thanks everyone for the advice- it's great to hear your thoughts.
bec- woohooo- great news... you have to celebrate all the milestones i think. My clinic likes progesterone to be over 30, so looking good. mine is very high this time...at last test it was 550, much higher than in previous pregnancies.
afm- just had BT this morning, results in around lunchtime. pretty nervous. also very tired and feel a bit off, which i hope are good signs!
-
Bec, great news about the follow-up b/w results! Anything over 50 for progesterone is great and over 30 is good. :)
Possums, my progesterone was like that - 620 for first test, then 460 for the second. The receptionist described it as "through the roof". FX for today's results!
-
Juniper - did those high levels make you feel very very bloated etc...I certainly am!
-
Good luck Possums for BT today - and by the way it is so GREAT to see you in this thread xxx

OMG! So wonderful to see so many new faces in here! A huge welcome to Possums, becnxavi, dreamrise659, Yogi Bear, Kaybee, and anyone I've missed! (Apologies if I've welcomed you twice too, my baby brain is shocking right now... )
I hope you're all feeling ok, and that these first few weeks pass quickly for you. I remember all too well the anxiety of the first trimester, my advice is to just do whatever you can to get through it! I always stuck to the motto PUPO - pregnant until proven otherwise, and used the principle of distraction to make time pass. Hope all your little embies are nice and snug and settled in for the next 8 months.
Renee - I've got everything crossed for you sweetie, hope that you're in hospital right now, or if not, then the midwives have come up with a plan of action that starts NOW! I've got a few days left in me before I crack it, I reckon. I've got acupuncture booked for bub's due date, I'll be getting as many needles as I can stuck into me to get this thing out! Hehe.
Possums - my late 2 cents worth - I felt AWESOME at 23 weeks! We went on our babymoon at 28 weeks and I still felt good then, but a week or so later I started to slow down. Its a great idea to try and get away for a little holiday if you can.
Airline - bummer about the varicose veins, hopefully they'll subside after bub comes? Had to laugh at your weird dreams, have been having a few too. Dreamt that I handed my baby to someone at the hospital, who then handed it to Colin Firth (Mr Darcy) who took it away on holidays for a week!? What the?!
KellyD - hope the PUPPS has cleared up, how very annoying it must be! You poor thing. YAY for passing the half way mark though!
Lairdoz - how's your dodgy hip going, luv? Hope its not giving you too much grief. Braxton Hicks already, and head down sounds good for an induction!
MaggiePie - great to hear from you, boy you've had a busy time of late! You must be exhausted. Hope you've been looking after yourself amongst it all.
Juniper - had to laugh about what your mum said about the shoulders being the problem... never thought so much about that, always been stressing about the head circumference. Hopefully this bub doesn't have its daddy's shoulders (or mine for that matter.... uh-oh... starting to worry!)
A huge HI :hello: and Happy New Year to everyone I've missed. Its so hectic in here now, I've got no chance of keeping up!
AFM - everything is plodding along this end, bub has moved down slightly from last week, but doesn't seem to be in a big hurry. As I said earlier though, I'm placing all my faith in my acupuncturist to get the party started, so to speak :D Can't remember who asked me about the Epi-No, but I've been using it, and although its a little awkward and a bit painful, I think its great. MUCH better than getting DH to do it, and there's no way I could do the massage myself! :shakehead: The proof will be in the pudding though... eek! Trying not to think about it too much.
Have a great day everyone! Bellyrubs to all.
-
leabie- hope your acupuncturist can get things going for you! wow, you are nearly there. Your advice about PUPO is good- I will try and think that way.
janie- thanks for your wishes xx
airline- i guess our subconscious minds play at all kinds of things in our dreams! sorry about the varicose veins ...I hope also they fade down the track
afm: Yay, today's blood test results, show that at 6 weeks and 2 days:
HCG: 19,050 (up from 3900 a week ago)
Prog: 516 (550 a week ago- and from today I am now totally off the crinone)
DH and I are very relieved and happy.
Week at a time...

Possums, yes, I was very bloated until about 10wks. I bought maternity pants to wear to work as soon as we had the first scan and saw the HB. I'd been wearing my jeans to work for 2 weeks by that point because I couldn't fit in my work pants. Lol, then when the bloating went away, I had to take in the maternity pants (luckily they were adjustable both ways). Great news on today's result! I tried to just take it one day at a time too. Do you have a scan booked for next week?
Jaki, sorry to hear you were caught by the flooding and also about the GD. :( I hope the diet works well for you so you don't need the insulin.
-
Possums - FABULOUS news!!! HUGE congrats :) I also was very bloated for both my pregnancies and had progesterone until I was about 10 weeks. I have normally a pretty low BMI and I looked pregnant from about 5-11 weeks, then went back to normal.
Jaki - sorry to hear about GD, I hope it is easily managed and once you are used to not having sugar, your body will thank you for it :)
Hope that Renee is sitting pretty with her new bub and you other lovelies so close to having your bublets get your reward (safely arriving!) very soon!
Just a quick one tonight - so happy to see all the new faces as it has been faaaarrrrrr too long!

Sorry Lairdoz i am still not holding baby!!!
Ok I am still pregnant!!! Doc did an S&S yesterday morning and i am 1 cm dilated (only 9 to go lol!!!!) She could feel the babies head (i could have told her it was there!!). Basically they have a protocol they follow for overdue babies. I have an ultrasound and CTG on sat to check bub and placenta and make sure everything is ok. They have put my due date back to the 1st Jan so technically i am only 5 days over now GRRRRRR!!!!! They will only let me go 13 over so either way i have to have had bub by end of next week! I am just so frustrated!! I know it is so much better for my body to do things naturally. I am just so jealous of everyone and want to hold my baby (can you tell i am also emotional!!). Have had my show yesterday so hopefully something happens over weekend!
Leabie, GL luv you will probably be holding your bub before me!!!
-
Renee- hang in there! I really hope you are holding your baby very soon- not long to go! sending you all the best
jaki- hello... sorry to hear about the GD...good luck getting a management plan sorted out
juniper and lairdoz- thanks for making me feel more normal about my bloated tummy...I am a small person, and my tummy is sticking right out making me look more pregnant than I am...and yep, tight work pants are out at the moment...I am wearing stretchy skirts etc. lol From your experiences, sounds like my tummy might go away again before I actually get a baby bump

Hi everyone,
Just wondered for those of you who already have a child but had a lot of difficulty conceiving this pregnancy - do you feel a bit more protective of your other child now?
My daughter is 14. I conceived her naturally (by accident whilst using contraception) and it has always been just the two of us. I've always been reasonably protective of her but not over the top.
My daughter was going to go with my housemate for a trip tomorrow (most of the day in the car doing various errands and then to my housemates mums' 70th birthday that night only coming home around 1am after 15 hours out tripping around). Last night I suddenly got a really bad feeling about it and told them both that I thought it better my daughter didn't go. I made up a story about the heat and me wanting my daughter to help with a few things... however the truth is I suddenly got scared what if they had a car accident. My housemate is quite a careful driver but her car is not really road worthy (I'd hate to see the passenger if it was involved in an accident) so I had offered her a loan of my car. But I thought what if something happened and it wasn't even like my daughter needed to be there. How would I feel.
Last night I suddenly felt like maybe I'm only meant to have one child and maybe now that I'm finally pregnant something will happen to my daughter. I know that sounds stupid and I'm putting it down to the fact it has taken so long to concieve this one.
So I wondered if any one else has experienced anything similar? Or am I the only one developing paranoia!!!!

Yogi, I am so glad you're back in here! Thinking of you.
Possums, great news!! So thrilled to hear it!

Renee, just hoping it all starts to progress very very soon!
Jaki, sorry about GD. My mum had it with my youngest brother and he is now the fittest person around, and my mum went back to normal afterwards too. She just needed to maintain her blood sugar levels on an even keel - small meals, and such. Tell us what they advise you, I'm curious.
Leabie, thanks for the info on the Epi-No. It was me who had asked. I've been trying the perineal massage and frankly it has been farcical. I nearly dislocated both shoulders trying to reach this area with the thumbs (!) as instructed. I actually ended up with spasms in my arms. Now I've found a better possie for it (I also don't want DH involved in something so practical and basically uncomfortable). I think I have short arms or something. Anyway, it feels pretty silly.
Airline, the ending of season 4 of Dexter just totally floored me (and my family). There was a lot of outcry from the fans. The writers said they'd written themselves into a corner. I thought it was a brilliant season. I didn't think much of the current one though.
AFM, well, I had another leg cramp last night. I was a bit teary and scared of going back to sleep but sleep just happened, and I lived to see another day! Let's hope I don't get worked up again tonight.
Oh and Dreamrise, I wanted to say that what you've described about your daughter, these feelings of anxiety ... well, for one thing, they don't sound that over-protective or even paranoid to me. I mean, I am a very cautious person though. I wouldn't want my kid in a non-roadworthy car, even with a good driver.
But in any case, those thoughts like "maybe I'm only meant to have one child" and those more irrational fears - well, I think that is so totally understandable in the circumstances. For instance, something similar, everytime I felt annoyed at being sick or say with these cramps, I would think "now you'll lose the baby because you're ungrateful". Not rational. Not helpful. But pretty standard. Still, if you can chat with a helpful person or counsellor, then do it.
Take care all,
WW

G'day ladies, and big thanks to you all for your lovely welcomes!! :grouphug: Must admit its nice to be back here again, but i'm still nervous about it at the same time
Renee - thinking of you and cant wait to hear of your bubs safe arrival. Not long now, hang in there xx
Possums - great results!! now you can relax a little. AHHh such a nerve-wracking time, i wish i could just sleep till after the 12 week scan!! I'm also feeling very bloated lately, but i'm also on prednisolone and that can make you "puff-up" a bit. I think i'm meant to stay on it til 12 weeks so god knows what i'll look like then, probably look ready to give birth!!
dreamrise - I dont have any children yet but i can imagine that protective feeling. I think if this bub does make it, after the journey to finally have them, i wont let them out of my sight!!! Just means you are a loving mother and certainly DOESN'T mean you are only meant to have just one child.
To answer your questions about my previous m/c i'll be brief cause i dont really want to talk about it on a pregnancy thread...but just to give you my history. 1st m/c was a blighted ovum, no bub or heartbeat seen at 7 weeks scan & i had D&C at 9 weeks, 2nd was a missed m/c saw good h/b at 7 wks then decided to have no more scans til 13 wks, but started bleeding 2 days before 13wk scan & was in hospital for 2 nights as i had an infection cause bub had passed away at about 8 weeks. 3rd m/c was early at 5 wks and last one in aug had good h/b at 7 weeks, then wanted weekly scans (after the last missed m/c) but at 8 wks no h/b & in hospital again for D&C.
....needless to say i'm very very cautious & nervous about this one!! its really hard to trust my body. But in saying that i also feel that my body "wants" to be pregnant, i've done 4 ivf cycles in the last 2 years and have fallen pg each time...so i guess something is trying really hard. This is what has kept me going i think, knowing that i CAN fall pg relatively easily (well, "easy" in the ivf world) i just keep thinking "surely we have to be lucky eventually"!! Also i'm on all the drugs & goodies possible to help things along so i think if it still doesnt work this time then there is nothing else to try...this is it!!
I'm 5 wks today. Haven't booked my scan yet...thats how unconfident i am! i even did another HPT this afternoon just to make sure the line was still there...of course its really dark and no indication of how levels are going but its just that silly voice that doubts that a pregnancy can actually happen. i will always now marvel at the miracle of life, how a little baby can grow from just a few cells....its a bl00dy HUGE job, i just hope I can really do a good job this time :crossfingers::crossfingers::crossfingers:
Sorry for the blab there...thats me anyway, i'm hoping you kind ladies here can help keep me reasonably sane over the coming weeks...i hope i dont drive you all crazy with my worrying!!
Have a great night
Yogi xx

My heart goes out to you Yogi Bear, all of my m/c have been early, and that's been hard enough. I REALLy hope your little bean is a sticky. I'm 5 weeks tomorrow, so we are close together in due dates!
Has anyone else who's newly pg been POAS constantly? I think I'm obsessed. I just keep doing it every day delighting in the line getting darker! Oh dear, that looks worse now I've typed it! I have them all lined up so I can see my progress!
Hope everyone is well!
Bec

Thanks Bec. Ha ha I'm exactly the same with the hpts!!! praying that the line is still there and darker than before. Are we both crazy or is that normal??!!
