Pregnancy after miscarriage or loss ~ September 2010

OMG Forshelby I have had the EXACT same thing for the last 6 weeks, it is the most awfull thing. I have so much trouble sleeping at night and reting on the couch. Driving me crazy too. I can't beleive you have it too I thaught I was the only one my DH thinks I have gone crazy.

I have gone to the extent of soaking my feet in hot water in the bathroom sink with radox before I go to bed, sometimes it helps.
Have even gone to the limits of staying up at night untill I feel sick I am that tired, so when I go to bed I hope to fall asleep straight away................don't try that one though, doesn't work.
As I sit here typing now, I have crossed my leggs/ankles and then uncrossed them about twenty times.

I pray someone has an answer for us. My OB looked at me weird when I asked her.

Ferrals, You and your DH's approach to your pregnancy is amazing. I think it's OK that you fall in love with this little bubs, which I'm sure you already have done. Here's a hug for you :hug: and one for your little one :hug:

kmm - When I'm stressed I tend to watch DVD's and live in a zombie like existance on the couch... And sometimes I even get out for a bit of exercise. I'm sure you can do a lot better than that. time, bl&*dy time is usually what works.

Murraycod - no reassurance from me for your DH, but my DH reckons he felt movement last night with his ear to my belly at 17 weeks. Not quite sure about that, but I'm glad he's involved. I thought we owned allthe hormones, bad enough just one of us. So upset after getting my passport application refused at the Post Office because the photo was too small, and ended up crying as I was walking home. Go figure - hormones. My DHs big hormone seems to be adrenalin at the moment.

Tegam - you are such a teez. go Dory go.

As for restless leg syndrome, sounds funny but is actually very nasty, no quality of sleep for who ever is kicking and tossing and turning or within the leg range. don't quote me but I think magnesium can help with that one.

And I felt such a retard, finally found the BA (well, we use BO at our hospital :rofl: Murry, looking at those BAs will never be the same again, and was joking the other day with my sister saying I wouldn't let my niece help out with me in labour coz she might see that :rofl:) thread, and for anyone who probably doesn't want to admit they are as retardi as me, it is found

Milly 5 I can't find your Birth announcement.

I keep pinching myself, where has the time gone. I can't believe we are 17 weeks +. I keep having to double check, thinking maybe I've added another week or two coz. I'm getting ahead of myself. Finally went shopping for clothes today. Actually wore the new clothes out of the shop.

Murray and Forshelby Restless legs are very common in pregnancy. Although I don't know how to fix them so I'm not much help.

Just had to say I had a quick peak at bub last night with the work scanner after idiot me couldn't find its heartbeating with a doppler because its to early lol anyway bub still in there looking good. So I was very happy last night :o)

timeforafamily i know how you feel sometimes it feels like a dream that your going to wake up from.

AFM i cant believe i hit 21 weeks still no movement and have a question i was reading that my utures (sorry for the spelling ) should be an inch above my belly button and its not is that normal i mean i just hit 21 weeks today.

My little step daughter said to me last night you look pregnant your belly looks the same as when you were pregnant with Abbi :shakehead: i had to lie and tell her i have just put on a bit of weight we should have been able to tell her by now.
All my boys know we had to tell them after all the phone calls from the geneticist about the stuff up with the cvs and DH going off about their carelessness the boys didnt really react much just said OH! when will you find out if this baby is ok it was sad to see no excitement from them.

My mother in law is comming up to stay for a week and we have to tell her we have no results she will be upset and we had to cancel our trip to melbourn to see DH's dad as we have to many appointments in oct.

Murrycod-cant help with the restless legs i havnt slept well for weeks my brain just wont stop racing and thinking about all the possible senerio's that could happen if we werent pregnant i know a JD's or 2 would relax us.

Mildez-yeh on the bubby looking good.

Somebody please reassure me that all of this hacking, coughing, and cold sickness is not harming the baby 'cause I am freaking out.

Get this-- I was "supposed" to be at a work function (a social "tea") on my day off-- the parishioner who called said that she called me "to check up" on me, but then she laid on a guilt trip-- I was apparently expected to be there, expected --even though it was my regular day off-- SCREAM-- I was so frustrated, and even after telling her that I have been sick for four days straight...she still managed to say that I should have RSVP'd-- really, for God's sake (and I mean that) It was my one day off and my hubby and I had plans (which didn't happen 'cause I was on the couch hacking up a storm) But goodness gracious, I was so ungodly angry because I felt like I couldn't even be sick! I really didn't need the guilt trip...

Sorry for dumping. Please be nice to people in serving professions; we are only human beings!

Yikes! Really quiet here! Just posting to say sorry for venting in previous post. Things went well today...and I am feeling more "normal." Still coughing though. Ugh.

ForShelby and Murraycod-- I got the restless leg thing before I was pregnant-- I do a kind of meditation where you flex each muscle beginning with your foot, and you work up each leg slowly and then repeat. Or sometimes I just get up at night and walk around. It's really a pain though.

Hey sunshine, glad you are feeling better. I'm quite sure that coughing won't hurt bubs, but take care of you! Try, where you can to engage your pelvic floor and brace your TAs before you cough so you don't do too much damage down there!

I had the most ridiculous night's sleep last night. Took me ages to get to sleep, woke up two hours later for the loo, and was wide awake, so decided to fold some washing while I was up, and write a letter to DH's grandmother and mine, went back to bed, finally got comfy, needed the loo again, got up, went to the loo, went back to bed, baby had an epic disco party, which was really quite cute and very entertaining. Finally got to sleep, woke up again with leg cramps, had to get up to stretch, went back to bed, and what flt like 10 minutes later, DH's alarm went off for work. Definitely need a nap today!

How was everyone else's weekend?

Sunshine-I had whooping cough really bad with Abbi's pregnancy i even cracked a rib from coughing and vomiting so bad it didnt bother her in the slightest and she was a really sick baby with an extremely bad heart so dont worry but like Audax said the pelvic floor will cope the damage if you dont hold them tight when you cough my pelvic floor is really good after a few kids and i will be damed if i let a cough ruin it so dont forget to pull up an squeeze and hold then cough.

Thanks Ferrals and thanks Audax-- That's very reassuring to know. Oh, my DH and I were wondering what TA's are. Here in the US, T and A is a slang term (won't say it, 'cuz it might get me banned) but I wasn't sure what body part I was supposed to be "holding in"...LOL. Going to need to practice those kegels-- cause when I cough, I don't have any control of anything down there ! That was probably too much info. Anyway, thanks, for the how-to!

Murraycod - I'm surprised your OB didn't know about restless leg syndrome.... it's very common. My mum said she had it during pg too, so we aren't crazy! When it's driving me craziest, I lie with my legs up and hanging over the edge of the arm of the lounge, and kick my legs like crazy as if I'm swimming. LOL.. it looks hilarious but actually relieves the horrible feeling. Just don't overdo it though or they'll be sorer than before!

TFAF - Thanks for the restless leg advice, I might try it if it gets out of control. I too have enjoyed some much needed clothes shopping. Things were starting to get a bit desperate in that department!

Mildez - It must be so nice to be able to sneak a peek at bubs anytime. :)

Ferrals - You're definitely going down a very difficult path here, hun. But, you're doing an amazing job of it, and I find it all very inspiring. It must have been sad though not to see any excitement from the boys, I guess they're just staying on their guard as it was very sad for them when Abbi went to play with the other angel babies. FX everything is ok, and you can finally start to enjoy this pg. Good luck with everything :)

Kmm - How far along are you? It can be hard to relax during the early days. I found distraction was the best medecine.

Sunshine - Sorry it's been so rough for you lately, hun. Baby is very well cushioned, and a bit of coughing (or a lot) isn't going to do any harm. As a matter of fact, during my 12wk scan the lady asked me to cough to get bubs to move, and he/she just made a cute little startle when I did so. You never know, your little one might be enjoying all the jiggling around in there, lol. Pity it's no fun for you though! And ARGH at your 'work function'. How irritating. Don't let them get to you though, people can be insensitive at the worst times. My old boss 'expected' me to return to work the day after I started to mc my first pg. Stupidly, I went as I didn't realise I had the right to demand compassionate leave. Long story short, I was scarred for a long time. Don't let them push you around, because you'll be the one to suffer, not them. Good luck :) Oh and thanks for the restless leg advice.

Audax - What an awful night's sleep! I love the disco party bit though, that's soooo cute.

I think I'll just be vague and mysterious for now and hope that's good enough! Wish me luck :)

Kmm-I had lots of AF cramping early on it is worrying but normal.

AFM-all good feeling baby flutter around and the tiniest little kicks ever but i have to lay there very quiet and wait to feel it next week we have a scan then one on two weeks after to check for signs of SLO fingers crossed they find nothing.

forshelby - I'm with Tegam, I can't believe you have to write a birth plan yet! We have started ours, but only because I'm a paranoid nutcase who does things early! Our midwives will go over it with us at 36 weeks. Maybe type one out and staple it into that page? That way you can change it later if you want to. A lot can change between now and 36 weeks! That's what we're doing.

ferrals - yaaay for the little dancer!

I didn't get to go for my swim. I have lost my swimming bag. Hmph.

Ferrals-- Hurrah on the baby movement! I am so jealous! I keep imagining that I am feeling something, but then nothing. My mom tells me it feels like butterflies. But mine doesn't feel anything like that. Hopefully, I will feel something soon, in another few weeks, maybe.

Oh, I forgot to say thanks to Audax for clearing up the body part (TAs) question! Good to know!:D

afm i am getting really worried i hear of everyone feeling the baby move 21 week and no movement felt but saw the baby on the scan moveing away. And i dont feel like i am showing as much as i should the drs have told me not to worry since this is my frist one that has made it this far. But she has a strong hb at 155 so i am just going to hang onto that my next dr is in two weeks

Tegam - I know... I bumbled through it somehow, I think it actually turned out pretty good in the end. It does seem rather early though! HB was amazing to hear :)

Ferrals - Thanks, hun. How exciting, you're feeling bubs moving already. I also still have to be very still to feel things, although occasionally I get a very obvious THUD which makes me jump hehe. Good luck for your next couple of scans. I hope it all turns out beautifully for you.

Audax - I know, I felt like a naughty schoolkid trying to do my homework before class LOL. Dr didn't really pay much attention to it or talk to me about it, so I'm not sure what the deal was with telling me to fill that bit out. Hmm....

Sunshine - My mum said the same. Butterflies. I'm not sure if that's an accurate description though... sometimes it's more of a poking feeling. Or a swishing feeling. Or just a plain old whack in the tummy. Just small hehe. It's quite possible you're feeling movements now but having trouble distinguishing them from digestion etc.

Angelfish - Try not to worry, hun. As I said to Sunshine, it's very possible you're feeling movements but not able to distinguish them yet. I really think all will be ok.

AFM - Heard the hb last night. Amazing! My bp was pretty high so I'm a bit worried about that.... is there anything I can do to lower it?? Anyhoo, best make this a quick one as I'm babysitting today. Cute..

thank you everyone the dr office when i stopped in to get paper work told me that they forgot to tell me that i have a anterior placenta so i guess that explains allot

Angelfish - I was going to ask if your placenta was anterior, actually. That definitely answers a lot doesn't it. :) I'm trying not to worry about the bp thing but it's a bit concerning.... I'm hoping for a complication free pg.

forshelby did the dr say anything about it. About what you should do?

Angelfish - No, he seemed worried until my urine showed no protein (sorry TMI there) and then he took my bp again at the end of my appt and he was much happier with the result. It still seemed high to me though at 130. Not sure what the bottom number was. I'm wondering if it's still ok for me to fly in a couple of weeks... hrrmmm maybe I need to make a phonecall and ask him some questions.

Forshelby: Its the bottom number that counts when you do a BP. The top number is the heart at full work load (contracting) the bottom number is it at rest (so when its just sitting there doing nothing) So its when the heart is under too much pressure resting that its time to freak. The top number could (probably) was just reflecting you fear of them not hearing a HB!!!

What can you do about lowering it??????? NOT STRESS about it!

AFM - thanks for the info re cramps ferrals4, they are freaking me out a bit. I am almost seven weeks, so I'm still really anxious. I have my first scan on 14.10.10. seems forever away.

forshelby tegam is right about the top number and if your stressed at all it will be higher probley by the time you left the dr office and was home after hearing the hb your bp was probley normal. THey also worry if your numbers stay up also and dont come down. Relax( ha me saying this) but stress will make your bp go up. And yeah before you fly i would ask your dr.

KMM Its okay to be anxious and want to talk about it, good luck with your frist scan allot of the ladys around here have great advice and are great support they have helped me out soo much :)

Forshelby-with my 1st baby my bp got to 150 over 210 i was told to rest and relax it stayed like that for awhile before i was induced just try not to over do it.

I finally think i felt movement it felt like a bunch of goldfish i would say down near my bladder did not have to pee (Sorry TMI) then i had to pee so really horribley happen a couple times last night :)

Shelby it is more then likely you have whats called essential hypertension which you didn't know about before your pregnancy. It is very rare to have blood pressure problems associated with pregnancy under 20 odd weeks. But like some of the others have mentioned it could be from the stress of waiting to hear the HB etc.

I'm of to try get an appointment with my Ob today as I have so much pain in my uterus and one ovary. I'm hoping its just adhesions stretching to accommodate my growing uterus but I am still freaking out so want it checked out but I doubt I'll get in to him on such short notice. Worth a shot anyway maybe someone has cancelled or something. I also haven't felt bub move for a few days. I guess its because it is so tini tiny still.

Angelfish - It did come down to 130 by the time I was about to leave... so that's a good thing. I don't have another appointment before we fly to Melbourne, so I'm going to have to give him a call, I think. Yay for feeling movement!!!!

Ferrals - Wow that seems high.... :o

Mildez - The dr did ask if I normally had high bp and I said I didn't think so. (I really don't visit the dr unless I'm very sick!) He also thought I might have been a bit anxious about the hb. How far along are you? The stretching adhesions sounds logical.... but it's never a bad idea to get checked out. Keep us posted.

AFM - I had a really teary day yesterday... then all evening/night I just felt irritable and cranky! It was really bad! I spilled some water and got really upset about it, then yelled at the dog for not going in his kennel to be tucked in (yes, I tuck him in.. lol) and I was just a basketcase in general! Today I'm feeling a little bit the same. I'm babysitting my friend's boys, and I can feel my rage building, lol. The older one is just talking really nasty to the younger one and I feel like turning off the damn xbox, and saying RIGHT if you can't play nice, then you can't play at all. I think I need to step outside for a minute. I hope everyone else is well.

Forshelby! I would turn off the xbox. I am that sort of mumma with the play nice or lose it! Hope that your day gets better. I always feel that baby has a growth spurt around 16weeks and you are in that no mans land between passing the magical 12weeks and feeling so far away from that 20week scan. I ALWAYS get emotionaL!

I am 12weeks today. My pain has settled now so I'm looking at the phone and phone book wondering if I should try get in or just wait and see. I have my NT scan mid next week. I think the pain and the fact I though I felt bub move and now can't has me anxious. Its always something. Logic tells me at 12weeks you shouldn't feel bub anyway so no reason to panic then part of me things well no you thought you could feel it for days at 11weeks and now nothing. WTF? Stupid mind of mine.

Shelby babysitting would do my head in. Goodluck with that. Hope they behave themselves and give you a break. I'm babysitting for my sister tomorrow and already I want to strangle her son like homer and Bart Simpson and his not even here yet. I am completely dreading it as he is such a challenge.

Whether you felt the baby or not doesnt matter its good to remember tho that the feelings DO come and go at this stage. I know i FELT all of mine early but then not for some days and then again, up until 17-18weeks!!

Call someone if you are worried. If you are 12weeks you could get in and do your NT scan earlier than next week!

Mildez-i felt all my boys at about 15-16 weeks and Abbi at 14 weeks and this one at 13 weeks and i know for sure it is bub some days i feel a lot other days just a little and i dont feel bub the side where the placenta is.
If you need peace of mind try to see someone sooner that is what i am doing having my own scan next week before the fetal medicine unit scan on the 18th i feel better knowing i have some control over my pregnancy.

Tegam - I knoooowwww.... I just feel like crap, for no apparent reason, and totally emotional. It's frustrating. :( One more episode of hogging/being a smartarse, I will turn it off soooo fast. Oh and what's driving me even crazier is that the older one keeps asking me if it's his turn to play yet.... when he spent a good half hour hogging it while I was stuck on the phone to my mum. The little one was so patient, and just occupied himself waiting for his turn. It's been 3 minutes, and the older one keeps saying 'has it been 10 minutes yet'? No, it hasn't. I feel like stretching the time out even longer every time he asks. I know they're just kidlets, but greed really bothers me. It's not even their machine, it's my partner's. You know what, this isn't even a really big deal, I'm just in one of those moods!!!! I think I need a snack to keep from getting cranky. Thanks for the dory update! I was just thinking about her, wondering if she was home from hospital yet. Yay, how lovely.

Mildez - Oh I know the feeling. A few times I've felt panicky because I was sure I felt flutters from about 13wks on.... and then I get nothing for a day or two, and I think 'surely if I felt things THEN I should feel them NOW'. It's hard not to worry, isn't it? I must say, for good boys... they are challenging me today. I'm getting a bit wound up watching them 'sharing'. The little one is doing fine, but the bigger one just seems to steamroll the younger one. When I said the 10 mins was up, he charged over and grabbed the controller straight away, as if he would die waiting 2 seconds. Meanwhile, when his turn is up, he fart-arses around trying to stretch it out. Ughhhh.... if they were my kids I know how I'd deal with it, but they're not, and I only have to get through today. I think I just need to grit my teeth, and if it gets too much, tell the older one I have some housework he can do if he keeps playing up. Oh and they keep harassing my poor little foxie. I don't want to yell at anyone.. but I mean it's every two seconds they're trying to pat him or hold him.... I think the dog needs to go outside for his own sake.

Ferrals - LOL.. the dog likes to be tucked in too, it's really cute. In winter I tuck the cat in too and she stays under her blanket most of the night. Very sweet. It must be soooo hard going through the waiting. How long till you get an answer now?? :(

Ferrals-- I've been thinking of you-- I hope that you get some answers soon so that you can enjoy this more and not be anxious. I really don't have much room to talk here, 'cause I am Ms. Anxiety herself...but I really feel for you.

This is just a quick update to say that I finally just called the doc office today and made an appointment with the Dr to check the heartbeat AGAIN and to check my lungs-- as I am not sure I still have one or the other, since I have been hacking so much. Each day is better, but man-oh-man, this cold is sticking 'round ugly.

Anyway, the Dr was really very understanding...no problem with finding the heartbeat :D and she suggested that maybe I consider coming in weekly until I feel movement. (They probably think that I am a complete basket case.) But I was really surprised that they offered... The doc seemed to know my history, and said that they would rather see me, than not. They also asked me if some student nurse/doctor could be present at this appointment. Sure, what the hay... I didn't realize how anxious I was until, after the appointment, I got to the car and just started weeping. I haven't cried much until now.
