Hey ladies thanks for that it makes me feel better to know im not the only one! im going to the dr tomorrow just to make sure its ok as iv also discovered (putting pessaries in) that i have a lump inside there too on the wall and its quiet big so im unsure if thats normal but am so hoping it is!

TMI warning... I'm wondering if any of you have had thrush and how long it took to clear up? I've never had thrush before but yesterday I started getting the most incredible itching and burning down there. I went to the Dr today and she took a swab to confirm but said she thinks it is thrush (which is apparently common in pregnancy) and I'll find out for sure in a few days. In the meantime I am on canestan cream. Dr said I can't take the tablets bc they aren't safe in pregnancy. I can't believe how much it hurts... I've been struggling to not cry from the pain. Apparently it is extremely red an swollen down there - though no discharge.
So anyone who has had thrush before is it always this painful and how long did it take for the cream to take the pain away?

DR: Ouchy is all I can say. I'm lucky to have never sufferred from it but it is very prevelant in pregnant women. All I can say is NATURAL YOGURT, doesn't sound appealing but it helps and is soothing as well. I hope it clears up soon for you.

dreamrise - oh no, I had thrush with DD1 and I didn't know what it was for ages but was terribly painful!!! I found the cream cleared it up really quickly, a few days maybe until it eased and then a few more til it was completely gone. With my last few pregnancies I have been drinking cranberry juice (bitter at first but am used to it now) and haven't had any since. I know the cranberry is good for keeping urinary tract infections away but not sure if it helps thrush? Hope it clears up quickly though!
possums - hope your scan goes well tomorrow (i think?) and you enjoy seeing bub!

Kaybee - I know, not at that nice round baby looking tummy stage yet just the tubby tummy kind of stage. Hope you feel some more kicks soon, so reassuring when they are moving!

Oneday - I forgot to mention I also get the stabbing pains intermittently too! But nothing too serious and they wore off after a few weeks. Hope your appointment goes well....
Nothing new for me just excited/nervous about scan on Friday - but now am feeling more nauseated again and have had an upset stomach after eating.....I'm still freaked out about everything I eat! I'm desperate for chinese but too frightened. Does anyone have any foods that they avoid (apart from the obvious listeria foods listed on all the government websites)?

Amy how far are you? Im the same with food i went to my brother in laws wedding on the weekend and it was all finger food, prawns, oysters, and lots of other unsafe foods so my DH asked them to make me some hot chips as i was too paranoid to eat anything, i think everyone thinks im over reacting but im not risking it.

Hope all the girls who are having scans soon get good news from them. Mine is still 2 weeks away.
Kelly - glad to hear the twins are still hanging in there. How many more days before you can relax and know that if they come they will still be ok to be born at Ballarat? A friend of a friend is currently pregnant (was due 2 days ago). She lives in Bacchus Marsh but apparently as she is a very large woman she was told to go to Ballarat for the birth as the nearest hospital could not handle it as she is considered higher risk. My friend (who lives in Ballarat) has been anxiously waiting by the phone to hear when she goes into labour and is excited that she will be coming here to give birth.
AFM: I'm still a little sore and itchy down there but it has cleared up heaps. I'm so relieved. Hopefully by tomorrow I will be pretty much back to normal. I was also told yoghurt is a good idea so will try to buy some more today (had some last night and this morning). I have today off work as I told the mother of the kids I look after that I was sick and couldn't have them. She acted ****ed off with me and tried to pressure me to have the kids (without even knowing what was wrong with me - I mean for all she knows it could have been something contagious and would she really want to risk her kids getting sick!!! she never even asked me what was wrong). I told her I was in alot of pain so not only was it not good for me it wasn't good for the kids to see me in pain - I told her that her son had noticed me wincing in pain a couple of times on Monday and asked "why do you have that funny look on your face" and I just told him I was feeling a little bit sick. And I thought I had done such a good job of hiding how much pain I was in. I didn't know how long it would take to feel better so thought it best to not work Tuesday. I rang her as soon as I got out of the Dr's (2.30 Monday) so gave her as much notice as possible. This of course means I don't get paid. Anyway I'm glad I don't have the kids today as I have still had a bit of pain but think I'll be fine (or atleast able to cope) by tomorrow.
I then only have 8 days of work left.
Today my daughter is sick as well - stomach pains and felt like she wanted to vommit but hasn't. No temp or anything else so hopefully it's only a 24 hour thing.

hi girls thank you for all well wishes. transition from hospital to home was pretty bad........first 2 nights terrible the days better....floods of tears yes morning cos i'd hit brick wall with sleep deprivation, felt i shouldn't be crying cos we wanted so much. talked to friends, asked loads of qs, sms all day my bestie who has 3. came up with a plan with dh...one night and one day so far so good.
we have had a lot of laughs..not good when i have to hold my c-sec stitches each time.
at lunch, i sniggered for a minute before explaining to dh that we used to have a candle between us as we ate across the table, instead at lunch there was a breast pump! oh how life changes.
good luck to you all will pop back in when i can....if the plan goes well certainly ;-) belly rubs and cyber hugs to all. who's next???????????? much love airline xx

Hi everyone. Just popping in quickly to say my midterm scan was spot on. Everything is as it should be. We got confirmation it's a boy!!!
I'm feeling tired and unwell, just found out I have cystitis!!!! Nasty nasty cystitis. So I'm off to bed early. It's been a long day and my head is thumping!!!

MH: Huge congrats on a blue stork coming to your house, and I am feeling for you. I have a bladder issue and am prone to UTI's although "touchwood" haven't had one since my transfer. Take care and welcome to the blue bundle club.
oh MH - little boys are just devine! I would be very happy to have another little man in my life, they are just ... ooh scrumptious! congrats love!!!
airline - hard isn't it!!! I know everyone says it but you can't truly comprehend that parenthood is truly the "toughest job in the world'' til you are in the thick of it. I remember when Ash was first born I thought it a boon if i could get 20 mins sleep in btween feeding, pumping, changing, eating etc. but things do get better and before you know it you have a very cheeky 15 month old who sleeps mostly like a normal person... mostly lol. Big hugs and you are doing great!!! glad you popped back into update us!

DR - I just want to check... you said you 'had some yoghurt yesterday'... you know the yoghurt isn't for eating... it goes on your vag :) lol just the way it was worded, i wasn't sure if you were eating or ... um, slathering. Hope your girl and your girls (haha!) feel better. and same with you! what a cow of a mum you are working for there!
oneday - it's just not worth the risk. if you don't feel comfy then don't! My dad sort of questioned me with my first pregnancy when i wouldn't eat ham and pre-prepared salads he bought from the deli. I ended up sayign "yes, it's highly unlikely i would get sick from eating this food. But the consquences of me getting food poisoning are severe and i'm just not risking it". Once I explained that pretty much it's very very very bad news for me to get food poisoning although the chances were slim, he seemed to understand it better. I wouldn't worry what anyone else thinks love. The other thing i said to people was "well it took us a lot of time and effort and money to get this baby, i'm not doing anything to jeopardise that''. mmmm hot chips!
aimee - i'm trying to avoid chocolate. I'm losing. lol. I dont' like soft cheese and pate so much that i can't go without. I dont' eat anything that isn't made fresh in front of me and won't eat a woolies cooked chook. but generally stick to the guidelines. Oh and i'm not allowed to lick the bowl when DH is baking (raw egg) and absolutely won't touch anything with mayo. but I do find that most of the stuff you aren't supposed to eat, i don't like or eat anyway.... OMG i wish i'd never thought of chocolate... now i want some and i have none in the house :rolleyes:

just back from a preggy massage, got an appointment after another lady didn't show. so dh did Ash's bedtime and i got to chill for 90 mins. it was soo good!! arrggghhh. wishi i could go every week. My hips are killing me at night despite my two pillow between the knee routine.
ugh, am so huge and fat and getting very uncomfy. i just want to meet this bubba already!
MH- congratulations!!! wonderful news that all is just as it should be and how exciting to know a boy is on the way! :clap:

airline- I am sure you are doing the very best job you can just like all new mums...it sounds like such a tough job, especially right at the start...it's wonderful you have support around you...hang in there

grub- preggy massage sounds lovely!! especially at the stage you are at where the aches and pains increase
oneday- it's best to play it safe with food... in the end, who cares what people think, it's your baby. I too sometimes think people I am too cautious, but it's not their baby!

aimee- good luck for your scan friday...how many weeks is that for you? I get really upset stomach after certain foods, especially onions or anything spicey...my digestive system is so senstive right now...then I feel ill for about 3 days, with cold shivers and stomach aches!...so i try to eat plainer foods now
kelly- how are you doing? any updates? thinking of you
kaybee- hope you are well. My placenta is at the front also and I have been told I might not feel movement until 22 weeks or so...nothing so far for me. My friend who also had her placenta at the front said it was about 23 weeks before she felt clear, regular movements. Hopefully not too long until you are at that point.
afm- scan today :D excited and nervous...and hope we can see if its a boy or girl... i have heard i should maybe have something sugary beforehand??
all still seems to be going along well, and basically I am well and very happy... i walk around even on a bad day at work for example, happy on the inside.
only yuk symptoms: i get quite ill if i eat anything remotely spicey...i mean, i get severe pains, cold shivers, feel sick and it can take 2-3 days until that passes and settles down again! yesterday i had to go on a work lunch and there weren't any plain choices, so today I am feeling off, and dealing with it. ah well, all part of it i guess! also still have the sound of my heart beating through my head...hoping that will pass.

well not great news for me. I have to go for the 2 hr gd test on friday because my test from yesterday showed i was one point or level or whatever they call it over the acceptable level!! ggrrr. the midwife seems to think i don't have gd, just took a bit lnger to get rid of my porridge and sugar breakfast so fingers crossed. am feeling pretty upset cos if it cos back badly on friday i'm off the birth centre program.
Hey Grub, I remember walking into the pathology place to do my 1hr test and they sent me away coz my breakfast was a glass of Milo and a bowl or fruit and yoghurt. They said I should have known better "silly girl". I could've slapped her. Had I ever done one of those tests before? No!

thanks girls - yeah CK i felt really silly as I didn't even think about it... it's just what DS and I have for breakfast every morning! He loves his porridge and it's just easier to make some for both of us than get 2 different breakfasts iykwim.

Sorry grub but had to chuckle at you... I did my GD test at 7am so that I could get something to eat after it was done, plus DH was able to look after Tara (who was still asleep) while I had it done and I was home by 8.30am do he could then go to work..
I used it as my excuse to have Macca's breakfast on the way home yummy... I was sure I would have it this time as I had been bingeing on chocolate so much but my level came back at 7.3 which I was told is a bit on the high side of normal but nothing to worry about. I thought that number sounded o.k and my dad has type 2 diabetes (age related) and he said so long as his number I think is under 9 then it's fine..
Just woke up from a 2 hour sleep... don't know if I feel better or not. Tara was having a 2 hour nap in the morning - 11am-1pm - which was fine for her but not for me but now she has changed to 2pm-4pm which is bliss as I can get all my chores done in the morning and sleep in the afternoon. Lets see how long that lasts for shall we. Ob appt tomorrow afternoon so will hopefully have some more news then..
Possums - how exciting, I can't wait to see if you are going to add to all this blue at the moment or change the trens and add a splash of pink...
Hi ladies, just want to let you all know we are having a beautiful baby boy!!!
Everything measured perfectly at today's scan and was in all the right places and growing properly, so that was a big relief. And the sonographer said a couple of times she was pretty sure we were having a blue bundle!
Very excited and happy.
Mum and Dad came in for a look too and we got to see so much which was great! Seems more real now.

congrats possums!!! said it before and i'll say it again... little boys are just so yummy! and cute and lovely. Ash has just learnt to say car ... but says it in a very husky deep "kkkhhhaaarrr" lol and he's obsessed with animals, in particular dogs which he calls Mon-ner (our dog is cookie monster lol). he loves rough and tumble with DH and all that boy stuff... like hammering and 'helping' daddy... in fact he loves his daddy and his poppy so so so very muhc it's gorgeous. He likes to know how things works and is always alway always exploring his world. Little boys are wonderful.
ps I'm pretty sure little girls are fantastic too... lol.
Congrats Possums, wow so many boys in this thread at the moment what with Jaki & Airline having little boys and now you & MH. So fantastic that your parents got to have a look as well it will really seem real now...
With all this blue around Grub it will be interesting to see if it is you who breaks the run and has the pink bundle...

congrats girls on finding out your expecting boys!!!!! thats great :) There is kind of a thing going on at work to see what me and the latest girl preg are having there is 8 of us in total that are preg, 4 are boys so far and there is 2 girls so we are thinking how wierd would it be if me and the other girl have girls :) then there will be 4 girls and 4 boys.
Possums thanks for asking about my DR appointment, well stupid me went and she checked it out and said its completely normal and has always been there and every woman has it she reffered to it as i ridge?? so i was pretty embarrased lol she said the little pains would be everything stretching and she said not to worry about my bouts of diarrhea as it wont harm the baby at all, she told me to drink metamucil for the constipation so hopefully that helps. 6 more daystill the scan and i just can wait, a bit nervous too as always. Everyday i wake up i still cant believe im pg, i feel so lucky even after my unfair journey i just feel so blessed as i really thought it was never going to happen.
lol oneday, I'm really sorry but i had to giggle just a wee bit at your doc appointment. i bet you felt silly, but don't everything sort of swells and grows down there when preg so it probably felt different than usual. Not that i'm dilly dallying down there myself very much mind you lol but you get a 'feel' for things when using tampons and such iykwim. OH dear, now i've come off sounding like some sort of nympho porn star! ah well.
yeah Kelly I still have girl vibes. I mean i won't be surprised if it was a boy but I've always felt really strongly it is a little pinky (we call it pinky)... but not confident enough to buy anything to try to decorate lol.
I have an old chest of drawers I want to paint white and cover with stickers... i'm just waiting for bub to arrive. If it's a girl I'm going to cover it with thses lovely Frenchy art deco stickers i found in spotlight... a black and white theme. If it's a boy, I was thinking of trying to get black contact and 'making' zebra stripes but not sure if i have the patience for that lol.
Possus -well done. Boys boys everywhere. We got a good shot of the anatomy which the radiographer blew up and typed the words "It's a Big Boy" underneath. So we got to bring that home with us. Oneday - so hard not to be paranoid about everything. Thank god for these forums to keep us all sane and help us laugh when we need too.
AFM - feeling slightly better. I think I had lost a lot of sleep leading up to yesterdays scan which probably didn't help me either. And so now I am trying to move from cautious to excited and allow myself to relax into the pregnancy more. Phew! 21 more weeks to go. Feels like forever yet not much time at all.

Possums - a little boy... congrats. I'm curious because you said the sonographer said a number of times that she was "pretty sure it was a boy". Did she end up saying for sure that it is a boy or only pretty sure? When I was pregnant with my daughter the first sonographer said "It's a boy. I think it's a boy." the next sonographer (4 weeks later) told me "It's definately a girl. No doubt about it." When I said the previous person had told me it was a boy he showed me the screen and pointed out her 2 legs and said "what can you see hear" (pointing between the legs). I actually couldn't make out anything on the screen so said "nothing" and he said "exactly my point. She has nothing between her legs".
I'm waiting to have my scan at 20 weeks because there is a greater chance of accuracy.
AFM: Thursh is clearing up well. Still a little sore but not in pain. Had the kids again today. The mum rang me yesterday evening to check that I could have the kids and asked me straight out "So what was wrong?" I felt like I couldn't say "thats private" so I told her it appears to be thrush and as I'd never had it before I had no idea how painful it could be. She said "oh I had that with all my pregnancies" and I felt like she was implying that it was no big deal and I had carried on about nothing. Afterwards I told my housemate about it and said maybe if I wasn't one of these people who never takes pain killers unless I'm just about dying and rarely go to the Dr's etc I would have got onto it on Saturday or Sunday and started treatment so it wouldn't have ended up getting so bad... but on Sunday I still thought if I just gave it a few more hours it might go away. Stupid me. I guess atleast if I ever get it again I will know what to expect and will get onto treatment ASAP so it will hopefully never get this bad again.

Grub - I agree about the boys! I have little girls who are gorgeous, but have several nephews and they are adorable and lots of fun too! Yes I was warned about the chickens too - I ate them with my other pregnancies though only hot and fresh as suggested and not left overs, but this time I'm a paranoid mess. Do you avoid all mayonnaise or just the raw egg ones. I was told the ones in the pantry section of the supermarket are ok as they have been heat treated, but I always get confused and would rather play it safe. I've had food poisoning too any times and I think I'm scared of listeria in case I don't know I have it.
Oneday - Oh are you still on crinone - I find that stuff confuses everything - along with all the growing and extra bloodflow? I can definitely understand eating hot chips (yum, comforting too) and avoiding the other foods, I think I've moved onto the paranoid stage now and am wary of almost anything and everything borderline! Hope your scan goes well I've been counting down the days til mine as well.

My two poor little chickens have been feverish (DD1 was over 39 :() yesterday and today, only a virus dr said but I hate temperatures, esp during the night, hopefully they will wake up perfectly fine tomorrow. We only just got over our last virus.

Just bought my first maternity bra. Probably should have done this weeks ago. So much fun! Pop the clasp and HELLO!!! I'm sure it will provide DH with hours of fun leading up to the birth......................................
omg MH don't show your DH how to work it - you won't get a moments peace. Mine thinks its free reign on my boobs... the nursing singlets are the worst!!! But never fear, you can get bras with magnetic clasps that are extremely discreet... lol so my dh has cottoned onto those bras yet, he thinks they are "those crappy normal bras''... mmmwwwaaahhh.
men! lol i keep telling my DH my boobies haven't grown for his enjoyment... If you really want to illicit a tormented look from your partner tell them "they are the baby's boobies now, not yours". Haahahahaahaha
O.K Girls I'm back from my Ob appt and my head is a little bit in a spin....
Twin A has definately dropped and is supposed 4/5th engaged (will get confirmation at my scan next week along with cervical length) and Twin B is in a nice breech position with his bum planted under my hip. So anyway my Ob has told me we are now in the safe zone to stay in Ballarat in the twins deliver early so anytime between 32 - 35 weeks the only way the boys will be delivered is if I go in to labour (which I expected) however he has told me that if I turn up at hospital like 8cm dialated then we will proceed with a VB as there wouldn't be enough time to do a c/s. He said this is because the boys would be premmies then things will happen faster and will "slip out". FREAK a VB has never entered my thinking at all and as I didn't go into labour with DD this is all new to me.... Once we have hit 35 weeks then we will start looking at c/s options but the next 3 weeks i'm going to be on tenterhooks as with Twin b being breech this means anything could happen if I VB Twin A.
Anyway I better get some food into me or these boys are going to start going crazy..

Talking about being paranoid about your health and avoiding things during pregnancy etc... well I just found out something else we can't use during pregnancy!!! Cold Sore Creams!!!! I tend to get coldsores when I get stressed. I'm used to noticing the tingling feeling and starting treatment straight away so they don't come up or clear up quickly. Well today I felt that all familar tingling and went to the bathroom and discovered I had no cold sore cream left (as it turns out this was a blessing in disguise). I went to the chemist after work to buy some more. Was in the process of paying for it when I mentioned to the sales person that I was currently being treated for thrush and wondered if the two things could be connected or if it was just a coincidence. She asked if I'd taken antibiotics recently and when I said no she said "they can both be cause by being run down". I then said "I'm pregnant so I've been told that thrush is common in pregnancy". She then said "Oh, you're pregnant? You can't use this then." I asked if there was anything else I could use (meaning any other brand or whatever) and she said you can't use cold sore creams during pregnancy at all. The best she could suggest is to wipe it with tea tree oil to help prevent any other infections.
I'm so glad I mentioned the thrush or I would have bought the cream without thinking... though I noticed on the packet afterwards that there was warning not to use if you are or could be pregnant so hopefully I would have read that when I got home and not used it.
Anyway just thought I should mention it in case anyone else suffers from coldsores. I've been told all I can do is let the cold sore run it's course... I have a feeling it's going to be a huge one right in the middle of my top lip! Great!!!

I think we posted at the same time. I can understand you being a little freaked about a vaginal birth with the twins... especially if one might be breech. Hopefully they hang in long enough for you to look at the c/s options.
My brothers last child was breech and although the labour was fairly fast and ok the baby had to be in special care unit for a couple of days because he had swallowed some of the m***** (can't remember how to spell it). Anyway he had to have suction etc but as I said all ended up okay. He was quite small so didn't have alot of problems actually coming out.
One of my friends had a son born breech too but he got stuck and his bottom ended up grinding on his mothers pelvic bone area so much that it scraped away the skin away (back to the muscle) and he couldn't wear nappies for weeks after he was born.
I had my daughter via vaginal birth so am hoping for the same this time... but I think I would be freaked if the baby was in breech position.

Kelly - If you have to go the VB they will surely fly right out, breech or not. He can turn again too, as you know. You will be fine and it will all work out perfectly. I'm crossing everything for a nice easy CS or VB for you. You obviously trust your doctor implictly like I do mine. If he suspected any major danger I'm sure he would act. Sit tight and try to remain relaxed and positive. This is your last moments of peace before your household very quickly goes from 3 to 5!!! I'm so excited for you and can't wait to hear all about your beautiful boys:twin_neutral:
