Pregnancy after Long Term TTC - Jan 2008

Lenny I've been looking at buying a grobag too but have found them to be really expensive. I asked about these in the nursery thread last night and there is a bit of info there if you want to have a look. I did go out today and bought a Bebe brand one. Sage is asleep in it now so we'll see how he likes it. I paid $45.00 for it at David Jones. I thought I'd get a cheaper one first and then if he likes it I'll buy a grobag aswell. I just didn't want to pay $70 for something he doesn't like iykwim.
How exciting shopping and washing all the tiny blue things. I still enjoy washing Sage's clothes etc :lol:

Sazz The bb thing is lovely isn't it lol. Sage also gets very cranky if he can't get on quick enough when he's starving. I did have a morning where he attempted to get on and the milk sprayed all over his face as bb's were sooooo full.
Enjoy your day with your parents tomorrow and yes take heaps of nappies and a few changes of clothes.
We went to visit my nan in hospital last night and Sage decided it would be a great time to do (sorry tmi) the biggest poo and it went everywhere lol. So here I was trying to change his nappy and all of his clothes on nans hospital bed and he did a huge wee when his nappy was off too :rolleyes:
Atleast it brought a huge smile to nans face. Something none of us had seen for a week or so. Its amazing what a baby can do for a very sick and elderly lady(87 year old).

Oh yeh I knew I spoke too soon about how good Sage has been sleeping. It all went down hill last night. We were up every 2.5 hours and at 3am he decided it would be a good time to want to play until 5am :rolleyes: I hope tonight is a bit better.

We use grobags...I was fortunate enough to borrow my nephews, before we bought some.

I actually got some on special for $35 + $10 postage...they were discontinued patterns but they are great...I think they have run out now (but if you want the website just pm me)...

I love the grobags...Felix went into them from about 9-10 weeks as he was starting to get too frustrated with wrapping. I was dreading the transition but it went absolutely fine!

I'm sure that the other sleeping bags are just as good as grobags...and half the price...I really couldn't justify paying full price so I was very lucky to get such a bargain!

Mako...well done Sage for some great sleep (though not so much last night!)...I think the one thing I have learnt about babies in this whole process is...

"when it's going great, it doesn't stay that way forever...BUT...when it's not going so great, it doesn't stay that way forever either!!!"

I so agree about babies and the elderly, Mako. We take Felix to see his great grandma who is 96...and she giggles like a 5 year old!!! She absolutely adores him! It's so special!

Sazz...yay...the wonder weeks are tough...and the fussy stages get longer as they get older...BUT...what happens after the fussy stage is fantastic...it's amazing just watching your baby blossom! Felix is super clingy at the moment...poor DH was home with him last night (I went to my sister's PhD graduation!!!) and Felix was a wonderful challenge! DH ended up having to come and pick me up! Felix fell asleep in the car and was sleeping beautiful when they picked me up!!!

Lenny...isn't the baby wash just so cute! I too love doing Felix's stuff...and ironing them...they are just so tiny! The other day I hung Felix's little blue shorts next to DH's massive blue shorts...should have taken a photo...it was very cute!

Kimbe...sorry to hear about the back pain...you poor thing...but YAYAY for upcoming maternity leave. It's such a special time before baby arrives...enjoy it, nurture yourself and just bask in the beauty of it...it truly is wonderful!

I too am worried about Ltl Panda...hope she's just enjoying motherhood or pending motherhood so much that she hasn't had a chance to get online...

Big hi to everyone, hope you are all well and having a fantastic weekend. I'm feeling much emotionally today. Told DH last night about my GP visit, ( I wasn't on speaking terms with him until last night, and even then just barely) and he made dinner for us, then got up this morning and cooked eggs benedict for us all and then even did the dishes! OMG!! DH never does the dishes! and he wiped them as well.

Lenny, love that you have finally ventured out shopping, it is just so much fun buying and then washing and folding...i still go into the nursery and move all the little clothes around into differing draws, folding and re-folding them, just picking which little outfit for bubs to wear home from the hospital is frustrating me, though in a good way. I just can't make up my mind.

Sazz, i think you're right about the back pain, though I can't imagine what 18E's must be like! It probably is all the extra weight on the front pulling me out of alignment, though when my MIL suggested the same thing i went into denial mode, when you say it though it's all good and makes sense...hmmm that's probably not a good sign for the MIL relationship at the moment huh. Will definately keep DH on the pump for massages. He is being completely wonderful, the pain's actually caused me to become teary twice now - once in the bath and the other on the couch and both times he's dropped to his knees and asked what he can do to make it ok, he's just beautiful, i am really blessed.

Nic glad to hear you're DH is trying to improve things a little for you - eggs benedict and the dishes is a definate brownie point getter! Does this mean you guys are talking now??

The grobag thing is new to me. (I know, note to self, do more reading about useful things for baby!)
My sister bought me a sleeping bag type thing that the baby is completely enclosed in and it just zips up the front, is that kinda what it is? I thought it was a cute idea and just washed it and put it with all the other wraps and things, i'm so hopeless sometimes i swear!. Might ask her about it when she next visits.

Missy how are you travelling chicken?? Any improve? If not, i hope it kicks in soon, i'm pretty sure there's a hormone boost in the 2nd trimester which might help.

Mako - love Sage's poo idea, anything to divert attention away from his gg's health and to bring a smile to her face hey! So glad Felix does the same thing Monnie. We don't have any gg's locally, but MIL is in early 70's and as she's already pointed out to me her 'grandchildren are her life!' she just doesn't stop talking about the 2 littlies she's already got, i have to hear their every waking moment from a sneeze to a smile. GGRRRHHHH hope she doesn't torture others with stories of our bubba's every waking moment, but i can see where she's kinda coming from too (when i'm in a good mood that is).

Went on a delivery suite tour today, it was pretty uneventful as we did it when we were only 10weeks (yes, slightly ambitious back then!) and nothing's changed, but I am now certain i know where to come for labour and have a good understanding about the initial process of being assigned a labour room...after that, who knows but just being there and listening today brought tears to my eyes with a mixture of excitment and nerves.

Anyway, hope you all have had a lovely weekend with family, friends or just hanging out on your own!

Kimbe - i have pain in a similar spot sometimes. was worse before I got a good posture chair for work. Physio said it was from rib displacement.... she suggested massage and stretching. Anyway, yours sounds much worse than mine - you're DH is s sweetie though! I'd say there's about a 100% chance that MIL will bore everyone in earshot to tears going on about your little one. but that's lovely really. i know that's what my mum will be doing - think she already gives blow-by-blow accounts of every detail of the pg so far to her sisters.

I'm doing a baby wash today of some fabric I bought to make nappies and bits and pieces I got at my baby shower yesterday. It was really nice and got some lovely things. Also learnt a very important lesson when one of my cousin's kids ate some of my medication.... ooopsy. luckily it shouldn't have too much of an effect on him. I really felt quite awful about the whole thing.

Isn't Sage clever putting on such a wonderful show?

Kimbe, yep DH is back in the good books LOL. Had a big cry last night about different things, that he just didn't realise were troubling me, and we had a big chat. Think we both feel better now. I hate being all emotional and I feel super clingy for some reason? which doesn't help LOL.

Marcellus, hope they don't put me in hospital either. I think the GP is talking about bed rest at home, and what worries me is I already know that I won't be able to help myself you know? Just one load of washing or ironing or something else that will just continue on. Mum has instructed me to drink more water to flush my kidneys out before next appointment, had little water intake day of GP appointment.

Missy, hope all is well with you, will go and see if you have posted in the blog section.

Quick post DP is nagging me to get off the puter.

I actually thought I posted here after my appointment but looks like I didn't.

My final amnio results came back with no abnormalities. The OB quickly found the heartbeat so my worries were of course for nothing.... as usual. My iron levels are a little down so I'll be taking iron but other than that all my other BT's came back fine. My next scan is at 22 weeks then another at 32 weeks to check for growth due to the abnormal 12 week scan. Work is so busy these days and I try to rest of an evening I'm not getting much time to come in here and catch up on everything that's been going on with everyone.

Satya, that is excellent news about the final amnio results! So very happy for you :)

Marcellus, whoops on sharing your meds! Though it sounds like the baby shower was good with lots of lovely things for bubba.

Am at work today and have just listened to PM apology. Unfortunately, I was with the kindy, 1's and 2's and they were cramped into the small hall so i was stuck standing the whole time. Am now feeling it in lower back, hips and thighs. I know i shouldn't complain as this is all prep for the birth but is it ok to say i am completely over it now, i just want to meet her!
Monnie, you have said many times what a special times this is...is that because the body ache is so real and then there's an enormous sense of joy and relief afterward?? I hope so cause at the moment, i'd even go back to the m/s of the 1st trimester to finish the pregnancy LOL.

Oh well, at least i've got an easy day otherwise...tomorrow at the high school will be another story though.

Marcellus - you went AWOL for a few days, and i got jittery. Good to see you back - don't go into labour early without letting us know!!

Kimbe - funny you mention MS. I was pretty good really in the early months, but i feel like throwing up pretty much all the time now! It's just lack of space i guess. I'm not actually being sick...just feeling queasy. I want it over with now too - and i've got a long time still to go!! Looking forward to giving up work - although i'm not sure when that will be - i work solely with men and they don't want me to leave...they joke that they'll call an ambulance and it can leave it's meter going outside the hospital, and then it can bring me back when it's all over. Hmm, no thanks guys - i'm looking forward to my last day too much!!

Seeing the Ob tomorrow - with DH too, which will be nice. Just a check-up. Then Ante natal classes this weekend!

Hey Nic - glad you worked that out with DH. Drink up so your test results are better next time - am hoping very much you can avoid hospital.

Like you Lenny I'm feeling quite blah recently. Tummy's a bit upset/queasy and appetite has shrunk considerably. Oh, havn't delivered yet or anything, but thanks for your concern ;). Better not be too soon - i've got a few more weeks of work, then 2-3 weeks to write my essays. It's all planned out. My mum is very impatient though, wants Jelly to come in the next couple of weeks.

Jelly was trying his darndest to remodel my interior this morning.... think he's going to be very much awake at 4-6am.

I did a little investigating and think Ltl Panda would have been due early this week (ish)....

Yeah...it is a very special time but I hear you on the groans of the body carrying the pregnancy...it's hard work!

I just really wanted in the last couple of weeks to 'treat' myself...just take lots of time out for me...doing the stuff I love...lying on the couch, listening to music, using aromatherapy oils....I look back now and just loved it...but I definitely felt like a whale!

You all sound like your doing well and I cant beleive how many lttle bubbies we have in here now, I think Monnie was just waiting for Felix to arrive when I joined you guys my how it has flown.:pI go into the 3rd trimester next week can you beleive it, or maybe already there depending on what texts I read!!! either way I feel huge and still have 13 weeks to go (wow that doesnt sound very long does it eeek).

Lenny and Marcellus - getting impatient too, a little sick of everyone saying to enjoy this time of your life. Im just hot, uncomfortable, not sleeping properly and im am now getting a little worried that this huge belly is containing something that I am actually going to have to push out!!! Oh the joys :rolleyes:

On an exciting note we are getting our cot and car seat this weekend, i was getting a little paranoid we didnt have the big things and dh has given in...so shops here we come :dance:

Hey ladies. Hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day.

I'm hoping my DF is being honest about not exchanging presents today cos if he's sent flowers to work I wont be there to collect them. I got sent home due to paint fumes. Our building is undergoing renos and the fumes were awful - management didn't want the preggy lady there so I was packed off home. I have bought work home but I will still get about 1/2 a day to myself so I'm looking forward to a nice rest today.

Hi You have all been so busy chatting away lol.

I have been mia for a few days as my nan is in hospital again. She's been in since Monday last week as she was having lots of pain from an infection.Anyway we thought she was starting to improve only to find out that she had a heart attack last Sunday night and the stupid nurses didn't bother to attend to her for some time :wall: The lady in the bed opposite her ran down to the nurses station to tell them that nanna was in a lot of bother and they just tried to brush her off until she was screaming at them to go help. Luckily nanna is starting to feel a bit better even though she is in intensive care.

Anyway we are doing well.I think we have finally turned a corner with the bfing and I'm really enjoying it now.Sage is attatching properly and is doing a great job feeding :clap: He's getting so big now. He is starting to fit into ooo clothes finally.Its a bit sad packing away his oooo clothes though lol.
We are back to the physio this arv to check his foot and to see where we go from here.

Lismith all the best with the shopping. How exciting only having 13 weeks to go.

To the girls who are over being pregnant. mako, OMG at your poor nan, glad that the other lady made a fuss about someone going to see her. Nope, haven't been to the GP yet, appointment is 3.15 this arvo. DH is coming with me, then we have to drive for 2 hrs to have our u/s tomorrow. I'm praying for no rain, I hate being in the car while it is raining, plus roads are being cut off around the place, but luckily they come up and down quickly, one of them is the creek where the mother was clinging to her 6month old bubba before help arrived and then she passed away :( so sad. and so very scary. Hoping the Dr won't keep me for too long so we can get on the road before too much more rain and it gets dark.

have just had confirmation on wednesday i am pregnant!!!! It was our first IVF cycle, we only got the one embie out of egg pick up and it fertilized and it implanted....
so today i am 5 weeks... due on the 16th October.

Mako I hope your Nan is OK. It's really stressful when our older relatives start having such serious health problems isn't it. I hope the nurses are looking after her well.

Marcellus - No he kept to his word and I got nothing. We had agreed that we have so many medical expenses (all that extra testing I had to have) and baby stuff to buy that we would not do V day this year. I was pleased he stuck to it as he usually does flowers or a teddy or something and they are a rip off on V day. Nice of your man to bring you those things home.

katones - Congratulations. You did very well to have success with stats like that. I wish you a healthy, happy and uneventful pregnancy.

Hey girls, we made it home safely YAY! GP is happy because my BP was lower than last weeks, still had some protein, but she said it was less than before so she is happy overall. Made a note for me to give to the OB at my next visit telling him about it all. She said she won't get me back again this week as I'll be seeing the OB a few days after, so all good news :)

Managed to get to our scan, and bub decided to be camera shy, so all our 3d pic is of an ear with an arm covering the side of the face LOL. She said she saw a 'flash' and thinks it is a boy. Said if we can convince our OB to give us another scan with them around 30 weeks we might be able to get a nice 3d then. So DH and I will pester him for another one. She also said he has BIG feet. We are not telling anyone that we know what colour though. DH may not be able to keep it under wraps, he has the hugest grin on his face though.

I am so sorry ladies for disappearing on you all......I had tears in my eyes reading through all the pages and each time one of you asked about me....
I have been helping my mum take care of my sisters bub Izabella as she had to go back to work until she found a new employee.....so been involved with my sisters salon and helping out with the baby.....Well no action for me, baby was due on 12th (ultrasound date) but I think it might come after the 19th (IVF due date). I got a fright last night as I had some really bad pains and thought that was it, I am in labour but it stopped and it was disappointing.
Glad to read that everyone is doing well, Monnie, well done on going back to work, must be so heart braking, I saw it in my sister....its really emotional being away from the little ones. How is Felix doing?

Oh Ltl Panda, it is so great to hear from you. You certainly have been a busy busy bee! I thought for sure bub would be here for you by now and with those thoughts came alot of fears not hearing from you! But, so glad the fears are aleviated and the 19th isn't too far away...don't over do things though, remember you'll have your own bubba here very soon and will need all the energy you can muster!

Nic, shame about not getting a good 3D shot of bubs, but at least you know he (??!!) is definately in there and growing nicely! Congrat's on a blue boy!

Satya, glad to hear DH followed the rules...i hate it when they don't, i religiously do and DH breaks it so this time we didn't make any. Which actually had an awesome outcome as DH went the whole hog - technically at this point in time he isn't DH but my DP...then he popped the question on V day and now is technically DF! Yippy!! Will continue to call him DH though cause he may as well be! We've made a pretty big committment to each other with bubs and continually refer to each other in public as H&W.

Katones, welcome and congrat's, i was you this time 8 months back, in complete and utter 1st cycle shock! It is so exciting, I wish you all the best for your pregnancy and growing little person!

Well, for me, everything continues to be going really well. What can i say, other than our engagement, i'm on mat leave now, am taking part in a 1st timer pg research study which means another u/s tomorrow and another chance to see bubs (at 38wks YEY!!) and we've just come home after a night away at our farm stay. Of course, i couldn't play tennis, go horse riding or on the dirt bikes, so sat and read the whole time but it was a nice little get away for the night. Feel like i'm on the home stretch waiting patiently (yeah right!) until the little kicker decides she's big enough and strong enough to come out and face the challenges of the world with her very excited mum and dad. though i know, it could really be a 4 week wait but man i hope not! Bring on the torture of labour i say!

Hope you all have something good happening for you too, particularly those of you that have been struggling with the pressure and hormones and tough stuff lately.

Hey Ltl Panda - good to see you again. Had a feeling maybe you were busy with your little niece (or with your own little one...)That must be really difficult for your sister - lucky you and your mum are there to help her out. Hope your time will be soon - as you can probably guess, we're all hanging out for your birth announcement ;)

Jelly and I are getting engaged too, so to speak. Don't think it necessarily means anything aside from the fact that the poor little tyke has nowhere else to go. My (impatient-to-be-a-grandmother) mum reckons Jelly's coming at 38 weeks.

I made nappies this weekend - so proud of myself! They're quite messy, but hopefully functional, though one of the seams has come apart in the wash :(. woops. That was just a practice one anyway:rolleyes:

I actually just recieved some premmie sized prefolds today in the post as all the others are sooooo enormous on Celeste still and the poor dear cant lie down flat with her enormous cloth but up in the air. I should have made them but too busy/or too lazy these days. :rolleyes:

Mako, hope your Nan is going ok now. SO lucky the other lady was onto things. That is just awful for you and of course for her too.
I agree with you about when you feel totally over being pg, it is completely worth it afterwards. You can then enjoy having ankles again, being able to bend over without making old lady sounds, turn over in bed and all sorts of other things but you will be so in love with your baby that you wont even notice those things for a few weeks. It is strange that Celeste is one month old today and it feels like I have known her forever already. She has changed so much and is finally filling out a bit. She smiles and 'talks' and has the beginning of a giggle coming on now. I just love her to bits!

Hey chicks, thought I would write again.... today my back is killing me, lots of nerve pain in the Lumbur region, and have very strong period like pains in the lower abdomen.
Monnie, glad to read that work is good for you and that its offered you some type of flexibility.... tell you what though, you must have a long journey if you only get home at 3:30, you probably live far or get some crazy traffic....anyways its better to be in your own peace than at work.
Kimbe, great news hun... BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU, and yay for the additional scan, how exciting....

And Marcellus, wishfull thinking, I so hoped my little one to come at 38 weeks, I went as far as 1 hour if intense cardio each day that included cycling, running and skipping, and here I am one day before the due date still wishing for it to come at least one day early...But I do wish you all the luck in the world. I always figured I'd probably be late, not that I'd complain too much if I were early....but wow, how on earth did you manage all that exercise? Just had to come in and brag about my bargain buy! Just ordered a copy of 'delivery by appointment' from QBD for 4 bucks! and 6 for postage lol. I thought it was a mistake, but it went through the checkout at that price.

Have been having some bad heartburn this week, and feel like MS is returning of a morning. Was asked to help out at the schools bookfair, setting up on Friday and selling books in the mornings next week. Said I would help out with setup, but not next week when I'm feeling all blurgh in the mornings. DD has been reminding me to breath big and deep, so very cute.

Lots going on in here to catch up on - i am having a sickie today as i am just exhausted and seem to feel like rubbish at night when i get home. So, a nice quiet day was on order. I don't feel bad - they pay me peanuts and i'm meant to be part-time already anyway. This might be the wake up they need.

Ltl Panda - good to hear you are both ok - but take things easy. I hope you are getting a chance to relax a little.

Sazz - oh the little cloth butt up in the air - very cute, but maybe not so comfie. Still, think of how you had to lie for the last few months!

Kimbe - congrats on the engagement. Not long to go now - aren't we all funny wanting to go as soon as possible! I don't want to wait much longer than the EDD - and i am paranoid now that he'll be an April Fool's arrival.

Marcellus - you are good making the nappies - I am buying mine - but DH is still really not happy about the MCN decision.

Hope to see some more newbies in here soon, as we have got four mummies already, and at least four of us are graduating in the next 2 months! My heart still aches for my LTTTC friends who haven't got their BFPs yet.

Nic - i have a bargain too! I bought 2 gro-bags off ebay - second-hand, but only $40 for 2 so if bugsy doesn't like them, at least them i haven't spent an arm and a leg.

Went to Ante-Natal classes on Sunday - and both DH and i were very pleasantly surprised. It was really well done and we had a great group. Pity they are all due at least a month after me (except one girl who was due in 2 weeks time!). So, I'm not expecting anyone to be in at the same time as us. We saw a Placenta too - which was interesting, but DH was a bit grossed out.

I have another scan next week - my ob says that they always do an extra check at 37 weeks for those of us who had difficulties etc. He is a darling and DH and i both really like him. Pity he is always running late!

Kimbe - congrats on your engagement. I wasn't sure what to refer to my partner as when I started to post on BB but went with DF as we are engaged, but we do live together as well, so maybe should be DP. It's all much of a muchness I reckon.

I became an aunty for the first time yesterday. My DF's sister gave birth to a girl by c section and we got to go visit them last night. Was a weird feeling to know that probably the next new born I hold will be my own. I'm getting little movements every day now - an industrial vaccuum cleaner was used near me at work today and it was incredibly loud and bubs promptly woke up and gave me a kick. Had my first experience of stress incontinence a couple of days ago - I had two powerful sneezes in a row and out it came with the second one... luckily was at home at the time. I now carry a spare pair of nickers in my handbag....just in case.

ooo Satya, I had a bad cough early in 2nd tri and same thing - not nice.

Nice to see you here again Tracey - hope you're doing well too.

Hope you enjoyed your day off Lenny - what a great idea. I've just spoken to work about bringing my maternity leave forward by a week - just not coping very well 'mentally', sure all know what I mean... Is your DH still worried about washing them?

oh wow, a placenta - what'd it look like? was it really huge?

just wanted to let you know that after much consideration, BellyBelly now has a Parenting after LTTTC forum. We recognise the unique challenges of parenting after LTTTC - there is often more anxiety and it is also sometimes difficult to join a baby buddy group that has been together throughout their pg in Belly Buddies whereas you've mostly posted in here.

So for a place to chat once you've had bub, please join the Parenting After Long Term TTC forum. I'll be there too, so it doesn't matter how long ago it was that you had your baby, if you are still in LTTTCer at heart, and this in turn affects the way you parent, or you just want to chat, come join in. Pg ladies of this thread, please feel free to come say hello as well!

Marcellus - yes, DH is scared of washing nappies. I have assured him he only needs to put them in the nappy pail and i'll do the rest, but he's adamant. We'll see. I don't want to exclude him for all the little tasks, (after all, he can't b/f) so if i have to alternate between sposies and MCN's for a while, until he gets the hang of it, then so be it.

Nic - I don't like second hand things normally - but i think this time it was worth it. I like the idea of the Grobags 'cos they are 100% cotton. I think it's cool that you are getting to see all the exciting new things for parents and bubs since your DD was a baby. Some of the fun of being a first timer!

We still don't have the carseat/capsule thing sorted yet...
