    Tender Tummy -& Crushing Ribs

The last few weeks I have been having lots of aches and pains.

It started with a aching tailbone which I have since learnt can be normal in pregnancy
then this was followed by an achy ribs and back, it literally felt like my ribs in the front and back were crushing in on me it ached so much I couldnt sit upright and deep breaths were like someone was cracking my ribs. It seemed to ease off after a few days but it is still there.

then last few days I have had such a tender stomach that I can not slouch forward or bend over. The aching seems to be right above my belly button and all the way across.

is this all just muscular? anyone else have such a tender tummy??

I am going to Dr's so I will see what she says but thought Id ask the real experts first..

I have had aching ribs for the past month. When I am standing it is fine but it really causes me grief when I am sitting down. I dont think it is because bubs is that big that he is pushing up on my ribs... I think it has more to do with me sitting down all day at my desk. I dont have the best posture anyway eek!
I find getting up for a walk to the toilet or to the water cooler every half hours makes it a little better. Or putting my arms up against the wall, above my head and breathing in.

    Hope this helps a little.

    Hi Delicate Dove,

I have had the same rib pain (not as bad though) but I have had the aching across my stomach. I first got it really badly when I was 28 weeks and had it constantly for 5 hours... in the end I thought enough was enough and called the hospital as it was starting to worry me. I went in and they monitored me and ended up putting it down to the muscles stretching! They gave me some pain relief and a sleeping tablet and sent me home. So from what you described it sounds the same as what I had.

Def ask your carer anyway to be sure!

I woke up at 4am the other morning with a pain across my tummy. It was sort of burning and I couldn't sleep on my side as the pain got worse. It went on for hours, but when I got up for work it was gone.

i too have had lots of aches and pains. i am only 16 weeks along and have been concerned that i am so uncomfortable already. I wasn't with my first. My tail bone feels bruised when i sit and i have had definately alot more tummy pain than 1st time around. I have felt so bad i made a special visit to my doc and he assured me that everything is fine and it can be quite normal to feel like this. i have good days and bad but generally feel some discomfort 98% of the time. good luck and i hope your dr reassures you like mine did.

yay for us too!! Yep, have also been having the rib and tummy pain- thankfully no tailbone though - you poor thing, it must be really hard to get comfortable! All the aches can get pretty concerning, can't they? I've almost started assuming EVERYTHING is normal BTW how is your baby showe planning going DD??

The baby shower planning, My friend is still asking about it, despite me telling her my mum was organizing it. And now she has another friend who is pregnant and due same time so thats 3 of us she wants to share a shower.

To be honest Iam just ignoring her and it right now in fear of saying something. It wouldnt be saying something mean just honest.

We all went out to dinner an d she announced how I did the least amount of work (I work from home on a website) and how I must had had the easiest day out of all of them.
I was so shocked I couldnt reply. Hubby only defended me by saying I was building a baby too. But I really wanted defending on the work side of things. She has never respected my work. Next time She says something I will have to have a great remark. Just can't think of anything that isnt nasty (honest) at the moment.
