Congratulations Iona, Angelfish, Ric and Hope. Welcome to thread. My apologies to all for being so self absorbed this week. When things settle down I will be more sociable.

Well, the confusion goes on! The good news is that the scan showed an embryo with a good heartbeat of 120 per min. The confusing part is that she says the baby only measures 6 weeks instead of 7.3 days going by the last scan two weeks ago when they measured the egg sac. When I asked why it would measure small she said it can't measure small at this point, it is definitely a 6 week fetus. That would literally mean I had a BT HCG of 53 on the day it was conceived so obviously that can't work. Her explanation was that maybe I conceived twice and she said she thinks she can find a failed egg sac but wasn't sure. That might explain the bleed last week though. So somehow I had two eggs two weeks apart. I don't know if this is even possible. So I don't know what to think but there is a little someone there to love and pray for so that is what we are doing. I don't speak to my GP again till next Monday and she is such a pessimistic thing that I don't even know if I want to talk to her. I have an appointment with the OB on July 6th so I just might wait until I see him and let him sort this mess out.

SammyP - Yay for Heatbeat, and sending you alots of sticky vibes and healthy pregnancy term. so, sammy, the doc said you ovulated twice in one cycle, but did they saw 2 sacs in first u/s?? Well, dont stress - just pray that everything is goes well this time. Do update us with your news and rest as much as you can.

MurrayCod - how are you deary? Hows pregnancy symptoms going on? Hope everything is going good.

Dory - how are you and health? I am getting bored at home, just relaxing and cooking and watching tv.

Kit - how are you, resting well, When are you going for your u/s again and did u give all those blood test yet, my doc said to do it between 9 - 11 weeks - that down screeing, all the vit, whole blood test etc, so i am thinking to go this saturday and will discuss my fibroid as well.

I can't give you any advice on relaxing and taking it easy because I'm still goin nutjobs here myself!!!!!!!
Still no symptoms for me to speak of other than a few twingy /crampiness moments, just holding out untill next Tuesday scan, then will be a bit more sociable too! XX

Whew! My doctor rang me this evening because she is going away and wanted to make sure she spoke to me before she went. She congratulated me and said it's good news. She wasn't worried about them saying it was only 6 weeks as she said they can be out a week. She said the important thing was that there was a baby with a good heartbeat. She said they didn't have anything about a failed sac on the report but thought it could have been a twin and that explained the bleed. She said just wait until I see the OB now and relax a little. I'll try!

Iona, glad to see you in here. I can relate to how you feel. Like Murray cod, i don't have any great advice. I'm trying to have a bet each way with myself: not let myself get too excited in case something goes wrong but at the same time, getting excited as each new week ticks over and i hit another milestone. eg had my first Gp appointment last Friday. Going to be 6wks on Friday (fingers crossed) and OB appointment next week. Are you planning a dr's visit in the next few days?

AFM: I'm trying so hard not to think about the pg too much in the hope that the weeks will just sneak past and i'll be 12 wks before the 'bad luck' fairy notices and then it will be too late for her to get me! still having very few symptoms...

Murraycod, I was supposed to be 7 weeks 3 days but the technician said I only measured 6 weeks. She was able to see the fetal pole quite well and establish a good heartbeat. She also found the bleed I had last week and was able to say it shouldn't cause any further problem. You only really see blobs rather than any distinct baby like shapes but it's reassuring to know that so far everything is in the right place and functioning properly.

murray, I think I was 7w2d at my first scan. Baby was tiny, but they did a 3D image and you could just see the beginnings of it, this little prawn of a thing. Now it's a thumb sucking bouncing machine that I love sooooo much. But I have to say, and it might not be the same for all, that it actually wasn't all that reassuring. I still had another 5 weeks to get through and I knew the heartbreak would be all the worse to lose someone we'd already "met"

On not getting excited - it's understandable. We've all had our hearts broken once before, and you don't want to risk it again. In the early weeks, I just focused on sending our little prawn lots and lots of love, because even if it were only to be around for a little while, I wanted it to be the most loved creature on this earth for that time. And every time it does something awesome, like waving on the scan, or bouncing across my belly, I feel like it's returning that love, and so the love grows.

I have got the most stunning pregnesia. The Herald Sun quiz has been driving me batty - answers that I KNOW I know are taking aaaaaages to come to me! And don't even start on where I put my keys...

Sammy - that is great news, so glad that your doctor put your mind at ease!!

Murray - I don't have a heap of symptoms either, just the sore bb's but they don't seem to be as sore as they were on the weekend, I think on sat arvo I had to take my bra off. the other one is peeing all the time but not sure if I'm doing it so that I can check that there is no discharge/bleeding and tiredness. I do have a few li cramps sometimes they are hip high and sometimes they are low pelvis/high thigh!! I have had some lower backache but not sure if it is from my personal training sess even though we have started to tone things down

possum - ur a week ahead of me...oh I thought I could think I'm not pregnant but then I don't want to think that because I did this and that lil bean didn't stick!!

AFM: had a small amount of brown discharge this morn when I wiped.....maybe I should go to my drs to get my bloods done and see if he will give me a repeat hcg test in a couple of days....

Iona I ended up getting 3 Betas done to reassure myself. id definately helped. I was told to relax by my doc, but the 'real' proof makes things easier! A little brown blood is fine babe, but if reassurance is what you need then go for it X

Iona - Don't worry, everything is going to be allright and Murray is right, instead of thinking about 2000 negative, better to get Beta done, as nothing can be as assuring as INCREASING BETAS. and in such early stages, I guess any pregnant women has betas to rely on that everything is going fine. you can also ask for u/s referral thru' your GP, that's what I did. Take care dear and keep us posted.

Murray - I know what your are feeling. Hey Murray, I read, i read and i read almost everywhere about ladies getting pregnancy symptoms and i was feeling same like you as I was trying to analyse and complaining no pregnancy symptoms....Its not necessary to have pregnancy symptoms, My boobies were tender till 6 weeks and tats it and suddenly no tenderness, i freaked out, cried and started collecting all negatives thoughts, went to doctor, DH took leave to be with me and Doctor said- its allright to have no symptoms.
May be your body is preparing gradually and slowely that you are not able to feel the difference and Pregnancy is not about throwing-up. If you are feeling fine thats allright, she gave me u/s referral and I saw the bub and good heartbeat. I cried with joy and now I have decided to focus on eating healthy and thinking all the good things and enjoying the JOYS OF MOTHERHOOD - this Journey.
Murray - cramping, anxiety, twinges are all your pregnancy symptoms.

Heya lovelies! This is just a quick message before I begin to catch up -

MURRAYCOD - I am so happy for you..... can't wait for that scan result next week..... and I agree with the girls, it's so hard to determine gestational age, so keep the faith.

IONNA - welcome to you beautiful girl. I know you're scared, but like Audax said, in essence, believe. It is scary and frightening and the fear can be crippling, but we're all here to help you through those times, and to share the exciting journey. Praying for a sticky bub for you too.

I'll be back when I've caught up. I have a head cold and am feeling pretty miserable. Just hoping that if I rest up and take care it won't be too bad or linger too long. Apart from that I am pretty excited to be at 26 weeks. I have steroid injections tomorrow and friday to help the baby's lungs develop, just in case bubs decides to come early...... it's not a guarantee, I know that, but it feels good to have gotten this far and at least be able to do something. Belly rubs.

Back again - didn't take as long as i'd expected.

Hoping - welcome and a big congratulations on your pregnancy and I am sorry for your loss. I agree with Possum, unless you've gotten specific advice from your Dr, there's not much to be done differently in terms of physical care, but emotional care? That's the biggy. No doubt you can tell by the posts in here and by how you're feeling that the emotional journey of pregnancy after loss is much much harder. So how to get through that? Talk to your Dr - either GP or Ob - and if it helps, go in for more appointments and scans than usual if you can afford it. I have found it helps to have that reassurance. The other things? Expect it to be hard, and go gently on yourself. Everyone finds their own way through, and their own way to cope. I decided, very early on, that I would love this baby and this pregnancy as much as I could for as long as I was blessed to have it. It sounds simplistic, and that's not to say there weren't really miserable days where I was frightened beyond all belief, but what it did, was at least gave me some positive and happy times. I would put my hands on my tum, and send baby as much love and positivity as I could muster. I would tell baby of my hopes and dreams. I still do those things. Some days my heart wasn't really in it and I didn't believe, but I still did it. It's one of the things that I think has really helped me along. And time. The early days are the worst.

Ric - I had a really rough end to the week and weekend with "being bored". But part of my restlessness was probably the fact I was coming down with this cold. But apart from the things you listed, I usually live on BB for at least 1/2 day every weekday, I sleep ( a lot more lately with this cold), I knit, I do research, I email friends, I talk to my mum almost every day, and I read books, watch DVD's, TV. Sometimes I just sit quietly. Sometimes I muster the energy to put a load of washing on or load up the dishwasher! But it is lonely and it is boring! Not the holiday that people think it is!

Twinsis - sorry to hear you've been so unwell in addition to m/s - you poor blossom. 34 weeks is awesome. Feel better soon.

Possum - you give such good advice.

Sammy P - how did that scan go.

Milly - good to here you are plugging away.... you'll get there.

Audax - 16 weeks - go you good thing. Does you post mean that you are feeling baby move already? If so how exciting! I am getting what I call double or successive movements now. Almost like a flurry of movements in quick succession, but each movement is distinct. It's awesome, although sometimes if they are lower down, it feels a little too much like something else that would require a quick trip to the loo. Poor baby, fancy being mistaken for that!

Angelfish - sweetie - this journey is hard enough with out beating yourself up.... I agree with the other girls. What you're feeling is pretty normal. Do what you need to do to get through. Congrats too by the way on your pregnancy.

Kit - how are you doing?

Elise - good to hear from you. Isn't it good to see time marching on, in our favour?

HPL - Sorry to hear that pain isn't any better. I think TwinSis was talking about SPD? I am starting to get that across my public bone, though not all the time. For me the pain is worst in my hips, butt and groin. Sometimes when I get up I look and walk like a decreipt old thing. Oh wait- I am a decrepit old thing. Anyway, I hope your massage brings some relief and bring on your baby shower on 17th July!

Murray - I have to apologise - I thought your scan was this week not next week.... sorry about any confusion in my post. Don't worry about an apparent lack of pregnancy symptoms.... every preg is different. Sore and sensitive nipples and early intense onset of m/s happened for me this time and I haven't had either before. Thank goodness the m/s passed, mostly, but the sore and sensitive nipples, still confound me.

Hello to anyone I've missed. Ah - Alice - still stalking my sweet?

AFM - all good - 26 weeks, less than 100 days to go. I never imagined I'd actually get to this point, no matter how much I said I believed. What I really believed in was each moment and each day and couldn't really envisage the future, not in a real way. I could theoretically. To be honest, that's still how I get through. Be thankful for every day I am blessed with this pregnancy. The fur baby who was diagnosed with hyperthryroidism is responding well to his medication and being well behaved about having to be tableted twice a day! Only 3 more weeks until his next check up to see if there are any underlying conditions that the hyperthyroidism might have been masking. But he's less frenetic in his activity levels and appetite since starting meds! Poor cat must have thought he was on a starvation diet.

Oh Sammy P - I loved the story about "taking the cold off" - so practical and concrete.

Oh here's some interesting news. DH asked the Ob today whether there was any risk in dying hair during pregnancy. The Ob was of the view it was fine to dye your hair. The reason he asked? Not me, directly, but rather, a work colleague who is 20 weeks dyed her hair from dark brown to blonde! Although at least I feel I might be able to cover those greys and not look like the decrepit old bag that I feel I am. LOL.

ok girls, so back from the u/s....the results are that on my left ovary is a cyst which says it's the one that the egg was released and this cyst is where the hormones are generated from at the start of the pregnancy and pops around 14 weeks (I swear I learn something new everytime I get an u/s done) and the uterus is looking like it's getting a thicker lining. So the sonographer said this all looks like a positive outcome

Next step is routine bloods!!

thanks dory, you and murray know how to put me on the straight and narrow....I think I need it at times. I'm sure DP will agree with that one

Well I better get off and get back to study, have an exam at 8:30 tomorrow morn....
