Pregnancy after Long Term TTC #1 - 2009

Hi Everyone

Just dropping in to wish Janie all the best and hope that your little one arrives all by itself in the next couple of days. Maybe it just wants to be an April baby.

AFM: My First Trimester test results are back in and unfortunately I currently have a UTI, which is such a pain in the butt..... So am now on a course of antibiotics to try and clear it up but as I'm suseptible to UTI's I think that I will suffer from lots of them over the next 6 or so months. First day back to work yesterday after my 2 weeks off, all m/s gone but I was so exhausted when I got home I was asleep before my head hit the pillow. Although I'm tired this morning as I had indigestion again at about 2am and then stretching pains from about 5am, my lower back is also killing me. I'm starting to see a little bump starting to grow so at least I know the pains are doing something for real.

Just back from midwife appt, have been referred to OB who I am seeing at 5 today to book in for my c/s which is likely to be next week. I can't believe this is all happening.
BP is up which is not surprising given the week I've had and DH has given me his germy cold. really really not happy!
Feel good knowing that I will know what's happening by the end of today and I can better prepare myself.

Good luck Megan. My DH has given me his germy cold too!!! Miserable sore throat and cough. Hope you feel better soon.

AFM, I go for my 6 week scan tomorrow. I am so looking forward to seeing the babies heartbeat. It will make it all the more real. I dont really "feel" pregnant as yet. Although my bb's have grown. Have to go get a new bra on the w/e! Ive also been experiencing constipation (sorry, TMI) the last few days, its not very pleasant. Any ideas as to how to combat that? Have felt a little queasy the past few mornings as well but nothing too bad.

what a thriving little room it is at the moment in here. No wonder we are kicking a few of you out this month. I'm so excited to hear the post from TL and good luck to you too Janie and Megan.

It's an anxious time for lots of you as you move towards the exciting end, but I hope you know that your stories and experiences are a huge help to us with a long way to go.

Briggsysgirl, I'm sorry to hear that you are sitting back in a bit of a sad way. I know that the time that we most need help is the time that we hide ourselves away. I hope that Nixon's advice was useful and you are back out of your shell just as soon as you are ready.

21&TCC, I can't believe you are still suffering, despite being much better. Hang in there, it sounds like you're almost through it.

MissMagpie, it's great that you are having your 1st scan. GL tomorrow.

AFM, ha, I survived the boat trip without incident would you believe? My sister did pack me a bag of all sorts of preggy treats, pills and even accupressure wristbands. I didnt even get seedy and it was a lovely full day on the water (despite the sad occasion). I didn't actually get sick til that night on dry land when the boat wouldnt stop rocking and I fell over on two guests at the wake...how embarrassment!

Unfortunately, wasn't able to relax while away, as i got more bleeding on the drive down and had three days of brown spotting (no red and no cramps so I wasn't too worried, just enough to have doubts). Anyway, I had my scan today with DH there and we have a very healthy heartbeat 144 bpm so we are pretty happy with that.

I got an official due date as 8th November. How does that fit with you MissMagpie, cos I think they dated me back a week so my scan read 7 weeks 3 days and not 8 weeks and 1 day.

Better let you go and search for the arrival notice of Miss Charlotte. Is she here yet?

just dropping in to say hi and thanks for the well wishes. spent some time the past couple of days working out how to "delegate" the work stuff for DH to someone else. unfortunately cos he works away, a lot of it, until now, has had to fall onto me (normally not a drama, but at the moment....)

Nic, i've been working with the calmbirth stuff and have done ok with it - have just had to take a lot more effort to shut out the external stuff kwim?

ummm, not a lot happening - we had to go to the hospital this morning as Gremlin hasn't been very active for past couple of days, and refused to move at all today. stressy phone call to hospital, got mum to take me over there (45 minute trip), doppler on - and BANG - she starts kicking up a storm - how rude! still not getting AS much movement as i was a few days ago, but have definitely been getting movement for most of the arvo.... am still somewhat stressy - but i'm dealing with it. GP appt at the end of the week, and Ob just after easter. will be 33 weeks then, and will probably talk about all the "important" stuff - like birth!

to everyone else a big hi! Megan - can't wait to hear the plan of attack for getting Buddy into this world hun! hope your appointment wasn't too stressful for you!

BG, it must be the week for quiet bubs. Buddy has been pretty quiet too the last few days. Thankfully I had two appts today so got to have a listen to him both times and know he's ok. Maybe he's just feeling a little under the weather like me with this damn cold DH passed on to me! I can completely understand how you feel when that happens though. Seems so out of character when you're normally putting up with rolls and summersaults and kicking in the cervix. I can usually get him to move if I really want to, or DH can and if that doesn't work then I get really worried.

As for his arrival....it will be the 14th April. So, only a few days early which I'm happy about. As uncomfortable as I am, and anxious to have him here for us to meet I think it's important to keep him in there as long as possible. I was almost booked in for this Friday, which I think the OB must have thought terrified me by the look on my face! lol He didn't have any more spots available, so the day after easter weekend it is. Feels strange to have a day.

Congrats TL and Clive...off to find your BA now. :D

BG, am in the same boat as you re movement this week.
June Bug is mainly doing large movements and only a couple of larger kicks this week.
Also more fluttering when I lay on my side.
I get weekly updates from baby centre.com.au which really have been spot on every week so I hope this helps you to.

Fetal development - 31 weeks pregnant

Megan very exciting that bubs will be here in less than a week :dance:

AFM, was made redundant on Monday from my job of 5 years (actually 50% of my team lost their job).
All is good got paid out but it means 9 weeks of nesting are ahead of me.
Bubs furniture arrived yesterday which was very exciting!!

Nicole, sorry to hear about your job. Seems to be happening a lot lately.
As long as you're not stressed about it, and you were paid out I guess that makes it easier for you. You get to enjoy the last couple of months of your pregnancy and get plenty of rest.
Nine weeks of nesting hey? I wish I could manage one!! lol I really had to force myself to do some stuff last night, and once I got going I was ok. It's just the getting started part I struggle with!

thanks for the link Nic - i have been keeping an eye on movement up until now - i don't think i'd have been so stressed had it been gradual to slow down - but it went from sunday morning full on "i'm gonna bruise you mummy" to nothing but flutters Sunday night, all day Monday, and then nothing, even using all the "tricks" Tuesday morning. after monitoring on Tuesday, the little brat is back to "i'm gonna make you suffer" status! love it though - it's awesome laying in bed watching my tummy "bubble" on the surface from all the kicks. and Gremlin STILL responds to daddy's voice over the phone - it's so cute! i think the fears with reduced movement have been made worse as someone on another forum i visit (IVF/AC only) had a very similar weekend to mine and actually lost her bub on Tuesday at 38 weeks - it's added to my fears a whole hell of a lot


so sorry to hear about your job hun. it sucks timing wise to be left in limbo about returning to work after bubs is here, but the redundancy payment should help out! i'm STILL waiting on court hearings to finalise over a redundancy i'm owed from Feb 2005 - it was granted late last year, then appealled by the company, so is apparently going before the courts again this month - i really NEED that money about now!


was supposed to go to work today but my boss and i have agreed it's not worth it. i am generally green with nausea by the time i get there, and am not my usual efficient self cos i have to run to the loo cos i feel so bad all the time. thankfully it dowesn't impact my mat leave entitlement if i finish out my time on LWOP which is awesome. i have an appointment tomorrow in that town so will call in there if i'm not feeling too bad...

the nesting urge has started to hit here but i'm struggling with the energy to get everything i want to do done! it's so not fun - i can see it all but i just know i'm not capable of doing it (and DH would be sooooo peeved if i did - i have a habit of blacking out if i overdo things!). so i have been hiding in my bedroom, watching DVD's and working on a quilt for the baby! i feel like i'm being productive without physical exertion. Easter weekend will be really full on as DH should be home for the long weekend - he'll be working his little butt off helping me get all this "stuff" done!

Nic- So sorry to hear you were made redundant. Take the positive out of a negative situation though....more $ and time to prepare for little ones arrival. Am thinking of you.

BG- I feel for you still being nauseous all the time. I think DVD's in bed and quilt making sounds fabulous. I understand the fear you feel about little Gremiln arriving while Daddy is away. You know from our previous chats that my DH is away for work all the time too. I have been really afraid here lying in my hospital bed that these 2 little ones will arrive when DH is literally a day away from being here. I just feel I need his support when the time comes and soooo want him to be at the birth of his children. I suppose I've come to a place of peace now and am leaving it in God's hands (and I'm sure the man above wants him here too!!) Glad little Gremlin is back to the "I'm gonna make you suffer" status!! Hoping you feel more cheerful soon..I understand your fears xxxx

AFM, 27 weeks today. 7 more sleeps til my big milestone where everyone will breathe a lot easier if our 2 arrive. Have been having a pretty hard time mentally so I haven't been posting. Just don't quite know how to express my emotions and my fear right now. Am so thrilled to have made it this far after going into labour at 21 weeks, 2 days. I know now really that it is a miracle that I got through that night and the days that followed. I feel so truly blessed that our 2 babies are still growing nicely and are nestled in my tummy. I am reading numerous times a day though and keeping track of where everyone is at. Hopefully I'll start to feel more positive soon and can join back in on the chatter!!

BTW...anyone heard from Janie???

I think the fear on any quite day won't go away until bubs is safe in your arms.

You are doing great and have come so far but it must be soo hard being in hospital for this length of time...and you are very brave with everything that has happened.

Nicole - sorry to hear about your job. At least you have lots of time to get things ready.

AFM - went for my scan on Wednesday and saw our bubs heartbeat, was AMAZING! She told me that I was 6 weeks 2 days which I had myself at 6 weeks 4 days so practically spot on :D She told me everything else was perfect which was such a relief. Ive been feeling a little nausea and my stomach is so bloated! It looks like Im showing already which is impossible. Im now counting down till I see my obstetrician on 27 April in which he'll do another scan and give me a more accurate due date.

Hope everyone is travelling well. Im still so new here so trying to get up with where everyone is at :D

BEL - i hope you are doing ok, your poor mind must be on overdrive! will u have to stay there till the delivery or will they send u home for the last 2 or so weeks? also are you 27 weeks from implantation or LMP i was just wondering coz if its from your implantation of the embies you would really be 29 weeks from LMP. i was just curious. also pics of the bubs are so cute!

I have been away for a little while, so haven't posted at all.

Congrats to the lovely births in the last couple of weeks!

Bel - hang in there sweetie, you are getting closer and safer.

AFM: Hit the 12 week mark this week and very excited about that. The nuchal scan went very well, and risk for chromosomal abnormalities very low, so we can officially tell everyone now. I was SOOOOO excited to see bubs moving around, touching his/her face. It was truly amazing, and DH is beside himself.

Miss M: So happy that your scan went well and you got to see the little H/B. Hope your m/s symptoms don't get too bad.

Neptune: Fantastic news on the 12 week scan. Mines the Tuesday after Easter and am busting for it too come around.

AFM: I had massive stretching and cramping pains last night. Enought to take my breath away. Got home from work and went straight to be to rest. No bleeding (which is good) and this morning the pain has subsided and am just feeling residual pain, like when you get a cramp in your leg and when it goes away your leg is still sore for a while. I keep telling DH it must be our bubble kicking up a storm in there and trying to make some more room for himself. I am calling the baby 'he', for some reason I always thought I would have a girl but this little bubble is making me feel it is a little boy. Anyway time will tell on that one. Has anyone else had a gut feeling on what they were having and it turned out right??

AFM I can't remember if I gave my last update, been a bit crook. I had a scan and have a healthy happy little heart beat of 144 bpm. DH was there for the scan and has really kicked into excitement mode, he told me to tell him to shutup on the drive home, but it was cute. It takes a bit of a reality hit like seeing it on the screen and realising this could be it, babyland, with no turning back.:pray:

AFM, well it's 4am and I have been awake since 3 :wall:
This happened a few days last week and I thought I was back to waking at a decent hour...maybe not!!
DH and I put the cot up on the weekend and I nested for the rest.
Other than that still lots of strong kicks and hiccups poor thing.

Firstly - Congrats to Janie and TL on the arrivals of their baby girls. I look forward to reading all about it and I'll update the list soon.

Nicole - My nightly routine is wake at midnight for a pee, back to sleep til 4am, lie awake til 5am, get up and move to couch, read til 6am, sleep til 7am, get up. The 4am only started recently and is a bit painful, but this is my last week at work so won't be too bad after that. Fun, isn't it?

AFM - I went to hospital last wednesday with strange period like cramping. It wasn't contractions, but I was sent home for the rest of the week anyway. I had a bad head cold and I think just run down over all. I'm glad they made me take some time off because I think I really needed it. Feeling better this week even though it feels like my hips are about to implode, hands feel like I have athritis, heels are about to split in two and I don't have cankles - I have thankles (ankles the same size as my thighs) BUT - my gorgous baby is still moving around and making enough of a ruckas to let me know everything is ok.

I had my 2nd baby shower this weekend just gone (over did it with the house work and food prep) it was a great laugh. 14 bottles of champange and 2 bottles of white later (none for me obviously) I finally decided to kick my girlfriends out with a thank you bag and a lift to the next house so the party could continue :-) No cups of tea served at my baby shower. hahahahahahaha. At last count our baby has 8 pairs of shoes and no pants - I guess that is what you get for not finding out the gender.

Anyway - that's enough for me - Good luck to Megan for Wednesday - we are still in breech too and will be booking c/s on Wednesday.

Megan my CS was the most amazing experience it happens all so quickly and there is a beatiful baby with you. You are back with bubs very soon and then you can enjoy things.

Take care of you and remember to get people to help with bubs for the first week or so. So that you can get the best recovery.
