Pregnancy after Long Term TTC - February 2009

Hi Briggsys girl,

my first levels taken on the 2/3 were 41 and 90 (but not sure which was hcg!). Then tested yesterday and they only gave me the hcg reading as 4500 so yep it's gone up. I was pretty surprised.

doesn't matter which one was hcg (i'd say the 90, but not sure) - either way, they're climbing beautifully hun! well done

HI Everyone,

Murph - numbers sound great to me! My first BT at 4 weeks +2 days was 480 and my second test at 4 weeks +5 days was 2,038.

KellyD - great to hear about your first scan - it is such an amazing thing to see that little blob and their HB! Wait until you see them at 10 weeks - you will be so surprised at how much more like a baby they look.

Bel - great to hear things are still travelling along nicely. Come on little ones! We know that you can make another 11-12 weeks in mums tum!

TL - exicting times! You are getting so close... wish I had a definite time also, but hoping it will be around the same time as you.

Greenslw - I hope you are taking some time to heal and greive. Big

Hello to BG, Possums (always nice to see you - hope you are well), Megan, Nixon, Nicole, jenc and everyone else that I have missed.

AFM - well tomorrow is (finally) my last day at work! 2 weeks and 3 days until my due date. I am still feeling great overall, but have been suffering with heartburn at night time which has made sleeping difficult. Also the swelling in my hands and feet can get a bit painful. But as of next week will be able to put my feet up a bit more.

At OB appointment this week OB said that bubs has started the descent, but still has a bit of a way to go... B&H have started to get a little more regular and slightly more painful this week. All good signs that everything is progressing how it should be. BP is still perfect and bubs is faring well.

Unbelievably, my little (or should i say boofer) girl is 2 monthes old and doing really well. I just love to come in now and then and see how everyone is going, for some reason i dont seem to get on the computer much any more!
By the way TL i love your new store, well done and loads of luck. Im actually a jewellery designer (but diamonds and stuff) and i just love your designs they are really funky!

Good morning to you all,

I've been a bit like a 5 year old, just full of first time questions. for me it's great to have all these virtual older sisters. I have an actual older sister who is just thrilled and will tell me anything anytime, but it's so great to have options any time of day.

I am settling down a bit and smiling a whole lot more since yesterday's hcg count. Thanks for all your personal stories. It really does help.

I'll write soon with less of a me-focus soon,but for now, I'm following most of you, still catching up with others and wishing you all the very best with your journeys.

Enjoy the time at the moment where you can just focus on your pg. Before you know it the symptoms will start to kick in and then you will really know that you are pg. Trust me in 2 short weeks, I've gone from feeling fine to feeling so exhausted, nauseus and generally blah. I'm now counting down 4 more weeks until I'm 12 weeks to hope that I start to feel more normal again. Hormones are a wonderful thing ..

AFM: Well I am starting to feel tired. Managed to get some listings up on ebay and started the design for my own website yesterday very proud of my own efforts hopefully I will get it finished before Miss C's arrival. I burnt my belly button on the edge of a baking tray last night so having ochies today.

hi ladies

just dropping in to let you know i'm still around. been pretty quiet the last week cos of some stuff going on IRL that has been taking up far too much time and energy. unfortunately, it's not going to go away, so i'm trying to shift my focus BACK to the Gremlin - but it means i'm rather distracted. i am reading, but don't seem to have the energy to put my thoughts into order properly to type out responses.

wow not long to go for some and they journey is just starting for others! so exciting yet scary,

AFM- still sick, zofran did NOTHING but made me vomit even more from the taste, going to gp next friday for a scan referral and to see what else can be done if it doesnt settle, i barely made it through my 2 hour uni lab, it was terrifying! hopefully 14 weeks will be a happy week!

also when did everyone start feeling their babies? ive been told 16 weeks to 18 weeks from pregnant ladies but at uni they say about 20 weeks.

first movement is variable - i felt Gremlin at 9.5 weeks but that was extremely early! have felt consistent movement since about 14 weeks, and DH has been able to feel her since about 16 weeks. having said that, i have a posterior placenta, and have felt stuff a lot of people don't feel (like implantation for Gremlin and each of our angels has doubled me over in pain). a LOT of people don't feel movement to well after 20 weeks - particularly if they have an anterior placenta.

good luck on getting rid of ms at 14 weeks - mine eased a little, but it's still running rampant even now at almost 29 weeks!

I felt movement at 16 weeks onward with anterior placenta, but all feeling has been off to the side. Once I hit around 27 weeks I was feeling (and seeing) bums, heads, shoulders etc rolling around under the skin.
My early experiences were like some one flicking a finger against me (like a popping) but not painful and from the inside. Usually at night whilst watching tv. Some movement felt a bit like a muscle spasm but in the area you'd expect the baby to be - if that makes sense.

Well ladies went and saw OB today and am happy to say we passed our GDT So no human pin cushion for me....double

thanks for the responses! its interesting how varied it can be i know its way too early for me to feel movement but today and yesterday during class there was a distinct feeling of a bubble that felt like it popped twice, sort of like a twitch which is what i put it down too but it nearly made me jump it was that weird, was right under the skin didnt feel like bowels was way to close to the pubic bone for that, but i will wait patiently for the party to begin, i could be further along than i thought or could even have twins as its on mothers side and i havent had a scan and been sooo sick BUT we will see! i just want some energy! and i havent felt hunger in about 10 weeks, i miss WANTING to eat!

Murph, your numbers sounds pretty good to me I remember mine being 2510 at exactly 5wks.

21, I first felt movement at 14wks, DH could feel from outside at 20ish wks and these days he can see the movement from the otherside of the lounge room!! lol I thought the first movements felt like twitches as well, or like someone was poking me from the inside.

AFM, we're off to a breastfeeding class through the ABA tomorrow. I just want to get as much info as I can incase Buddy has low blood sugar and has to go to special care. Plus the class includes an ABA subscription as well, so worth it I think. 36wk appointment Tuesday where we will go through my birth plan which I have finally finished. I did the strep B test today. I couldn't decide whether or not to do it since I have heard the results are not entirely accurate, but on the other hand if I am positive and Buddy were to get sick (although chances are very slim), I would never forgive myself.
I feel like he's moved down a bit too because breathing is a little easier than it has been. My lungs have been squished for a couple of weeks now which hasn't been fun. Other than that, really on the countdown now with only 35 days to go to edd!

Hi all

Congrats everyone on your scan / test / levels etc ! So exciting.
I have my first ob appt on Monday, which I'm very excited about. Can anyone tell me what to expect from the first one? I have written down some questions, and I assume they'll ask me stuff and do things, but I have no idea that that stuff and things might contain. Would love a heads up if anyone has time.

Jen, my first appointment covered my medical history, usual checks such as BP, weight, and all the info about diet/excercise in pregnancy (listeria, mercury in fish etc). He also gave me the request slips for my 12 wks scan and blood tests. I think that was it. My appointment went for about 45 minutes all up.
