    Anatomy Scan is tomorrow

Tomorrow morning I have the big anatomy scan - YAY! I will be 18 weeks 5 days.

I am really looking forward to it but I still have my stitches and wound from the appendectomy I had on the weekend. I am feeling alot better now although still a bit stiff and sore. My belly is starting to feel fine to touch so I feel comfortable about having the ultrasound thingy being pressed on my belly.

I am a bit worried though what they will be limited by with my wound. The cut is about 10cm long and starts about 8cm to the right of my belly button. I'm getting the dressing off today so tomorrow it will just be the stitches.

I've thought about ringing the ultrasound place to check but I don't want them to postpone my scan. If they did it would still need to be in the next week and a bit anyway and I will still have the wound.

Since my op I have felt bubs moving around the middle and left side of my belly so hopefully he/she stays there for the scan and the sonographer won't need to go near my wound much at all.

And one of the reasons that I'm really looking forward to it is that I really want to see that bubs is all ok after having the surgery!

    good luck with the scan.
Sometimes they do press quite hard doing the scan, so you might find that it will be a bit painful, and for that reason, perhaps putting it off for a week might not be such a bad idea.

However, in saying that, i understand you wanting to see bubs after your ob.

Good luck with the scan. If they can't see everything with the wound they will get you to come back for another scan. Which can happen anyway. My bub wouldn't turn his head so we had to go back for another scan.

Thanks for the replies...I'm not feeling so sore at the moment so am happy to do the scan tomorrow. If I have to go back again then I just go back I guess...

Just another question, does anyone know how much this scan costs?

Ah well it costs $173 and I got $85 back from medicare I think.

The scan went really well. Bubs was wide awake and waving arms around everywhere. Everything looks normal and doesn't seem to be affected by my op at all. The sonographer did well working around my wound and she didn't have to press that hard.

We didn't find out the sex :P

I will have to have another scan at around 30 weeks to check the position of my placenta as today showed it was low lying (1cm away from opening).
