Hi lovely ladies!
YogiBear - yep, I had quite strong cramping (AF type) on and off until about 7 weeks, it was quite disconcerting at first as I was convinced AF was coming, then found out I was PG! Totally natural to be worried about every little thing - these babies are hard fought and won. As for the no spotting - I had one mild spot the day before my positive BT, and then one tiny spot at about 10 weeks, and thats it so far. As Brunette said, everyone is different, don't stress if you're not spotting!
LondonMiss - oooh, pre-labour signs sounds exciting (even if they may hang around for a while) - better to have them than not, right?! Good luck for your doc appt on Wed. Love the idea of lying about the due date, unfortunately we've told lots of people already. But on the upside, our due date is not long after Christmas, so hopefully lots of people will still be away and not hassle us like you've been copping! As for the baby name issue you mentioned a few days ago, I usually say "so excited for you on the arrival of little XXX" or "can't wait to meet little XXX" - therefore avoiding commenting on the name, or the sex, if its ambiguous!
Brunette - I'm getting those leg cramps now, how annoying are they? I'm wriggling around like a mad thing at night, trying not to sleep on my back, and every time I move - boom! Cramp.
Lise - saw your beautiful photos, he's absolutely gorgeous! You must be besotted.
CK77 - thats fantastic news about your job, and then getting the redundancy right before the baby comes. Excellent timing! And no impact on the baby bonus - perfect. Yay for your tummy popping out! I can't wait til I look unequivocably pregnant, right now it still looks like I could be either or. PS you ARE tiny, if you ask me!
Hi to everyone else in here, hope you're all travelling well.
AFM - all good here, feeling like the fog is lifting (probably partly because I'm taking iron tablets now for the anaemia!), pants are getting snugger by the day, but the big thing is my BBs have just started killing me again, after being fine for 6 weeks. Think I'm going to get a maternity bra tomorrow. How early did others make the change over? I know its a personal thing, just worried that its so early. I fear that if I buy one now, it won't fit by the end! I'm quite big busted, who knows how big these babies are gonna get?! :o

Hi everyone~ I have been reading up here but wont be doing personals.I will just say regarding the weight gain,i have gained 14kgs and apparently at 35 weeks you stop gaining weight...yay.I now weigh 59kgs and think that may be it.
I had cramping from transfer til about 9 weeks or so for those who were asking.
Im trying to type as my cat has his head on my arm sleeping and my belly almost blocks the lower half of the keyboard..LOL so mistakes will be many.
I have 11 days to go and dh is still working away. Its been 5 weeks now with trips home on the wekend. He is amgry at me becuse when he came home there were dishes in the sink and the house was a mess.He seems toexpect so much of me but im just soooooo tired.By the time i get up,have breakfaast and get dressed,i need to lie down again.I was ready to get shopping done at 11 today but i got so tired i then got back into bed, fully dressed, and woke at 1.30!! I didnt leave the house til 3pm. Anyhow i am trying to be cheerful and energetic but im just a emotional, tired, exhausted slob.Everthing seems to be getting to me.Im not depressed, just soooooo tired,i cant function. Is anyone else like this in the final weeks?
Over and out.Goodnight girls.xx
-
Yes, I'm in a semi-permanant state of tiredness. I can't stand the whinging when I don't do the housework, so I've started doing it first thing when I have the energy, then it doesn't matter if I fall asleep. So after breakfast I wash up and tidy and stick dishwasher on etc, then have a nap or read with feet up or something, then I make dinner mid-morning and put it in the fridge. That way I can snore all afternoon to my hearts content if I like and he's nonethewiser. I'm not doing any shopping though, I've discovered Coles Online and its a revelation; no point making yourself more tired traipsing round shops if you don't need to. Maybe check it out? If you stick your belly out, you practically get the delivery man to put it all away for you too : )
Remembering to shower is harder for me... really ought to do that... in fact, I will strike whilst the thought is hot and go and do it now. belly rubs to all x
-
Londonmiss~I will have to check out the coles online.Especially as i wont be able to drive for 6 weeks after a c section,i will need to get food somehow.DH is taking 2-3 weeks off starting from the day bub arrives (23rd July) so he can help then, but then i will be left to fend for myself. Showering is getting difficult..i need to get DH to shave my legs for me when he comes home on the weekends!! I hate to think what other parts,i cant see or reach, look like.Must be a forest down there.:o
Well its not long now for you.How exciting.I keep having dreams that my "girl" baby is a boy.Its driving me insane. It must be my subconscious fear that i will have a boy after having spent well over $1500 on a girl...nursery,clothes,pink bath, fluffy rug, crystal drawer handles etc etc. Have you got your names sorted? Didnt you like Dannii Minogues name choice? I thought it was nice.I LOVE the name Edward. My chosen name for our daughter starts with an E. I like normal, classic, feminine names for girls and for boys something unique for a first name mixed with a classic, masculine name for a middle.Just my thoughts. My cousin has a boy named Brayden and i have a cousin named Jayden..both which are names i would definately have last on my lists.Apart from those names there arent too many i dont like.Oh,i dont like 'hippy'names for girls....yuck!! I never comment on peoples name choices though...i keep it to myself.LOL.
Lise~Your son is simply beautiful.I hope my bub has gorgeous hair like yours.I love dark hair.I worry about having a completely bald baby! Not a fan of baldies, and i havnt had indigestion so maybe mine will be bald.Lucky i have bought lots of hats!! LOL.
Hoping everyone is doing well.im still trying to function like a normal human being.Have to try and do some more sculpting today before bub arrives as i wont have time to afterwards and im sure DH will start whingeing about that too!!
-
LOL - yes I'm pretty much working off a list of names that (unintentionally) have been used for British monarchs, and if any american rapper has used it, it's instantly disregarded : ) I love the name Edward, but DH rumbled me and realised I like it in part because of Twilight so I'm afraid he's scrubbed it off. Just been on the phone to a friend due 10 days after me and she's going to be induced before me. I think I am still going to be pregnant in 2013 and have been confused with an elephant's gestation period. I'm going to distract myself by baking a cake... any inspiration or recipes welcome.... ?
-
Londonmiss~Your so funny...elephants gestation? You will have your bub before you know it. :)
Edward is my fathers name and therefore my son's middle name.I have a obsession with french names. My father was english(born in bristol),my mum is australian and we have welsh, french blood too.So english and french names are my favs.
Enjoy the cake.I had a craving for vanilla cake batter last week, but of course didnt make it or eat it.I sat down with 2 slurpees instead which was a huge mistake. The sugar rush was sickening!

Elephants take 22 months!!! I could still be in this thread in 13 months time.....

Leabie i bought two Bonds maternity bras (very comfy) early on, by your stage im sure as i had a big surge and my normal bras were very uncomfortable. I made sure they fit well but with some room to grow. And funnily enough i have been able to wear them till now. I found i havent had any huge growth since.
wantbaby#2 59Kg that is amazing. I was more than that when i started! I like what you said about no more weight after 35 weeks. I was under the impression that you continue to put on upto 500g a week. As for being tired, yep me too. I always feel like a nap around 10.30am and then again around 3pm but unfortunately im still working away so its not an option. I too have DH shave my legs but as for other areas, i leave that to the waxing ladies at the salon.
LondonMiss can you imagine having the gestation period of an elephant?! OMG we would die!
By the way, did someone say cake?? Mmmmmmmmmmm
-
Big thanks to LondonMiss, Brunette, Paula & Leabie for your reassurance about cramping, i am feeling a lot less worried now and taking it as a good sign that things are happening as they should in my tummy!!
Wow quite a few of you here about to meet their bubs real soon...how exciting!!
Talking about weight gain - i have put on about 4kg since i started ivf 4 years ago and i just could never shake it again. I am only 6 wks pg now and my belly looks like its about 4 mths! (maybe i'm still bloated from the last cycle?) TBH, i wouldn't care if i was the size of a house after this pregnancy as long as this bub arrives safe & sound i dont care how fat i get!
Thanks again for your support, its so lovely to relate to others who understand with all that we have gone through to get to this point.
Have a good day everyone xxx

Hello all,
Thanks for all your congrats and good wishes re Finn! We've been home a couple of days now and he is just so good - we have to wake him for most feeds! I do wonder how long this will last though, i'm sure I can't be this lucky for too much longer... ;)
So I thought i'd write a bit about his birth if anyone is interested in the details - skip to the next paragraph if not!
As you know I saw my OB on Tuesday last week and she did an internal - I was 4cm dilated and my cervix was looking favourable so she did a membrane sweep around 2ish (which hurt quite a bit I have to say, way worse than a pap smear) but otherwise I was still booked in for 8am Thursday to have my waters broken. About 8pm I noticed I was cramping (just like period pain) every 10 mins, nothing painful and certainly tolerable. I tried to go to sleep around 10:30 but they were too strong for sleeping though still not hurting. By midnight they were 5 mins apart and I had to start using some pain relief options - the bath, fitball, massage etc. I called the hospital and they said to call again around 3 mins apart or when the pain was too much. By 3am the contractions were painful and I thought I might need some more help so we called the hospital again and were there around 3:30. When they did the internal I was 7cm dilated, so I had a bath but I have to say that it really didn't do much for me by that stage. I had some gas which helped a bit but after a bit I asked for some pethidine also, which (at least temporarily!) was just bliss! By around 7am I felt like I needed to do a big poo with each contraction so they did another internal and I was fully dilated though the baby still hadn't engaged. I was really hurting at this stage so they broke my waters around 7:45 and I immediately went into full on labour - contractions just one after the other and so so intense. By this stage the pethidine had worn off and it was too late for any other drugs so I had to do the second stage drug free - quite a challenge (well for me anyway). Because Finn still hadn't engage I had to push for what felt like hours and he still wasn't coming, so finally the OB came and we decided the vacuum was the best option, though I still had to push. Eventually at 9:30am Finn was born, with some second degree tearing. Quite an amazing experience, though I won't lie and say it didn't hurt i'd certainly go back for more if it meant another gorgeous baby like Finn. I'm so completely overwhelmed by how much I love him already, I thought I knew how much I would love him before he was born but i'm still surprised.
Anyway, enough of me - just wanted to say that although I won't really post in here on a regular basis now i'll still be be lurking and popping my head in to see how everyone is going. I can't believe that in a few more weeks we'll have even more babies, so so exciting :D Sending big labour vibes to everyone close and belly rubs to everyone else xx

Oh LISE~ You bring tears to my eyes.Your story is so inspirational and you have done sooooo well.Im so happy that he is your world and that you love him soooo much already.Judging by the pics,he is definately one to steal your heart. I wish you all the best. You were so exhausted and over it all,by the end and to hear how happy you are is just wonderful.Keep in touch in here.Looking forward to seeing more of Finn on fb.xoxox

Lise, wow is all I can say about your birthing experience. You nearly made me cry, too! (Although TBH that's not hard in my hormonal state ATM hee hee).
Leabie, I also bought a maternity bra quite early on. Let me think ... I must have bought two at least a month ago, maybe more. My boobs have gone up a cup size and did so quite early, such that I couldn't fit into my normal bras, all of which were underwire and apparently not recommended while PG. My boobs have been sore all throughout my PG. Funnily enough, I thought soreness in the boobs was just an early PG sign. How wrong I was!
Wantbaby2, I agree with Paula, to be 59ks after gaining 14 ks, you must have been soooo tiny to begin with! Not long to go now, hey? How funny your mind playing tricks on you re the sex of the baby. FX it is a girl so you don't have to buy new baby boy clothes etc!
LM, as always, you have managed to make me laugh with your elephant gestation comment. Love it! Hope that with 3 of the 5 prelabour signs you are not too far away from meeting your precious little bundle. How do you feel about banana cake? I'm going to make one this weekend with citrus frosting. Yummo!
Juniper, I've seen the rooms at the Mater as my DH's sister recently gave birth to her second child there. They are really nice.
Paula, FX you get a good night's sleep tonight. I have been going to bed exhausted and really early but waking up extremely early - like 2 am or 4 am and not being able to get back to sleep. I agree with you that it's very cruel since we'll not be sleeping well for years to come, no doubt. I think it is mother nature preparing us, but it is very cruel and wrong!
-
lise thanks for sharing your birth story with us. You did such an amazing job! I am loving all the photos of your stunning little boy on fb. Keep them coming :D
Hope everyone is travelling along nicely! :hello:
-
Hi all
Lise - thanks for sharing your experience. What a good little boy it sounds like you have, i hope that lasts a little bit longer for you.
Leabie - I have been wearing maternity bras since about 9 weeks. I have size 12DD boobs without being pregnant so i was finding the underwire was cutting in way too much. I agree with paula i but the bonds maternity bras and the singlets with the built in bras and have found them the most comfortable.
Yogibear - sorry im a bit late but i also had the weird cramping early on in my pregnancy. this may sound weird but after awhile and especially now when i get cramping (feels more like stretching) i know why, it usually happens on 1 or 2 days a week so i figure that is when the baby does its growing.
Londonmiss - so glad we are not elephants:lol:Good luck with everything i hope you don't have to wait too much longer!
wantbaby - GL with your scultping!!! It really sucks to have to think about that sort of stuff sometimes!
Paula - Hope you have been sleepping a little better. I get tired now after a full day, i can only imagine how tired you must be feeling. Not much longer to go now!!
Brunette - How are the twins luv? I have put on 2-3kilos since finding out. I put that down to having days where i can't eat cause of MS and then on the days i can all i want is hot chips with lots of salt!!!
CK77 - have you felt bub move yet?
Hello to all the other beautiful ladies i have missed today hope you are all well;)
AFM - back from my relaxing week but still have the rest of the week off cause of school holidays! My tummy is just strating to pop :dance:and depending on what i wear some days i actually look pregnant not just fat!! The MS is still sticking around, i think i will be one of those people who have to deal with it all the way through, i do get about 4 days in a row where i am pretty good then it build to a day where i can't get out of bed! My girlfriend had a little girl on tuesday and i'm off to visit her today, it has made me want time to go a little bit faster so we can meet our little bundle. There are so many sales at the moment but since we are not going to find out the sex of the baby there is very little to buy, everything is either blue or pink. I already have a fair bit of white. Have a lovely day:D

Hello all. Sorry for what will be a me-post... well still here and still running to elephant time. Had an obs visit yesterday and am pleased to report I won a bit of a discussion with her. One downside of the public system is getting different obs, but frankly, I'm glad I only had her once - she just really ruffled me. I don't know if I mentioned some time ago when I was 28ish weeks I had a commercial scan - you know, nothing useful just pretty pics for my mother in law. At the time, the lady said, "I'm sure it's nothing, but you have three fibroids, one is quite big you might want to mention it to your doc to investigate". I knew I'd had a couple when doing IUI so it wasn't a surprise. I've mentioned this fact at my last three midwife meetings, but they've seemed v unbothered about it. Yesterday's ob says "well where is this alleged fibroid, is it anywhere important?" I don't know I said, I'm an energy consultant not a doctor... She went off on one about these commercial places giving you bad news and not providing reports and so on. I said, I appreciate all of that, but al they did was draw my attention to it, and leave it up to you if you want to investigate it (personally I thought they handled it rather well but anyway). So the doc said "I'm sure you don't have a fibroid". So, I'm afraid I got rather shirty, and said "well of course thats your call, your the doctor, if you are sure it's nowhere important then lets pretend I never mentioned it". She looked completely flummoxed and said, "but are you sure you don't know where it is", and I said, again, not my job: either it worries you or it doesn't, it's' not up to me to make that call. Then she felt my belly and said I had a two centimetre one. She asked if I agreed, and I said no, I saw one with my own eyes that was considerably bigger on the 28 week scan but if she was absolutely sure, then I was happy to go with her judgement. Then she looked more panicy, and sent me for a scan. Where I am pleased to report (well kind of) that there was a 2x4 cm fibroid and a 10x 7cm one AS I BLOODY WELL SAID!!! Thank fully they are on the top and it doesnt' matter, but it could have made a big difference if it was in the way of the cervix so I'm so glad I pushed her on it.
What really irritates me is that I clarified that situation because I can speak good english, am well read and can articulate my requirements. What if she'd pulled that "doctor knows best" crap on a 18 year old girl just arrived from India and unable to commuicate her needs ??? It really annoys me that sometimes you have to push back. Yes, I don't have a medical degree, and yes I'm sure that LTTTCers who think they know more about the reproductive system than a doctor are deeply and profoundly irritating to them but come on! Anyway, alls well that ends well. I am engaged and it is apparently up to my own body to start something off now... so I might be right, I might be still here in 2014!!!!
Nothing more to report really. Hope you are all travelling well and going ok. Sorry for the lack of persies. xxx
-
Lise - sorry I did mean to add thank you so much for the birth story. I find them so useful for the mental preparation... I hope you and Finn are doing well xx
-
Renee shame about your MS at least you do get some relief days though. I have a lady in my belly buddies thread who has had severe MS her whole pregnancy and is even being induced early because its that bad. Had some weeks were she lost over 4kg the poor thing! MS can be really nasty. Hopefully yours clears up soon for you. Yay on the belly popping out! Always good to finally look pregnant and not just fat.. LOL :D
LondonMiss good on you for standing up to that woman!! I wish i could do that but at times i fall into the "He is the Dr so he must know best" category which i know is totally wrong but i just struggle to speak my mind at times and stand up for myself, in general not with the pregnancy etc. I looked at your ticker and got so excited for you... One day left! Although you dont feel like things are progressing its got to be a nice feeling to reach that due date and know that the end is definitely near.
Been feeling very ouchie on my back last few days which is no fun but taking it all in my stride and just enjoying counting down the days! I have come to realise after being asked so many time "Are you getting scared?" that im not so much scared about the pain of giving birth because as i see it, its for a good cause and i have wanted this baby for soooo long that to go through that knowing that she is arriving any minute is nothing. What is scaring me is the pain afterwards. For example stitches from tearing or possible episotomy or if i have a caesarean, the scar and healing time etc. Anyone else have views regarding being scared etc?
