Pregnancy after Long Term TTC - Sept/Oct 2007

Mako - I am so sorry to hear you are a little concerned from your appointment.
My advice is (I'm sure you've probably had enough advice) if money is not a concern for you I would be stopping work asap.
Not that I think anythings wrong but just for your own peace of mind & knowing that you can rest if you need to.

I was very concerned about work & thought I was finishing too early at 32 weeks but I am so glad that I did now because I have found I'm even more busy now but I just don't have that added stress of work.
I wish I had finished earlier & you know what if they hadn't been happy with that if I want to go back to work I will be able to get a job elsewhere at the end of the day this precious baby is so much more important than work.

Kotare - glad to hear your hospital is nice, we were told I would be staying for at least 4-5 days which I guess is the benifit of private, they don't have to kick you out straight away & isn't it wonderful that they teach you everything.

Ltl Panda - not sure what to say about the swollen feet, I have found the last few days with the warmer weather mine have been a bit swollen & I can honestly say I am so glad bubs will be born before the summer hits. (good luck, lol).

Hi thanks for your advice regarding the work situation. I spoke to my boss this morning and unfortunatley I'll be there for another 2 weeks unless I go into labour early or a miracle person turns up and starts teaching. Oh well I'm coping pretty well so far this week so we'll see how things go.

Ltl Panda Its not the Ob causing the BP hun. My Ob is the one who is keeping a very close check on me and bub as she knows that my condition can and does become risky to mums and bubs. Bub is ok atm but we need to be checked alot more frequently now. Bub is a good size and not petite by any means lol. Its the fact that my amniotic fluid is low is the reason for my measurements being small.
This is the reason that I'm having another scan on Monday too ;)

I also suffer from the swollen feet and hands which is also related to the b/p. Not everyones is related but some are. I hope yours is just from the heat sweety and you are ok.

Kotare I'm also going private. The hospitals are always much nicer and the food is better too. Atleast you know that you've got a room to yourself and the help is there if you need it. Try not to stress about the breastfeeding hun. I'm taking the if I can do it then great but if I can't for some reason then the bottle is fine too approach.

Wow..rock concerts, new pg news, private hospitals, high BP's swollen ankles and some freaky and scary comments from ob's. And you all seem to be going great guns in dealing with it.
My journey at the moment consists of tears and more tears. The emotions are getting well and truely on top of me. DH doesn't get it at all and just doesn't have the capacity to empathise with my weird thoughts and feelings - he will more than happily continue to do the cooking, cleaning, asking if i need anything, but struggles to just sit with me as I cry and get whatever the hell it is out - he takes it as though it's a personal attack on him then gets stand offish rather than put his arms around me and 'say the right things' and no, even i don't know what the right things are to say, but he should shouldn't he??!!.
I dont think starting back work after the nice break is helping, or the fact that i also have a major assessment due today...I've called in sick to sit at home and complete assessment, but don't have the motivation to begin (cause of the crying, AAARRRGGHHHHH!!!).
Amazingly though, this week of emotions have confirmed i can feel bub move. All the time, especially when i'm overwhelmed with emotions. I'm scared that all the stress and tears are upsetting her too but there's nothing i can do about it. I hope it really doesn't impact on her development - i don't want to be the cause of my baby being emotionally disturbed!
Anyway, sorry for the selfish post, i will hopefully get things together and come back all happy and smiling to share stories of the good stuff.

Oh kimbe - big huge hugs to you. You poor thing. It must be hard to feel so tearful, when i'm sure you are usually happy and cheerful. Let's hope that this is a phase and passes for you soon. I'm sure you aren't doing your little one any harm, and i'm sure DH will survive too lol.

Mako - bugger you couldn't finish work, it makes me so angry that bosses don't allow for things that can happen in pg which may mean you have to finish early!!!

Kimbe - don't worry hun the emotions are just a part of being pg but you should find they ease off at times.
I agree it is hard for the guys because they don't have the answers, lets face it they never have to deal with hormones like we do.
I'm sure it isn't harming bubs either, hopefully things will get better soon for you (don't you hate though when you don't even know why your upset).

Well I had my dr appointment today & I was telling him about all the changes I've noticed in my body & when he felt bub it really hurt & he said well that's because baby's head is down into your pelvis now!!!

So obviously that freaked me out a little because even though I had suspisions she had wandered down him actually saying it made it so much more real.

So needless to say he said bub will definately be earlier than my due date, so there is no more talk of inducing at 38 weeks because obviously she is going to appear on her own.

I just wish I knew how much time I had to get organised he tried to reassure me by saying if she was born in a week's time he would not be overly concerned because she would be fine.

WHAT! a week, I told him I hadn't even finished my antenatel classes yet, lol.
One positive of her already moving down he said it should make it a quicker & less complicated labour, here's hoping.

Had my 10 week scan and was pretty spot on with my dates, bub was moving around lots and the doc was happy with how it all looked. I now feel like I am actually pregnant and a little shell shocked I think, there actually is something in there............now just have to tell my boss tomorrow.:redface:

Well, the tears are disapating, the assessment got emailed in on time, and had a nice family type weekend at home relaxing but also spending time with DH and his middle son. Back at work today and though stressful, am feeling good. Thanks for the understanding last week, i was definately not coping and it was nice to vent in here!

Lis - great news, congrat's. It's so exciting to see bub on the screen moving about isn't it.

Kotare - how's your studies going, are you keeping on top of it all, my thoughts are with you as you near the end. Well Done!

DJ - sounds like a very eventful time with the Ob...does that mean all your bags are packed and the organisation has stepped up a notch! So cool your going to meet your little girl so soon.

Sorry Girls a selfish post from me tonight.
I had my scan tonight and unfortunately it didn't go so well. I have to be at the hospital at 8am tomorrow to HAVE MY BABY. I'm so nervous now and DH is the same. My fluid level was 10.3cm 4 weeks ago and they are down to 3.3cm today. Bub is ok atm but he'll do better when he's here. He has dropped weight and isn't measuring as big as before so he needs to be born very soon.
Unfortunatley I haven't arranged for anyone to do a birth announcement so I'll do it when we are home.

Oh Mako, sorry to hear things are being rushed but hoping that it is all for the best. Wishing you and DH all the luck in the world for tomorrow when your precious bubs arrives!!!! Hi ladies. Just wondering if I could jump in and join you. I have been TTC with fertility treatment for about 16 months and on Friday we finally got our BFP. This was our second FET and they were our last 2 embryo's. Our stim cycle resulted in a blighted ovum and D&C and our second FET was BFN. I couldn't believe that this one was a BFP and I am still trying to let in sink in. I go for my first scan on 6/11/07 and I am counting down the days. My beta result was 759 so I can't wait and find out if one or two decided to stick around.

Anyway enought about me. I will have to go back a few pages and try and figure out where everyone is at with their pregnancy.

Mako- I hope everything went well today sweetness. I thought you might have gone in after I didn't hear back from you. I am thinking about you and I can't wait to hear about the birth of your little man.

DH got to feel midget move yesterday while lying in bed, it was flexing for dad apparently. I was told i looked skinny and was all belly, that was nice, bring on the compliments....I am getting very inpatient at work and cannot concentrate, just cannot be bothered anymore. Mako - I can't stop thinking about how you went yesterday, it's going to be in impatient week for all of us to wait to hear from you.

Yay that your DH got to feel bubs Ltl Panda - was that first time? Mine has felt Jelly a few times, but she often just squirms away and stops moving when he puts his hand on my belly - naughty thing.

The pressure's on Jo... just kidding. ;) Great that you're getting all organised - even 'down there'. I must remember to do that when it's my turn coming up - it's one of those things i'd probably forget though. i know noone else will probably care, but it matters to ME. it's hard though when you can't actually see your nether regions anymore...

Yay on the scan Lismith - wont' be long till you're feeling bubs as well.

Me - still happy, think the stress of the first trimester was just wearing me down, i now am well beaming just a little :D and the nausea is definitely subsiding which is such a relief, I can honestly say I had the first trimester blues, but hopefully thats all gone now. The 2nd trimester is calling yahhooo....11days to go.

Oh and I have been hormonally shouting at dh a bit, but I cant say I dont enjoy that :D

Things are pretty much the same for me here. Still working but down to 3 shifts a week and thinking happily of when I might stop altogether. Not sure when yet but looking forward to that. I am really looking forward to getting the wait down to single digets...less than 11 weeks now so nearly there. My best friend is organising a baby shower for me in 5 weeks time so that should be fun too. She is a funny thing and so totally unorganised so it will be interesting to see...
Last time I saw GP he squeezed and felt to see if he could tell which way up bugalugs is. Apparently s/he was head down but will continue to shift up and down for a few weeks yet. Last night, in the recliner, I watched as s/he turned the other way up. DH was amazed. he was trying to keep one eye on the tv and one on my bare belly but everytime he looked away bubs moved again. So funny, when he saw a big movement he pointed it out to me as though I would have missed it!!! At tennis on the weekend ( no I didnt play, just supervised!) my tshirt was moving all around the place and I really wanted to say "hey everyone look at this" but felt a bit silly so I didnt. I certainly had practice with babys that day with looking after everyone elses while they played. I think ours was a bit jealous actually as s/he was kicking the baby I was holding LOTS!

No time really, should have my head in the books, but i'm bursting to tell you all. It seems we are having a little blue baby. Yep, the scan apparently showed a boy, but we couldn't see - he was being shy. They Dr said it was most definitely there - so I guess he knows.
I would have been bursting to tell you if it was a girl too - neither of us cared either way. But i am liking the idea of a boy too. We don't think we'll tell anyone yet (or at all, possibly). It might be a nice thing for the two (three) of us to keep between us.

I am reading all your posts though and looking forward to getting back into personals soon!

Hi girls. Thanks for the welcome. I am feeling pretty good today but did get a little bout of nausea mid morning. Luckily it soon passed. Otherwise just have incredibly sore boobs. Ouch I like to lay on my tummy to sleep but that isn't happening anymore.

I'm a tummy sleeper too...thought after having Felix I could go back to sleeping on my tummy...but alas my engorged boobs stop me!!!! Ahhhhh!!!

Felix is doing really well...a real cutie...doing lots of 'talking' and beautiful smiles that melt your heart!

2nd trimester is so good Lismith, you can really feel the difference, I am so much more active and the relief from the nausea is the best.

Jo, good on you girl for getting yourself all organised….. I too am intending on getting a full wax, get my hair re coloured few weeks before the due date….. very proud of you girl.

Monnie, glad you popped in to say hi and tell us about Felix…..he sounds just divine.

Ktgirl, sore bobbies will gradually get better, well it did for me, I think around the 11 week mark.

Ltl Panda and Kotare i'm with you on the DH response to feeling movements. Our little one seems to already have sleep and wake patterns (if only she sticks to them after the birth!), but because of it, DH has been feeling her pretty much since 2-3 days after i was certain it was her. He oh's and ah's at big ones too like i might have missed it. I love just watching my belly jump too, it cracks me up.

Has everyone's DH adopted the plural questions...mine has now become accustomed to asking 'how are my 2 girls?' and 'how is my baby and my other baby doing?' It's really lovely.

Ktgirl - hello and BIG CONGRAT's to you, can't wait to hear all about your pg journey, and you know that's what's so awesome in here, each is so different, and yet so similar.

DJTCC...whats the count down now?? So exciting, your like the elder now hey! Not long till you'll be in here with a birth announcement. And what an organisation extravaganza, i am taking notes you're so on the ball! My Dh & I were the same in that it really didn't matter what we were having but it does feel different when you know, it's kinda like they have a real identity & seem even more so real (just in my opinion).

Monnie - so happy to hear you & Felix are doing well & I'm glad you still pop in because we do think of how you're going.

Ltl Panda - I had my bikini wax today & let me just say i'm glad I didn't get a brazilian.
It was very ouchy, apparently a lot of women are more sensitive to being waxed when they are pg & there is no way I would have been able to lay down for any longer than it took (15 minutes).
I must say though I do feel a lot fresher even if it is just a bikini wax.

Zap - hope you feel better soon.

Kimbe - my Dh also does the plural thing & it is sooooooooo cute, especially when he's usually a tough blokey guy (that has certainly changed).

Yeah...Felix is just a delight...he has the cutest smile! I've finally got around to adding some photos to the photo gallery!

Re. DH...to be honest...the first few weeks were pretty tough for him...Felix really wasn't that interactive with him and DH felt much like a 5th wheel...but in the last few weeks, this has changed hugely. Felix is so much more interactive (and interested in people not just their mammary glands!) and DH and Felix have had some really beautiful times...

DH is great with him...changes nappies and does the bathing...and occasionally gives him a bottle of expressed milk.

You have so much to look forward to! Really enjoy the last few weeks (days, hours) as life certainly does change once baby arrives. It's a wonderful change...but it's definitely a change!

Monnie - I just had a look at the photos. Your little man is such a spunk. Give him a big kiss for me!!!

Zap - Thats cool that we are only a few days apart. When are you going for your scan?

Kimbe - Hi and thanks for your welcome. Hope the storm wasn't too bad at your place last night. My DH asks how his two babies are going as well and I keep reminding him it might be his three babies lol.

Ltl Panda Weird - i am having crazy legs cramps every night while i sleep. I was actully going to ask the Ob if it has something to do with my sleep positions. No more tummy sleeping here, sadly.

Kimbe Glad to hear you had a good week, even if there is a storm brewing. DH does the plural thing too - i LOVE it. Too cute. And we have a puppy too, so he calls us all his little babies. Sometimes he tries to talk to my tummy too - but with my sister as house guest we feel a bit weird sometimes...she's not in the least bit interested.

Welcome to the new girls (zap and ktgirl) - and i know of at least one other who just got a BFP but is in hiding until her scan. Good luck with your first few weeks - they were my worst in terms of sickness etc...but it does help make it seem more real.

Monnie - I totally agree with you, Felix is so cute!

Ltl Panda & Kotare - re leg cramps.
I suffered quite a lot with these especially during the second trimester, unfortunately there is not a lot you can do about them.
My dr did say that sometimes the physio's can help.
The good thing is that they do ease off & I haven't had any for about 6 weeks now (touch wood because yes they really do hurt).
I found if Dh rubbed legs later on that evening (not straight away) as much as it would hurt by morning it would be so much better.

Saw dr today & bubs is still very low down in pelvis, maybe a little bigger than average but otherwise everything good.
I mentioned that I had been feeling quite sick this week & he said that the nausea can come back late in your pg, sorry if that just put a few of you girls off.
Last night I was in the worst mood I have been in for ages & then I had no sleep, I think my hormones must be going absolutely crazy atm.

I also picked up my tens machine today so I shall let you girls no after the birth how it went.

DH likes to talk to my belly too! Don't think Jelly can hear anything yet, but never mind. And he asks how she is (we use female pronouns... another good reason to find out the sex) and whether she's awake. I hope mine doesn't stick to her sleep/wake patterns cause she's generally kicking and bumping around through the wee hours of the night. I can see me getting no sleep later on if this keeps up.

I'm pretty sure philly is fine to eat
