Pregnancy after Long Term TTC #5 - 2009

Hey all...I have two words of advice first of all...slippery elm! Unbelievable for indigestion, started taking it after telling my accupuncturist about my routine sleep/reflux problem and hey what can I say. I have been sleeping...ahhh.

BDT - I secretly thought you would be pink all the way, so happy that your man has seen sense to feel doubly blessed to have two little girls. What a beautiful family.xox

KellyD, I mightn't be as far behind you as I have been all along. I have a big hospital appointment on Thursday to find out my birthing options now that it seems pretty clear Jazzy just won't turn. I have been having accupuncture and chinese moxa treatments since last week and the funniest thing happened yesterday, my very traditional doc asks in his subdued matter of fact tone "and how do you feel about caesarian?" It was like he was admitting he doesn't believe in any of this witchcraft mumbo jumbo he's doing to turn her and was just cutting the crap. I laughed at him and he laughed at my response and then telling DH it was like I was such a hopeless case for a hard core traditionalist to be so honest that we both just cracked up laughing. It's hard to explain my sense of humour...you had to be there:redface::doh:

I haven't got time for the full catch up because like normal people I'm going to try to sleep tonight and get up at a decent hour:dance:

O.K Girls I'm going insane now. The wait is killing me, and I thought our original TWW was bad.

Cleaned the bathroom today, have to go into town tomorrow for further bloods to check iron levels before c/s (which is a 40 min drive away) and then decided towels get washed on Friday, Sheets on Saturday and then general clothes on Sunday with some ironing. Sounds so exciting, but trying to space everything out so that all is done before Monday and I don't go into hossy thinking about what I forgot to do at home.

Apart from that I am really tired and trying to get as much rest as possible over the next few days as well as my life of having sleep in will soon be a thing of the past.

BDT: You must feel better now know for sure about your 2 pink bundles, you will love shopping for all the girls clothes and stuff. If I must say there is so much more options for girls than boys. Good to hear that your DH has now come round to the idea of them both being girls. Strange though that if you were having a singleton and then had another child of the same sex it doesn't seem that much of a problem but unless you are having identical twins everyone seems to think that you should then have one of each colour. Nature just does it's own thing...

Murph: I'm not stressed at all about the c/s as I think that being fully aware and prepared for what is going to happen has taken away any fear there might have been. So long as bubs comes out healthy I don't care how it happens. So my advise is research as much as possible on c/s deliveries and I have seen and heard stories that the recovery from a scheduled c/s is much better than an emergency c/s as you haven't had to put you body through labour for hours (and hours) and then had the shock of having major surgery. And if you factor in what we have already gone through to get here (Injections, EPU's, Transfers ect) what is one more procedure to get our babies here safe and sound.

BDT - go the girl power! Congratulations! My SIL gave birth to IVF twin girls, and they are such a delight. I'm glad your DH is feeling excited too.

Murph - thanks for the pointer re: slippery elm, I'm all for natural remedies! I'll make a note of it!

Greenslw - glad things have worked out with DH and you had a good weekend. It's amazing what a bit of nature will do for the mood!

Smithy - where are your 20-week photos? I'm hanging out to see that belly!

I know I've missed lots of you, but I am reading all your posts and trying to keep up! :bellyrubs: to all!

AFM - I've had on-and-off spotting, on-and-off back pain, on-and-off sore bbs, on-and-off twinges, on-and-off nausea, on-and-off tiredness. Part of me would prefer to just have constant symptoms, cause at least then I'd know something was really happening. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not even 6 weeks pregnant yet, so the symptoms will no doubt turn up soon, and when I don't want them anymore. My 6-week scan is next Monday, hopefully I can then just relax into the experience of being pregnant.

Meanwhile, my GP had some bloods done and the results came back today - my iron is low (as always) and so is my Vitamin D - I live in Melbourne, so duh. Means DH and I need to get outside in the sunshine more. My Mum is visiting this weekend, no doubt to impart her wisdom of what I should eat, what birth I should have, what parenting styles I should adopt. It'll be good to have her a bit closer though - she's been overseas for 6 months, and I've missed her.

Oh, and DH fell of his bike :wall: and broke his elbow, so I have to go and cook dinner and clean the house...

Seph - Sorry to hear about your on and off again symptoms, the uncertainty in that 1st tri is hard!!!!! Hang in there. Hope DH elbow gets better soon.

KellyD - how exciting for you! I will be thinking about you on the 12th, when you get to meet yopur little bundle. I hear you on the waiting...

BDT - get shopping love! I agree, the girls outfits are soooooo cute.

Murph - so happy that you have finally found a bit of relief for your up all night parties. Slipperyt elm is wonderful stuff, I used to use it for irritable bowel syndrome, but didn't even connect it with reflux!!!!

Greenslw - Glad to hear you sorted out some issues with DH. I think they need constant reminders to communicatre. My DH is a very poor talker, and needs lots of encouragement, but he has definitely improved in 12 years.

Bella55 - wooohoo on the twins sizes and the 30 week milestone!

AFM: Still having mild contractions off and on, sometimes with nausea. i saw the midwives yesterday who did an internal.....nothing to report there! This hospitals policy for a 40 year old woman is to induce after 40 weeks if bubs not showing....although they do not PUSH it it IYKWIM. I'm not sure how I feel. I really don't want this intervention, but can see how frustrated I am going to be in a week if nothing has happened. So I"m trying as many natural things as possible....curries, sex, nipple stimulation, acupressure and will phone today about acupuncture. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!!!

If I go ahead with induction, the date will be the 19th for the gel on the cervix, and then labour should happen in 12-24 hours.

hi girls haven't posted for awhile as lots happening here... but have been following you all...

murph- i'm so glad you are feeling okay if a c-sect is required. personally, i am really dreading if they tell me i must have one but like someone else said, if you are prepared for what will happen and it means a healhty arrival for bub, then how could you not! oxox

oh neptune. hope that bub gets moving along soon. the only other thing i've heard of is to relax. maybe you could treat yourself to a facial or such and just let go? also maybe try walking or some exercise? hope bub gets moving soon lovie. ox

persephone - oh dear! poor DH... but i did get an amusing mental picture of this grown man riding into a tree or such. still, tell him it is very unconsiderate for him to break his arm right now! Monday isn't far away love. hope the time flies... but it probably wn't with your mum waffling on about baby stuff lol.

lol kellyd - i believe you! the waiting is killing me now and i'm not even at full term! patience is not one of my virtues. hope things get going very soon. oxo

bdt - i just knew it! your dh was just shocked when he initially found out that's all. congrats on your double pink! at least buying stuff will be a bit cheaper cos you won't need a full double wardrobe for a boy and a girl :) I always find pointing out the cost saving of a situation to my dh a very good tactic as well lol. ox

afm - well after dh's course this year got canned and he was put on the one next april and we sorted it all out... got a phone call on tuesday to say he's back on the Oct/Nov course... leaves saturday for 7 weeks!!!! eeekk.. well actually i said f$@!%^&$Q b%%#$#! s#$#~!@ f#%$@#%^# d@$%heads and then cried for an hour.

fortnately my sister can still come down for 10 days and i hadn't got around to cancellng her airfares. so it's back to the original plan, with 3 days notice tho. so dh is running around trying to get everythign done before he goes... he'll only be home 2 weeks before bub is due and the ob told me today they won't be letting me go very much over my EDD. my poor dh, he's got so many 'jobs' to do for me - lawn mowing, moving furniture, organising vehicles, etc

so feeling quite stressy about timings and bubs arrival. and scared about going into labour all alone etc. and about dh missing out on the last 7 weeks of pregnancy. He probably won't get home at all in that time :(

okay pity party must end as i'm off to work. half day today so at least i get nap.

oh yeah, it was our 3 yr wedding anniversary yesterday! yayya. went for a lovely low key italian meal with gelati and a canoodle afterwards. :)

anyhoo, nothing i can do so gotta work with the situation. only got 4 weeks left at work (3 weeks on monday) and have a few things, like KellyD, planned - washing, sewing, craft days, breastfeeding course with ABA etc.

Grub - that sucks honey :hug::hug::hug::hug::hug: You can lean on us in here too if you need, but I know that doesn't really help whilst he's away. But just imagine the reunion when he returns, and then grubby bub will arrive and it will be wonderful :D

Just checking in to see that everyone is doing well. Not much is changing here. Have Ob appointment on wed and since it has been 8 weeks since I saw her I have a list the length of my arm and leg.

So bad went shoping again yesterday and bought more blue things like we need any as we still have all of Campbells baby clothes.

My plan is to sort out his clothes into sizes and pack them into boxes. Iam finding that we are slightly out of season for the two of them Campbell being a beginning of summer baby and this one being an end of summer. That is my excuse for shopping and I am sticking to it.

Oh I think we have a name, we have had it for a long time but when we found out we were definantly having another boy I stressed that it was to old/uncommon. So give me you thoughts. Drum roll it is Xavier. (Dh wants to spell it Zavier as he will never pronounce it with the X)

Oh good news the MIL moves out on the weekend and then we can get bac to a normal life.

Saph, I'm a family lawyer, so I see every name there is. Xavier is a beautiful name, very strong and I think, timeless. I might need to add it to my list...

i really like xander and xavier but DH isn't big on them. He also prefers the phonetic spelling for xander ie zander. personally i like the x. ;) good luck saph.

Saph: A friend of our has a little boy who is 10 months old called Xavier. It really suits him and is a strong boys name. I think I prefer it spelt with the X rather than the phonic as all through his life he will have to say Xavier... Spelt with a Z.

Good afternoon Ladies

Well I have some news on the 6th October my 2 little boys were born Harper weighing 2160g (4lb12oz) at 9.41pm and Cody weighing 1460g (3lb2oz) at 9.42pm They are both doing really well they didn't need any oxygon. It was great to hear them screaming their heads off when they came out. They are both in the nursery in incubators Harper is doing well they are thinking of putting him in an open cot in a couple of days and Cody just needs to put on weight. They are so beautiful.

I can't believe they are finally here.

Azzranae - well done! Must be so good to have them this side!! Hope you are able to get lots of snuggles while they are being incubated!

Saph - I hear you about the name thing when a teacher. I was a teacher (until this July!!!) and there are just too many names that carry too much significance. I have a list as long as my arm and about three hundred other people's arms of names that are DEFINITELY out! Made boys names sooo difficult. I used to love Jack and Thomas as they were my Grandmother's brothers names and although I never met them, she spoke about them so affectionately but then I started teaching and it was almost like a scientific law that a Jack or Tom was going to be in there with the naughtiest bunch. Interestingly enough I read about a study that was done in America where random teachers were given the same paper to mark however with different names. The papers with 'different' names or names that were not spelt in the ordinary way were marked down even though they contained basically the same content. I can see that happening though as much as we would hope it wouldn't. I am sure though that every teacher has that moment when they get their class roll for the new year and see a couple of names and think 'OH no here we go!!' I have to admit though I have never been wrong about that unfortunately!!

BTW in both countries I have taught in I have never had a naughty Xavier! And I like the traditional spelling. I am a bit of a stickler for that though. I believe we need to think of our kids having job interviews and official meetings later in life and sometimes conformity is a blessing. I also believe strongly that I want my child to be remembered for the strong impression he/she gave to people because of their individual personality and beautiful nature rather than because they had an unusual name. That is just my opinion though!!

Grub- Damn about DH being away. I hate my DH working nights these days let alone leaving for a more than a week! Has he had lots of kick action though from bubs? That is the biggest thing I would resent DH missing (as well as the supporting of his poor vulnerable pregnant wife of course!) I hope you have some great girly time with your sister to make up for it.

Persephone - hope those symptoms settle down soon. Good luck with the scan! Oh and poor DH!

Neptune - good luck with the natural methods for induction. My DH has already been warned he may be needed for nipple stimulation if I go over (I know it is early but I have been thinking of my birth plan) and his face when I said it!!! LOL!!!

Murph - I hope like Kelly said that they decide early about your c-section so you don't waste time and energy labouring. Good luck! I am going to look into slippery elm as well as it sounds great that you are now sleeping!

Kelly- Hope the wait is not too much longer!

Everyone else belly rubs!! Pregnancy brain is taking over and I am getting confused looking back over posts and keeping up. I am thinking of you all though.


AFM- Doctor sent me a prescription for iron supplements as I am slightly anaemic. I am vegequarium (my version of don't eat meat but eat fish!!) so I am going to increase my intake of eggs and fish and see if that helps. Bubs is really active now and responds to touch and us talking to him so makes it fun in the evening playing games with my belly. (I think I have already told you girls that! Damn pregnancy brain or my life is sooo boring that that is the only thing I talk about!!) We finally got a car. Nice family car with 5 doors so we don't have to lean over seats to get the baby in the carseat! Paid more than we wanted but we reasoned the reason we have had so many disasters is because we keep buying cheap cars!

O.K girls I need some advice, DH told me last night that his mother has decided that she wants her grandparent name to be "Mum Mum". Well I baulked at that one as I am going to be this little ones mother and she only has one. DH doesn't seem to think it is a problem as that is what he and his brother called their mum's mother, although I'm sure if I told him that baby was going to call someone else Dad he wouldn't like it. So how am I suppose to get this resolved, I have been up half the night stewing over the best resolution and can only think of either:

That if he wants baby to call his Mother, mum then what am I to be called or
He can refer to his mum in that way but there is no way I can so I will only refer to her by her name.

As my mum & dad have been grandparents for 22 years they are known as Nanna & Grandad, but there are other options available that don't diminish there importance without having to be known by the name that I have waited so long to hear be said to me.

What would you all do, I just don't know how to approach this and with only 3 more days until she is here this is the last thing I need.

Now that is a dilemma! I have never heard of a grandparent being called that but if that is your DH's family tradition you are going to have a fight on your hands. The only compromise I can think of is you referring to her as 'Mum mum sarah/joan/sally' or whatever her name is. Then you are making a distinction from you. Will you be Mummy while they are little? That might make it a little more different for you as well.

Honestly though it is a bit of a bugger. Maybe you could make a point of pronouncing it wrongly like MomMom and just plead ignorance saying you had never heard of a grandparent being called that so you just assumed it was American or foreign!!! LOL! Or secretly encourage your child to call them Nanna and they will be so enchanted with them saying it when they do, they hopefully won't care! Like when kids have their own name for grandparents and they stick like 'grams' or 'grum grum' or like my cousin's children who call their grandmother 'looley' because her name was Lucy and the first child couldn't say it and it just stuck.

Those were all the compromising ideas I have. Personally though I would be extremely p###d off about the whole thing. I have already had a grumble about this one with my DH. He wants his mother to be Grandma and I have always had Nannas. She is already being called Nanna by her first grandchild so I just stuck my guns (without asking her opinion although she was a part of the conversation!!!) and said 'well that settles that then. Our child will call her Nanna too, won't he!' End of conversation! Admittedly my situation was a lot easier than yours.

I'm going to do updates later, but Kelly just wanted to let you know I'm in your corner and after a bit of gentle persuasion (he always comes round to seeing sense:D), so is my DH, after discussing it with him. He could see your side but then thought it wouldn't be a problem for him until I reminded him that if he had to share Dad Dad with my Dad instead of Dad being Pop, it would take something away from him being Dad. He thought there was a distinction but babies will say "Mum Mum", "Dad Dad" for Mum and Dad too won't they, that's how they learn (even Mum Mum Mum!) It's your DH's family tradition but it's not yours and it's quite an imposition to lay that one on you. You tell DH from the sistahood....not happy Jan! Mum is your title, you've worked bloody hard for it and while lots of things don't matter, this one certainly does. Hang in there, this is ultimately one for your DH to back you up on and support your decision and for him to sort out with his mother. You relax and don't stress.:hug:

oh kellyD, men are truly idiots aren't they! i'm with poppyfairy and murph. I would be saying absolutely no way. this is OUR family and I AM the ONLY mother, mum, mum-mum or otherwise. His mother has had her turn... it's yours now!

i'd also suggest pointing out that your brother/father etc should be called DadDad then. I bet he won't go for that one!

I'd sit down with him and calmly point out why you don't wish this name for your MIL - your are the mother; you feel its robbing you of your hard fought for title and name; it's not your family tradition - you can start a new one with a new name; a baby would not be able to distinguish betwee the two.

If he is not open to your point of view, I would just start referring to her as "grandmother'' or 'grandma'. It's hers and DH's problem. and if MIL says somehing or Dh 'corrects' you in front of her i'd calmly say "i believe I am so-and-so's mother''.

Or say "MIL didn't carry bub for 9 mths and birth the baby so she hasn't earnt that right''.

hi to all - so glad its the weekend except DH leaves 10am tomorrow. all i had to do was look at him this arvo and i burst into tears. am feeling very sad and alone atm :(
oh and my mother has decided to grace me with her presence while dh is away "to make sure i'm okay". could be more trouble that its worth, she can be a very painful, precious person sometimes.

KellyD, the MumMum thing freaks me out. Blegh, I don't like that. I think it's creepy. Tell her that she doesn't actually get to decide that without you agreeing. YOU'RE Mum, not HER! GL with explaining it to DH. We have several grandmothers in our family (same-sex relationships make for lots of Nanna's!), but everyone is Nanna and then her name - so, like 'Nanna Judy,' etc.

Anyway, I can't do any more persies (except Smithy, I love the belly pics!) because I'm :sick: I'm 6 weeks pregnant today and the MS has kicked in with vengeance. And my nipples could get me a starring role in a porno :redface: I have to go and lie down now...but I love being sick! (Please don't remind me that I said that later).

well i'm going to say YAY seph for the sickness. i was the same - a very love/hate relationship with m/s. it was a bit of a security blanket - just like the movements become.

bluey has been very quiet this morning, only a couple of moves i've felt so far. He must be feeling sad like his mummy because daddy left an hour ago and won't be home for 7 weeks. But i've had a good cry :crying: and blubber (scared the dog) and am treating myself to a burger and chips with a movie and puppy cuddles on the lounge (about to go fetch it all now).

So sorry for the long post guys and sorry if it's a bit me first I'll put some persies in at the end...

Just wanted to pop my head in and say hi, and I'm still here! Been MIA a bit this week, we've had DH's 2 eldest gkids (aged 9 & 11) staying with us this week and they've kept me on my toes! Oh it was sooo great to have them here, just one-on-one, us & them, the way it used to be years ago, no interruptions just us & them 24/7. We have missed this precious time with them because of some family issues that have kept us apart and can't wait to bring them here again! Hopefully their 3yo sister will feel up to leaving Mum and come next time too. We'll try to do it a couple more times before Cookie arrives. :family:

I must admit I've had a bit of a shocker, their Mum came up and stayed last night too, she is the same age as me and mostly we get on ok, although we have our moments, but last night was fantastic, we were chatting all things babies & families, which is great as that common denominator has always been the missing link for us, and it's always been the one thing I'd hoped to be able to share with her, which is why I'm glad we're all back on speaking terms. She gave me lots of great advice and I really think it made her night to have someone listen to her "expertise" and making her feel valuable for a change. And then we were enjoying ourselves so much we lost track of time and finally dragged ourselves to bed at 4am :oops:! And then I was wide awake at 6:30am! Which is why I am rambling and probably not making much sense. So as soon as I finish this mammoth post I'm off to bed for a nanna nap!

KellyD: You poor thing! I'd tell them all (very nicely) to get stuffed, Mum is yours and your alone, especially after what you've gone through to get here! And when a child is learning to speak they usually say everything twice anyway, so MumMum, DadDad etc. and that is just not on! Maybe offer a compromise like MaaMaa or even just Maa and DH's dad could be Paa.

it will be a bit of a me post just to catch you up on what's been happening with me even though I am following all of you.

First, yay Seph...I know that feeling. It's a sign if nothing else and hopefully it won't last too long and make you regret it. 6 weeks, congrats!

Grub...oh defence family life just sucks. I grew up an Army brat and DH was Army when we met so I know the cr.ap they put you through. I'm so sorry it's all happening to you at the moment when you least need it and hope that the family helps ease the feelings. On the plus side, I loved all the time we had apart for really writing letters and communicating. No one does that these days and I'm sure that's what made our relationship so strong when DH was in Rwanda at the start of our relationship.

Okay, so I went to hospital for my 36 week appt on Thursday only to be told that Jazzy is quite small and they wanted to do measurements as they're concerned she may have a small tummy and not getting enough placental nutrients. so there it is. I've been defending the 20 comments a week I get about how small I am/she is and then the first obstetrician I see, confirms it:doh:. I've just been seeing midwives and doctors and they haven't seen the need to send me for more tests or to see an obs so I'm semi miffed, but then again, I'm still sure I have nothing to worry about. I've just been messed around a bit through my rural hospital and share care system and I would have given anything to have more tests done down in Cairns for peace of mind, the amount of times I've been scoffed at and I've defended this little bundle.

anyway, the obs wanted me back in Cairns on Monday for proper tests as she couldn't get all the accurate measurement info she needed on the ultrasound and didn't want to wait a week, but they can't fit me in til Wednesday, so there's a bit of sweating in the meantime I must admit (that mother guilt creeping in) and still a breech bub, weighing approx 2 kg (what the???), with no plan. DH has been doing the moxa to turn her and I think I've given up on that working. the obs wanted to turn her and I'm so against that physical manipulation as I've heard really bad stories, but then again, Caesarian....????

I've been doing as Kelly suggested and reading all about the procedure and feeling okay about it but it's so major isnt it? I was so naieve about it all and thought of just a few more days recovery thatn regular birth:doh: Now I'm reading about the recovery after 6, 8, 10, 12 weeks etc. that's a long time to be bloody sore hey? Ahhhh, confusion reigns today. D H tells me not to get attached to one thing or another and to stay in limbo where I am because guaranteed things will change as soon as I set my mind on something. Oh dear, you poor things stumbling across my rant today.

I'm also a bit flat cos I celebrated my wonder cure too soon and have been soooooo sick with the worst reflux that absolutely nothing will fix no matter what. I think I've done damage and burnt out my oesophagus as I'm just living on ice and I can't stomach the thought of food. I'm just doing prune juice and almonds. Ha ha, so I celevrated my wedding anniversary yesterday not by going to a Japanese restaurant in Cairns as planned, but by stopping in at Maccas and munging down on huge cups of ice. Yay!!!

i really am just ranting so spare any sympathy for the ones who need it. I should be celebrating 30 days at the outset and maybe less than that and that is just amazing whatever way you look at it.

Kel- 2 more sleeps hey? I can't imagine going into labour after all this time being prepared not to, you poor bugger. Maybe it will make you happy to know that I envied your plans for washing on Tues and wed and whatever the schedule was, because can you believe we have no water? Our tanks are nearly dry and that's all we have, and we have to find someone to cart water to fill our tanks. We recycle every drop and do all the right thiings and yet we've just had the driest winter on record!!! In the wet tropics:doh: so yep I have washing envy and I'm currently in triage mode with everything that makes it to the machine.

:hug: oh murph hun its all gonna be ok hun you will do just fine if you need a c/s your to strong not to :) as for letting them try and turn little girl welllllllll thats another story i wouldnt have that done (ouchy lol ) but thats my opinion lol.as your wonderful dh says dont stress or get to worried about things (yeh rite smithy ****er lol ) i will be praying all theses tests will be A- OK and youll have a beautiful little girl in your arms soon hang in there sweets xoxo

Thanks for your comments regarding the Grandparent name thing, I was sure that I wouldn't be the only one to freak out at that one. Well I think I have decided that when I introdruce these new Grandparents to the baby and like to the midwives and stuff I'm going to say..."This is .....'s Grandma/Grandpa". I think that is going to be the best way so that I am making my subtle point without being blatantly obvious of my dislike. I suppose the only consolation is that they live 10 hours away from us, so regular contact face to face will probably only be a few times a year where as my parents live 30 minutes away so they will be the grandparents she will see regularly and as they have been grandparents for so long they automatically refer to themselves using the names of Nanna and Grandad.

Anyway as you have said, only 2 sleeps to go. We went out today and bought the last item I wanted before she arrives, a baby sling. We already have the baby carrier but a friend of our who has a 6 week old told me that the sling has been her godsend as when her baby has been unsettled and she just has to get stuff done around the house, she just puts the baby in the sling so it has close body contact but then has left her with her hands free to do stuff around the house. So I invested in one today as once DH goes back to work when bubs is 3 weeks, I will need to start doing basic housework and anything that helps get that done without causing too much distress to the baby must be a good thing.

Anyway girls, if I don't catch you all tomorrow I will try and drop in next week and let you know all the news. I'm going to take the laptop with me to hossy (can you imagine 5 days without internet) so I can also keep a watch on your journey's as well.

Murph: I hope that everything goes o.k on Wednesday with your growth scan, you have always felt Jasmine was on the little side and they say you can't beat a mothers intuition. It must be so frustrating to get this far down the track though and have this to now deal with, but so long as she has strong lungs when she comes out that is the most important thing.

Sorry have been MIA. I finished work yesterday...WOO HOO! So had a hectic week trying to getting everything organised before my last day yesterday. Im :pray: Ive remembered everything! Ive told work they can call me if need be.

Seph - sorry to hear about your MS. Its not very pleasant. Hope it eases up for you.

Murph - good luck on Wednesday. Hope they can give you some more infinitive answers. As for a c-section, as long as Jazzy arrives safely is what counts. As for recovery, I had 2 laparotomies done last year which are bigger cuts than a c-section. They did hurt and recovery took between 4 - 6 weeks and my tummy still isnt the same now! From what my friends who've had c-sections have told me, lots were up and walking the next day. As long as you get help when you're home is the key as you are restricted with what you can do. Take care and keep us informed.

BOC - congrats on the good NT results. Its such a peace of mind :D

BDT - Congrats on the confirmation that your having 2 pink bundles :clap: At least now you can go shopping :D By the way, you are looking TERRIFIC! Love your updated belly pics.

:hello: to smithy, saph, greenslw, poppy fairy, neptune and everyone else.

AFM, as I said earlier, I am now on maternity leave!!!! Washed all my 000 sized clothes today, together with bubs booties, mittens and bibs. The line is FULL, lol My DP is starting to stress a bit now thinking how are we going to keep up with the washing etc. Saw my OB on Wednesday and he is happy with my progress. BP is great which is a relief so the tablets are working. He is now on 2 weeks leave so will only see him once more now before he delivers the baby. Have an appt with him on the 26th in which he'll tell us about the whole c-secttion procedure etc. Its all becoming VERY real now. Was hard to say goodbye to everyone at work. Lots kept telling me how much they'd miss me. As much as Im looking forward to not travelling to and from the city, ive been at my job nearly 20 years so its a huge change to be staying home for the next however months. My feet and back will thank me mind you as they have been hurting lots. All the extra weight isnt doing me any favours.

Hello and big belly rubs to everyone else - sorry for not gettibng to everyone but i am reading/lurking daily and thinking of you all.

AFM - had scan and appt Friday - fluid levels around the babies and blood flow through their cords is "textbook perfect" they apparently look happy and healthy BUT their is still growth discordance twin 1 is now 1700g and twin 2 is 1200g so we are looking at induction at 36weeks - will be given a date in 2 weeks time. So it's starting to feel very real and i'm getting very excited as i am so uncomfortable now - getting alot of back pain and pelvic pressure if i'm not careful and don't stay off my feet. So thats my exciting news - starting the count down! Now just trying to get last few things together. Anyway better go and get some dinner organised :rolleyes: Take care ladies xxxx

ATM: few it's the weekend finally for me. Really tired and menally burnt out. Good week but so full on, Lots to do at work.

I baught a cot! and some other cute things which was nice, it all feels real. Was so excited to reach the 24 week mark. Saw the OB and she seamed to think I was lying about how much Squeak kicks well as she put the doppler on me, Squeak booted it! perfect timing little one, so she ate her hat.

I love the movement but it is so distracting, seams to go 2 days loads of movement 2 days just a little, wonder if it's growth stuff, booked in for my sweet drink in 4 weeks Hope it's all ok, feeling ok but who knows. The weeks are flying buy.

Oh odd craving of the week, Toast+Bacon+Honey, I stopped myself but boy I felt like it hehehe

Murph - How frustrating for you with your local hospital. I bet you can't wait to get back there and give them the BIG 'I told you so!!!!!' Now you have the big hospital on your side Jazz and you can get the support you both need.

Greenslw - love the kicking the doppler! Classic! I was just going to say I haven't been getting big kicks and that minute I got a massive painful kick!!! They are more clued in then we think!!! Go for it with the bacon and honey! I am a vege and that even sounds nice to me!!

Kelly - Good luck with the delivery! Glad you have come to a decision about the grandparent thing. What sort of sling did you get? I got a close parent carrier which is like the hug-a-bub and apparently that can be used while you do stuff about the house as well

Everyone else Hello!!!! and belly rubs

AFM - Had my first antenatal class yesterday. Was hoping it would be a chance to make some friends here (we only moved to this town a few months ago) but have never been in a room with such a miserable lot!! DH and I were surpressing giggles at all the 'rude' information like descriptions of perineum massage (immature I know but we had to get some fun out of it!) and everyone else was so poker faced. I felt like the naughty kids at school. The midwife even tried to make some jokes and DH and I were the only ones that laughed!
Today we went on a tour of the labour ward and some even more depressing people were on that! DH and I told off our bub afterwards and asked him why he decided to be born at the same time that the most boring people on earth were also giving birth!!
The labour ward tour was good though. It seems they have as their 'policy' all the things I want from a birth. They routinely do skin-to-skin contact straight after the birth and encourage the baby doing the breast crawl. They don't do any weighing or anything (unless an emergency) until you have had an hour to cuddle. They also let the cord stop pulsing before cutting and don't force you to have injections for the birth of the placenta. They also actively encourage active and upright births. They have aromatherapy and ensure the room is dimly lit and quiet. They have all the birthing balls and pools and low couches etc. Really good for an NHS public hospital!
Our room is now almost a nursery. DH put the shelf up for bub's nappies and stuff and took the mirror off the dressing table that is going to be our change table and moved it into position. The baby hammock is still packed away as it is too early yet for that :( I cannot wait to wash and fold his little clothes. I think I will do that at 30 weeks. It is still early but I will use the excuse of dwindling sunlight and cold air for doing it then. the clocks go back here soon and it will be dark at 4:30pm and too cold and dark to be hanging stuff outside and I want the clothes to get the disinfecting effect of sunlight.

Sorry for the long me bit but lots of exciting things to share. Well I am excited!!!

Oh Greenslw... don't feel bad about the craving, my preggy friend recently got me hooked on raisin toast topped with bacon & maple syrup and although I was a little shocked at first it was yuuuuummmmmm!


Just a quick one today, I just had to share. Shortly after my ramble yesterday I went and laid down for a nap. While I was laying there I started getting this pushy, pressure-like feeling at the very front of where Cookie is. Then it stopped, then a few minutes later it started again & stopped again. All of a sudden I got these bubbly little tap-tap-taps happening! So clear and so very exciting I was in tears of happiness! I know it's still early and I'll probably have to wait a few weeks for some good whacks but it's just great, the most awesome feeling ever! Can't wait for the big goalie-or-ballerina kicks to start!
