Hay, that is a HUGE shop! Will you put a piccy of your nursery up on your website once you have everything set up? Please [-o< ?
Shez, I really don't see the point in going private, as I don't intend on having an OBS birth. Plus, I hear that nearly every baby is delivered by 'some' OBS but usually not the one the woman has been seeing all pg (don't blame the OBS, can't help awkward timing!). Plus, why spend my entire baby bonus amount on the OBS/anaesth bill when I don't even want that intervention? I'm a bit radical (I guess you can tell) but I don't want to put myself or blobby at risk. Look forward to hearing what your friend has to say. Is Logan a private hospital?
Actually, DP and me are talking about moving to Tweed Heads if he can find work there or at the Gold Coast, so don't really know where I will be living come due date!
Hey Bel, I just checked out your www & saw your belly shots - Gee you aren't all that big (at least appears that way in the photo). Must be glad! You got a compact one! ;)
Sal
Logan is a public hospital. I asked about the public/private thing out of curiosity as I work in a Private hospital and if (no when ) I get pg I will be going privately. I will see my friend tonight and post after.
Hi guys,
Not sure where I belong at the moment...
But thought that I would pop in and say hello.
I can't get my new ticker to work, please help O:)
Oooooh Tiff, congratulations :D What's the prob with your ticker, I'll see if I can help...
Tiff, we'd love you to join us in here! You must be over the moon, congrats again! :confetti:
Hey Sal,
Yep over the moon and also very stunned and very scared too.
Saying my positive affirmations for a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby alot now!!!
Hey Tiff, welcome! Hope you enjoy a really long and positive stay here!
Keen, yes, everyone seems to say that my belly is compact or "neat" as I have heard in the last little while. The front on picture at 32 weeks looks huge, but then you go to the side and there's not much there. I didn't really start to get any belly until about week 25, but it just looked like I'd had too much to eat tee he he!! By the scans the baby is smallish but ob won't move my date, because he knows exactly when I conceived due to the IVF, so it just means we're having a smaller than "average" baby. DH was only 4 pound and I was only 6 pound something, so not very big for either of us (DH is a twin).
Hay - how's the nursery going? Got it all set up yet? Make sure you post some pics on the web site so we can all have a little looky.....
To all you Brisvegas girls, I have an old friend up there who is about 15 weeks pregnant and I think she is going public, she has been enjoying it so far, so no probs with the public system. Hope you all have the same deal. Not sure what hospital she is going to, she is sort of half way between Gold Coast and Brisbane, so Im not sure where she is going to....
Love that new ticker Tiff - so happy for you
Gabby - 15 weeks that is amazing go Munchie
Sal - hope you get pregnancy care sorted out 7 weeks you are moving along
Tam - best of luck for u/s Wednesday
Hayseed - your shopping trip sounds like well deserved fun for you - your baby shower will be a bounty of cute things and good stuff .
:heartbeat: Trish
Hi all,
Nup, haven't done anything to the nursery yet - was going to get stuck into cleaning it today, but have been feeling a little bit "off" today. Hopefully tomorrow. But I'll make sure that I put up piccies on the website.
I have been meaning to put my belly shots up, but because DH and I use our digi camera at ultra high resolution, the pictures are too big for the babies online site. I will have to resave them as smaller files. I am being a little stumped in doing this as the picutres are sooo small by the time I reduce them to under 100KB. Any suggestions???
Hayseed
Hey Bel, you're right about your 32 wk tummy. You look really big from the front and quite small from the side!!!
Hayseed
Hayseed - I think even if you resize them to web page size option - once on website they can be enlarged by the person viewing - I checked it on mine
Can't wait to see your pics -
Trish
Hi girls,
Hay, I use Adobe Photoshop, in there I have the option of selecting both the kb size of photo as well as actual dimensions, not sure how to do it elsewhere. Hope you find out, would love to see a belly shot (and those nursery piccies too)!
Gab, a huge GOOD LUCK for your exam, I have all fingers and toes crossed that pg-brain and m/s will stay away and you'll fly through it. :luck: :crossfingers:
Sorry, must go, am trying to stay off the net as I have five exams looming (from the 15th - 27th).
Tiff, love your ticker! When is your EDD?
Thank you Sal - feeling really apprehensive....
But I guess you just never know.... It feels really weird going into an exam knowing that I have to aim for at least 80% in order to secure a pass.... Under normal circumstances, that would be a distinction effort at least ](*,)
Best of luck with your exams, don't study too hard, remember to rest... (yeah, I know Mum...)
Only two more days and you are 8 weeks....
TamB - good luck for the U/S today. Thinking of you at this stressful time.
Best of luck Gab. Does the fact that you have done it before help?? Were you able to concentrate more on areas you felt weaker in the first time round, or is this a case of starting from scratch??
Sal, we have Adobe Photoshop (notloaded on this computer) so I'll give it a go.
Hayseed
Hi Guys,
Sal and Gab - good luck with your exams. Sal, just checked out your photos, you spunk you!
Tam B - hope everything went well with the u/s.
Hayseed - looking forward to seeing your pictures when you get around to it.
Sal (again) - my sister has started work so I've had trouble getting hold of her. Will try again tonight.
Hi All
Just wanted to update you LTTTC girls on my status. U/S was yesterday and we are pleased to announce that we are having TWINS!!!! Both are very healthy. I have set up a website if you wish to take a peek at the twins.
Wow Tam CONGRATULATIONS!! Hope all goes well for you both and the twins!!
I have nothing really to report today, have an OB appointment this morning, hopefully everything will be fine.
I spoke at our IVF clinic's fertility seminar last night, it was really nerve wracking, but Im glad I did it! I just spoke about our journey and everything we had been through, but tried not to get too bogged down with the pitfalls, because most of the people there were just embarking on IVF and I didn't want them all to run for the hills. It was good to see so many people there though, well, good in a reassuring sort of way, that people are actually considering going down the IVF route, as much as it was hard, we are glad we did it.
Thanks Mel!
Tam's a cutie - and check out her flat tum!
Hi Sal,
My EDD is 5/2/06 but know that bubs will be born around the 36 week mark, all going well.
My prog level was 112 and my hcg was 1490, so looking good so far.
I'm so scared though and don't want to get my hopes up.
Those numbers are great, Tiff. So your EDD puts you in Feb, but at 36 weeks that means you're in Jan, so you should join us in the Jan pg buddies thread!
I can't even imagine how scared you are (my fears are all based on the pure unknown, I have no experience of loss), but once you get to the 12w mark hopefully you can enjoy your pg more.
When will your first u/s be?
Sal,
I have my first U/S on the 23rd of June. The doctor wanted to make it sooner but I couldn't cope with being on the boarderline gestation for a positive heart beat. I have to be sure that it will be long enough for the heartbeat to be there. Does that make sense?
Tiff - it does to me - :hbeat: loud and strong it will be by then
:heartbeat:
Trish
Thanks Trish!
Awww, congrats Tam :D
Tam -
Fantastic pics and it's great that you're having twins. Hope everything keeps going well for you.
Love,
Mel
Tiff, I know what you mean exactly! When I realised that the furthest along I could possibly be for my u/s appt date was 6w0d then I was so worried that they wouldn't find a heartbeat and I'd of course be beside myself even though it is touch and go to see one anyway. I guess the downside of your approach is that you have to wait a little longer to see the little heartbeat!
Hey, I'm 8w today (and don't feel pg at all). Phew. Have an OBS appt for June 28 (my first one ever) but am dithering over whether I'll actually go to it. Decisions, decisions. Am staying with my parents and have had some 'discussions' over my strong ideas of what I want in my labour and also about going private or public. Needless to say, now I'm less sure of my pigheaded stance. *sigh*
Hi Sal, what about your DP? What do they think about the private/public debate?
Sal
Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner. I saw that friend on saturday night but just before arriving at the dinner I found out that yet anothr one of the girls going was pg and I forgot all about asking her. About your labour plan I just say be open minded, the friend I was going to ask about the OB thing, was very set on having a natural birth, no drugs no drs etc. She would not waiver one bit, then she went into labour with her 10lb 5oz babe and it was impossible for her to not have a c/s. Because she had been so adement all along she was devastated and it was not at all a happy experience. She also got awful mastitis and was unable to breastfeed for some time. She admits that had she not been so set in her ways that the arrival of her little man would have been less traumatic for her.
Just a thought... 8-[
Hi Bel, my DP is fine with me going public, actually I can't really think of a good reason to go private. I think I talked my mum around (she thought that since I have private cover why would I consider anything else). I believe that I'll get just as good care and no big bills. My sis had her third child and as part of her 'private package' the paed drops by and looks at the bub, regardless of whether the bub needs it (hers didn't). All very nice, but then the bill arrives later. Grrr plus the way the private OBS have all rorted the Medicare safety net system by making women pay up front for their care - my sis didn't even have an OBS at the birth but she paid for it all the same!
Shez, thanks for trying, it's hard to pin someone down to pick their brains in a party situation! I have strong views, but am realistic...if the bubs is breach then a c/s it will be, I will be fine with that. I just have my ideas of what I think the birth could be like but accept that once in labour I could be screaming for an epidural and forceps!!
Shezabelle,
I have a friend that was determined to not have drugs & have a very natural birth, she had made out numerous lists & plans etc, She did hypnobirthing/breathing/relaxation etc classes so she wouldn't neede any intervention...
She went into labour & the placenta had begun breaking down & so she was rushed intoi theatre & had an emergency C/Sect, she was & still is devastated..
I did say at the time that she should just be prepared for anything....
She suffered from PND for a long time & actually resented her son because as she put it "She had planned & prepared perfectly for the birth, why did 'he' stuff it up!?"
She is fine now & very good Mother, but says she will never have a baby again, as it showed her she is no good when she doesn't have total control of something!?
She actually calls me & others mad for wanting more than 1!!!???
I try to steer clear of her!!! 8-[
goodness Tracey, that's very extreme of your friend!! Thankfully she is over the PND now.
Yeah, I started a birth plan, but ended up just asking the doctor and the hospital what their practices were in relation to certain things, and most of the things I wanted were standard, and the others were by choice, so I will inform my husband what I want, (we have already discussed this anyway) and he will relay my thoughts if Im not able to. Im pretty much open to just about anything, and I think that is the best possible way to approach it, because as we all know, our babies will throw us a curve ball and do what they will anyway, you can't predict what's going to happen.
Sal, my friend in QLD is going public and she has private cover, I don't think there is much of a difference really, just that you might have to share a room with others? Big deal hey!! There are pros and cons for both, like you said, no bills and no up front costs. I am going private, and Im happy with that. Its all about personal choice I reckon!!
Hi Shannon, thanks for the tip - I'll just try him out!
Hey Tiff, I just heard along the grapevine that you went to the same IVF clinic as me Hunter IVF. How did you find them? Which dr were you seeing Hedges or Raymond??
Hey Belinda,
Yep but this was a two month off clomid conception (a bit like Sal). I see Dr Raymond, in fact will see him up until I need to book into hospital as he doesn't do obstets anymore. How about you?
Sal, if you are wanting to do hypnobirthing then I would encourage you to go through public, preferably with a midwives team. If your local hospital has a community midwife programme all the better. I have used all sorts of antenatal care and midwives were definately the way to go! (not biased at all being a midwife hehe).
I used hypnobirthing for William and I am also certified to practice although I haven't yet, my midwifey friends are trying to talk me into teaching five ladies at the moment, it's all a bit daunting. It's really popular where I work, people are coming up from Sydney to access hypnobirthing midwives. I learnt from Peter Jackson, he is the best!
Hello Lovelies,
Sal - really hope you get to have the birth of your choice but being the down to earth darling that you are, I know you'll be able to handle whatever comes your way.
Tiff - I imagine you'd be a fantastic midwife. If I was pg, I'd want you to take care of me!
Barley - I'm glad your friend got over her PND but it sounds like it's changed her permanently, doesn't it?
Bel - sounds like you are ready for anything which is a good way to be. Best of luck!
Shannon - I'm only just remembering I read on here somewhere before that you had lived in Queensland. I was born there but have lived in Melbourne now for 11 years. I can't believe it's been that long! The last place I lived in Brisbane was at Annerley, just a few streets away from the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Take care ladies.
Mel
Tiff, thanks! I really needed to hear from someone 'in the know' about going public with a midwife team. Phew...it's what I thought all along but I keep getting pushed into the OBS/private direction. I am going to call Logan hospital next week and if there is a midwife team there, speak to them about what I need to do.
Wow, I didn't know you were certified to teach hypnobirthing! If I lived near you, I'd be begging you to teach me, too. As I'm nowhere near Sydney, I am tossing up whether to find a practitioner, or else buy the CDs and DVDs kit from the US and do it myself. Can I have your opinion - do you think I need to be face-to-face to learn it properly or do you think it could be taught by DVD? One of the ladies in this forum just bought the kit and I've asked her for feedback on how she goes.
Sal,
I can send you a book and cd if you like. Some women prefer the face to face and some feel a bit silly in a group. It's really up to the individual.
I did it on my own with a midwife friend but the book and cd tell you everything you need to know. If you learn well through reading and can commit to practicing every night.
With the classes, I found it benificial in learning the different deep breathing techniques but again, it's all in the book and cd. The only thing with the cd is that it is an American woman speaking and she is quite nasally, which some women have found annoying.
Let me know if you want the book and cd and if you want I will find out about good practitioner in your area.
Mel, Shucks, girl, THANK YOU! THat really boosted my spirits!
