just a sign of what a great job you are doing. Why not freeze that milk? in a few months he'll be starting solids and you'll want to put breast milk into his first foods etc so doesn't hurt to have a stash :)
i can't help you with the refusing one side, maybe it doesn't come out as quick or soemthing and he would rather the other??? someone else will probably know more.
oh and make sure you rub his belly in clockwise movements and bicycle legs are great :)
hope that helps you a bit. I'm by no means no expert but you sound like me this time last year! I was paranoid that 5 mins every 3 or 4 hrs wasn't enough! but go by weight gain and wet nappies and don't stress about hte poo :) oxoxo
-
Thanks Grub :) His weight gain has slowed off a bit in the last 3 weeks and he's currently only averaging 159gm gain each week, when I average out the last month (yet he was supposed to have a growth spurt in there too?!) Gees, next I'll be worrying about teething, then solids...fantastic!
Good to know that his feeding is nothing to fret about, and that the lack of pooey nappies can be quite normal!
Well it looks like the rain has decided to set in today so it's as good a day as any I guess to do some housework, :-(
-
Hey Chrissy, sounds like you're doing a GREAT job with Rossi!! Finn was a pretty quick feeder also, like Grub said, once they're a bit bigger and have the hang of it a bit more it doesn't always take so long. And Finn also favoured one side (still does really) so that's normal too. As is pooing once a week, something else Finn did for a while. So basically everything Grub said!!! As long as he's happy and putting on weight and has plenty of wet nappies then all is good :) To start with Finn put on about 300 grams per week so when he started putting on less than 200 I was concerned, but the mach nurses said about 150 is good so you're doing fine!
Grub, glad you enjoyed your massage - was it a proper preggie table with a hole for your belly?!
-
Hi all still around. been reading but have been sick and now have 2 sick boys. Just took them both to the doc and they are both on antibiotics. Hopefully that will make them all better and I can get some much needed sleep.
Well I am very excited and a little scared. Our finacne was all approve for the investment prop and the extension to our house. So we are now the proud owners of an absolutely huge debt. lol It is all good really, at worst case it will only cost us about $150 per week and that is without taking into consideration the massive tax reduction that it gives us. We never would have realised we could afford an investment prop if we hadnt gone to a finacial service company. They were expensive but really great.
CK dont worry about the 150g weight gain that is fine. When DS1 was a baby he would only put on 20 - 50g a week and they werent overly concerned about that because he was putting on weight. Both my boys feed in under 10 mins they just get good at it. My advice is get them weighed at the check ups and dont stress about it. Your baby will let you know when they are hungry and just enjoy your time with them as they grow up to fast. We are past the baby stage and will never get that back now so enjoy every minute of it because it will be over soon.
Hope everyone is doing great.
-
yeah chrissy i spent the first ten months in guilt trip hell. worry about feeding, about weight, about solids, about about about about everything! I think it just comes with the territory and you will learn to relax (a bit lol).
lise -re the massage, i just laid on my side, but it was by a qualified lady. OMG last night i got the WORST leg cramp ever. you remember those from when you were up the duff! it still hurts!! i woke DH screaming out in pain and he had to rub it for me... then i had to wait about 5 mins before i could walk to the loo! So all those girls 'thinking' of tyring again.... remember the glory of pregnancy! ugh.
saph - i hope you all get better soon! one sick kid is bad enough, i can't imagine two of 'em. at least the ABs tned to work pretty fast.
it's gorgeous and rainy and cool here today. am loving it! just spend $200 on groceries but seem to have no food int he fridge... every happen to you?? oven cleaner, glad bake, cleaning cloths, meat, veg for dinner... geez it adds up.
yawn. might see if bub would like a sleep... i know i would lol. He's busy taking the shoes out of their home and 'ta-ing' them to me on the lounge. surrounded by shoes! at least he's not trying to put them on my feet today lol.

Hi all,
Just back from a lovely holiday. There are WAAY too many pages for me to go back and read...so I won't even try. I read this page though ;)
Grub - wow, June is approaching fast, how exciting.
BOC - glad you like the cloth, it can be addictive. I waited til DS1 was 11 months, but in the long run it was still well worth it. Even though sometimes winter in Vic can make my study resemble a chinese laundry.
lise - i weaned DS1 in order to go back for another try. That was what my FS wanted. I do know that some women have not weaned and still conceived, but i felt that it was something that might just make the difference for us, so i took that decision.
CK77 - just when you think you know what they are up to - those little darlings change their minds. Keep offering both sides when you bf, one day he'll be hungry enough and latch on and you'll be complaining that he doesn't like the other side! And same goes with the poos. Some babies poos every feed, some poo once a week. I don't know what sounds worse...I'd hate to see the size of a once a week poo :). There is very little waste in breastmilk, so don't worry too much if they don't poo all the time. My Ds2 is 14 months and he has weighed the same (under 10kgs) for months now. You'll know when there is something wrong with his intake, you'll just sense if things aren't quite right. Keep asking for advice though - but remember to filter some of it too!!!
Poor Aidan caught chicken pox while we were on holiday:( and then when we got back Liam got gastro...and then gave it to me and DH too!! Yuck, there was a lot of sick people in our house. We 'postponed' Liam's 3rd birthday until we could all face looking at food again. He's only 3 so he didn't know the difference!
-
Oh, jealous of your lovely holiday Lenny! Hope it was not too hard returning to real life ;) I've also heard that some women continue to bf and are able to conceive but this is our only frozen embie so I'd rather not take any chances. We're not in any immediate rush so my plan is still to feed DS until he's one. I just haven't done a FET before so don't know what to do, hence our early appointment.
Saph, hope the scary feelings have been taken over by the excited feelings! What extensions are you having done? I'd love to extend too but with not working and a big mortgage it's not going to happen for many years!
Grub, ahhh, leg cramps. You can keep those! Hope you haven't had any more! I was REALLY lucky when pregnant with Finn, didn't have any ms, leg cramps, indigestion etc at all! I'm sure if I get pregnant again I'll get them all!!
Hello to everyone else, hope you're going well. I've got a bit of a sad boy at the moment, another two teeth through yesterday (one bottom, one top) so I'm assuming the others are close behind since they always are. I feel really bad, I could see the top one coming but had no idea about the bottom one u til it was through! Might help explain why sleep is still a bit all over the place...!
Anyway, hope everyone has a lovely weekend - we're off to get a treadmill so I can start running again and lose my butt. I did so well in losing all my baby weight and then I started on ad's and have put on 8kgs. Grrrrrrrrr.
-
Hi gals.
I never find enough time to actually post in here, sorry.
Just quickly - CK, your little one sounds absolutely perfect as is. :D Poos and weight gains both slow by now, though 150g is still a big gain for over 3 months.
saph I hope the kdis are doing better.
I am not looking forward to teething mark 2....
It's A's 3rd birthday party on Sunday.Yes, we're actually doing a party this year
poor little liam :(
not long grub! your avvy can gp back to being a svelt little grub
-
-
-
Gotta get me one of these sexy avvy's, feeling a bit like the odd one out :p
MadB, hope the party was good! Did you have it at your house or were you very sensible and had it elsewhere?! It was a gorgeous day for a party, well at least it was here so I'm sure you had beautiful sunshine too!
Well I've still got a sick little boy, he's had a temp the last few days, still incredibly snotty and having trouble feeding as a result as he can't breath and feed at the same time! Went to the gp today so we're in quarantine for the rest of the week, no play group or mummy coffees for me :( I did find some time to totally rearrange my house this afternoon while Finn was sleeping, it looks lovely and DH is happy that I have created the new spaces I thought we could only achieve with very expensive extensions
just by moving furniture!!
Hope everyone is having a good week xx
-
Hiya hunnies!!
Absolutely no time til Jazzy explodes at me for being on the computer and there is only so long I can stall her with really fun things that doesn't involve her not doing what I'm doing. she has become a total mimick and has to do everything the same. completely gorgeous but frustrating as hell.
CK, I think I remember jumping for joy one week when Jasmine had a weight gain of 70g, then I realised it had been two weeks between weighing. Saph thankyou for making me feel that it was normal, with your DS having the same 20-50g weight. I could only imagine what 300g must be like but I think as long as they keep putting on weight and stay on their own trajectory on the charts (Jazz was 3rd percentile for weight, then after surgery at 12 months went to 0 per cent and stayed there). She is and was a completely happy, healthy, bright as a button little bub, so they are all so different and NEVER stick to the rules!
Well I was gonna tell you Biarches Grub and (damn, can't remember that other slack Newcastle cow, BOC??:p) that you are Biarches for raining on my parade re the train trip but oh my godddddd, you are so right!!! I am all booked but it's just crazy, a 3 and a half hour car trip, or 45 minute flight becomes a 1 and half hour bus trip plus 3 and a half hours on the train, then we go to our appointment in Sydney, only to do it all again coming home!!! So yeah, not at all romantic, we have decided to just drive. If it was just train, then okay, but bus - you are kidding!
Okay glass french doors in rented houses and stroppy unsupervised toddlers is a recipe for well ...losing your bond! Love yas.
Oh, by the way, at 17 months....drumroll...jazzy is standing and walking (still only sometimes) but it's still amazing. I know it's late but did she ever do anything by the book?:clap:
-
Oi Grub... did she just call us what I think she called us??? :p
Watch out Murph! I know :ninja:...
-
yeah! boc she did!!! lol. Never liked that one anyway boc hahahaha!
oh murph! it's so silly ain't it. Driving in sydney is truly not as bad as you think, particularly if you let DH do it! lol. Serioulsy tho, we used to drive to hornsby station, park there for the day and then catch the train into the city or wherever. So that may be a better option for you if your appointment is right in the city area or a really busy area.
;)
yayay jazzy for getting mobile... now murph you know you are alive!
lise - a change is as good as a holiday! how is finn now?
madb - you recovered from that party lol.... a house full of 3 year olds just makes your blood run cold eh! lol. And yes, I can't wait!!!
well Ash has been so full on this week but such a lovely child, mostly. We even went out for lunch and he sat at the table and was happy and laughing and i got to eat my meal in peace!!!
Lenny, hope your household is gastro-free! have you partied yet??? My DS has been 10.8kg for months now (he's 15 months) but still seems to be getting bigger if that's possible lol.
hi saph!!! and boc!! :) Kelly D i know it's difficult for you to post but HI love. :)
hey CK - hope things are really getting iont a nice rythmn for you.
better go and sort dinner. i'm being assualted by a cheeky child
-
I reckon we smash her Grub
Hope you're doing ok Kel hun , you've been a little quiet lately, but of course it's all understandable!
A big :hello: hi-diddly-hi to the rest of you lovely ladies, hope you're enjoying your Fri night!
Don't know if any of you have felt like this since having your little cherubs but lately I have just been REALLY longing to be :bellygrowing: again, really aching for the kicks and bump and the excitement of knowing there's a little being on the way. Can't afford another cycle just yet, and the health insurance funding doesn't kick in for another 10mths so not much else I can do other than hope & for some freakish miracle. Doesn't help that I know about 15 people due in the next 6 months either! Don't get me wrong, I'm so happy for them, just wish I was joining them!
I'm just loving the age DS is at right now too. He's just so switched on at the moment. He picks up the brush & tries to brush his own hair, when I'm changing him he hands me wipes one by one and even occasionally tries to wipe himself, and the other day he was on the top lounge & his nappy accidentally came off so he brought it down to me on the bottom lounge, dropped it in my lap and then laid on the floor so I could put it back on him! He's also adding more words, "Pa", "Gran", "Ello" and "tsthis" (What's this?") and he LOOOVES dancing & singing, does it constantly, not many words but several clearly identifiable tunes (with actions), we get "gloomp gloomp gloomp" and "la de da de da" from the frog song, "wipers on the bus go swish swish swish", "if you're happy & you know it" and "twinkle twinkle" and it's rather cute when he entertains people in shop queues, complete with self-applause
Anyway enough of my rambling, DH & DS are snuggled together & crashed out in front of the footy on telly so I might ignore the 5 loads of washing sitting on the pool table waiting to be folded and sneak off for a few zzzz before they come & take over the bed :shhh:
Night all!
-
oh boc yes! i know i'm preg now. but basically since DS was born i was desperate for another one. Looking back now, I realise it must be hormones or instinct or something cos it was very powerful and I was in some sort of rush or panic to use those eggies. It just worked out that our timing suited my need ... but now i'm soo preg and Ashton is just sooo lovely (don't you love these little toddler years!) I do wish I had of waited a bit and just be able to enjoy him and the freedom that comes with having one cheeky one :)
that's not to say i'm not nearly peeing my pants with excitement at having another bub and I realise how absolutely fortunate and lucky we are! i must warn you all tho, even going back for 2nd babies all those fears and hurts from when you were trying for number 1 come back again.
I'm always worrying and having little panics that "somethign bad'' is going to happen... even now. Thankfully this bub is very active so that keeps me in check most of the time. But I'd say that fear is even worse this time round cos I really felt it all happened too easily so therefore my logic says something bad will happen. I know you all understand that ramble lol.
lol Murph You in trouble with the mammas now guuurrrlll-frrreeeennnn. haha!
