can i ask you a quick question? when you were bleeding, what colour was it ( if you dont mind me asking) its just that sometimes mine is brown and other times its a redish colour and did you have bleeds that were heavy ( well not heavy like a period but a fair bit of bloody on the toilet paper when you wiped) and then a couple of hours later have nothing??

Yeah sweet that was like it. It varies in colour at the end it went black and almost globby (Sorry for the TMI) My Ob had warned me about that thank god. It is scary but it does happen to more women than you think.

hey everyone
i need to talk and i dont know where else or who else to talk to about it!
today i have started to get cramps:( and i am still bleeding:wall:
it feels like the odds are beginning to stack up against us.
i have been bleeding for 5 days now and i am so sick of it, i am sick of not knowing or understanding and today with each cramp i lay there thinking " was that the cramp that might of taken my baby away from me":crying:
i am trying my god damn hardest to stay positive and keep my mind off what is happening, but its sooooo hard!!!!
i am suppose to have another bt on tuesday, but do you think i should ask to have it done tomorrow considering i have started to get cramps?? also when is the earliest i can go for a scan??? i know that around 6wks you will see a heart beat, but at the moment i am not worried about that, if my levels are still rising then i know that bubba is ok, i want the scan so i can hopefully get some answers as to why i am bleeding iykwim
the last 5 days have been some of the most wonderful and some of the most worst and worrying days of my life and with all this bleeding and cramps its bringing back memories of my 2 babies that i miscarried 8yrs ago, my god this is so hard
so sorry for bringing this thread down, i just dont know where else to go

I don't think they'd want to do a scan before 6 weeks - as even though they are likely to see a gestational sack, they likely won't find a heartbeat and it often leaves people with more questions than answers...
If it would help you feel more comfortable about things, I'd certainly contact the clinic and see about getting another blood test earlier.
I'm hoping and praying that it's just stretching pains...

On Tra_k - :goodluck: for Tuesday hun. I really hope your levels have been rising as well, and your scan shows a strong :heartbeat:. My work do last night was ok, most people know i'm pg (hard to keep my AC a secret, when I usually start work at 7 and my clinic doesn't open until 7:30 for bt. I found it easier to be honest with everyone at work, and they have been really supportive).
:hello: and :bellyrubs: to everyone else, sorry for no more personals, I'm so tired lately. My levels on Friday were awesome, P - 125 and HCG - 11,000. Another bt tomorrow, and I'll get to organise with the nurse for our scan, so I'm looking forward to that.

Mummy 2 Chloe: - 6 weeks is te scan mark try and stay postive I know it is hard call tommorrow and see what they can offer you but remember the HCG is rising so that is a good sign. (I bled right up till 12 weeks sweetie)

AFM, Well went to GP yesterday to get my multiple test results and it came back that I have mild hyperthyroidism. It explains why I am more tired than usual and haven't gain weight (am close to 9 weeks pg and haven't gain a single ounce!). GP is going a refer to a specialist in the hospital since the normal treatment is not an option because I am pregnant. Good thing is my blood pressure is good.
Anyway, I gave me a certificate for 1 week... not sure if I want to take that many sick days.

M2C - I also had spotting at 5.5 wk and again at 7wk. Both 6wk and 8wk scan showed that everything was okay. I had BT in week 5 as it was too early for a scan - 6wks is the earliest they will want to do it. As the other ladies have suggested, you should call your clinic tomorrow and ask for another BT. Sorry that you having to go through this. My OB told me last week that it is more common than you think, but that doesn't make it any less scary. Will keep thinking of you and :pray:
Kahlan - sorry to hear about the hyperthroidism, my girlfriend had the same thing when she was pg. Good that you have it diagnosed early. Good luck for your appointment this week.

AFM - feeling okay. MS seems to be coming in waves, bad for a few days and the eases off and then is worse again. Tiredness and increased CM is kicking in as well but to be honest, I'm finding the symptoms to be reassuring.

M2C, big :hug: I would definitely be calling the clinic and seeing if they will give you an earlier BT so that you don't have to wait that extra day. As far as scans go, I had one at 5w2d and it was too early to see anything other than the sack so I left there none the wiser really. I wouldn't have a scan until at least 6 weeks when you are more likely to see a heartbeat.
Kahlan, sorry to hear about your hyperthyroidism. Hopefully the Dr's can some how get it under control and start to feel a bit better. I wouldn't be concerned about not putting on any weight though. It's common not to put on anything in the first trimester. I am 20wks and have actually lost a little bit (even though it doesn't look that way! ;))
LNB, you're right. As much as the m/s can really suck, it's reassuring when it's there. The minute you feel better, you start to worry about whether everything is ok.
TL, woohoo for your DH being able to feel Charlotte move! Don't think I will be too far behind you now. Feeling Buddy all the time now but not always strong enough to be felt from the outside. DH sits next to me on the couch with his hands on my belly for ages and eventually gives up! He's always disappointed, but I am sure soon enough Buddy will be keeping him awake in the middle of the night kicking him in the back!
I have just been getting the baby's room a bit more organised. Have chosen a paint colour so will start painting this week sometime. It's exciting to start seeing it all come together.

Megan: i had exactly the samr thing id say to DH quick feel and as soon as he would put his hand there she would stop. It was actually good sometimes as i would get him to put his hands on my belly when i was sick of getting beat up, unfortuantley it doesnt work anymore!

AFM: 6 weeks tomorrow i have my CS booked :o i really dont know where the time has gone, the first 12 weeks took for ever nad now im soo close! feelin abit uncomfy and had a bit of a fall the other night in a resturant, no less :redface: very embarrassing and ouchy have a gorgeous black bruise on my elbow, just as well bub is well and truly padded!! well off to organise somemore chrissi stuff, havin a big party sat (the things we do??) have a great week everyone. :grouphug:
Thanks Megan. I am off to do US on thyroid this Wednesday and then back to GP on Sat to get results. After the initial scare I think I am o.k... thankfully it is detected early. I guess not gaining wait presently is not so bad, considering I am not eating very well anyway... MS issues. My GP is concerned because I am bordering underweight prior to pg anyway and she really wants to me gain weight like full on (like at least 20kgs for the entire pg or something).. honestly I have been this weight for the past 15 years so I can't imagine myself any larger... but it is great to see some stomach showing (or is it just me taking a full breath and holding it in??).. truly I think all the nutrients I eat goes to my hair and nails.. I've got the best shining hair and strong nails you will ever find!.. and now I am babbling :doh::

Do you have an appt for a specialist yet? As you said, it's great that they have caught it early and then if they can get it under control I am sure you will put on some weight the further you go in your pregnancy. Let me know how you go with your appt. I am interested to know how they will treat it in pregnancy since a friend of mine has also recently been diagnosed with this and she want to start TTC.
Hi Kahlan - I was diagnosed with hypo-thyroidism a couple of months before we had our first IVF cycle. My treatment is pretty easy - 100 micrograms of thyroxine every day and I'm sweet. I have heard that hyper is more diffucult to treat because its imblances in the T3 & T4 rather than the TSH that causes hyper - is that correct? I am interested to know how they tackle it in pregnancy. I'm sure it will all be fine - I think the thyroid it is a pretty common problem with a lot of women. I found that there are some good websites out there if you feel you need to do some more research on the threatment and effects.

Will certainly do Nic and Megan. It is the T3 and T4 that is causing the problem however my GP said to me the normal treatment could not be administered because it is not safe for pg. I am waiting for the hospital to contact me with an appointment time... so fingers crossed....

Kahlan- Thanks for the shout out! I'm here reading but still not feeling the best.
Sorry for no personals. My mind is a jumble trying to just stay strong and focused on my little babies right now.
I still have old blood coming out. Slowed down a lot yesterday then I woke up this morning to more than I've had for a few days. I'm freaked out every minute of every day. I just can't bear to think that there is a chance I could lose these blessings. I have started to talk to my babies and tell them they are nice and strong and to keep growing and stay with us.
Had my 1st OB appointment yesterday. All went well. Am really happy and comfortable with him. He is going to try and get me to 37 weeks, but I'm aware that I could go earlier.
He did a scan yesterday as it was 9 days since the big bleed. Both babies looked perfect. Both heartbeats fast and strong. One baby was sleeping..DH says that's our girl! And the other was having a party (DH says that's our boy!) waving his arms around. The busy one measured 9 weeks, 6 days, which was 2 days ahead, so I was so relieved with that. The sleepy baby couldn't be measured cause of where she was lying.
I was so relieved to see they were both ok and so amazed to see one so busy moving already that I was in tears.
So while I was relieved to see all was ok, I'm still so scared. The OB explained that I had a threatened miscarriage and that I'm very lucky to have got through it. He is also hopeful that things will be ok now. I'm still just lying in bed relaxing and I'm really not bored. I know I'm doing my job right now in protecting my babies.
I just want so much for all of this old blood to stop so I can enjoy this pregnancy. I'm so sick of being scared.
Thanks for the thoughts, shout outs and kind words everyone. I'm reading everyday, but just not posting. I figure you don't all need to hear me everyday freaking out!

Bel - so happy to hear that your babies are doing fine - that is really great news! You may think you are freaking out - but you sound good to me - very focused on what is important and otherwise reacting no differently than anyone in your shoes would. I'm glad you are comfortable with your OB. Please keep us posted - I'm thinking sticky thoughts for you.
